MODERATOR NOTE: Place removed because camping is illegal here. Signs posted and enforced
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Super bummed to confirm this spot is closed. We overnighted here multiple times and now is very obviously marked. It also has new Portapotties which are IMO gross and the CA lazy way to make more accessible. This area has become much more difficult for travelers with lots of rules and empty campgrounds that have reservations that never show up.
Report Check-InThere are in fact “No Camping” signs posted in multiple spots along this stretch. When I stayed here last year there were no signs, so I had to see for myself if it was truly closed to camping. It’s BLM land, so maybe it could be argued, but the signs are there. Sigh.
Report Check-InBeautiful location, ok to overnight, lots of running, walking and just looking at your beautiful oceanside view. Lighthouse is $5 to enter.
Report Check-InMe and Bella my EB stayed here on September 10th 2021. I got a nice beach front spot and watched a beautiful sunset and sunrise. The only negative and its expected is, loud vehicle noise and rude people, spinning their tires and making loud exhaust noise at 3am.
Report Check-InExcellent spot with magnificent views. I pulled all the way in so my front tires when over the bump, nose in, and my van was pretty level. Watched the sea lions and birds!! It's the pull out with the placard about the sea lions.
Report Check-InAmazing views of the coast. This spot was perfect for my sedan car to sleep in. The crashing waves was so therapeutic! In the morning, I was greeted with seals and cows.
Also, please make sure to pack in your trash. Unfortunately, there was alot of cigarettes, papers, and cans there. Let's keep this place open to campers by keeping it clean! Cheers
Very windy. Beautiful. Lot of seals. Busy but easy to find a spot. No amenities.
Report Check-InBeautiful views and level spots, big enough for a camper van. Plenty of other pull offs on the way to the lighthouse. Stayed two nights— sheriff drove by as we were leaving the last morning and said no overnight camping. You’d maybe be fine on weekdays, careful on weekends!
Report Check-InAwesome little spot. Basically on the edge of a cliff no more than a stone’s throw away from the surf, with views up the coast to the lighthouse point about a quarter mile down the road. I’m here at low tide, and there are a few dozen sea lions basking on the rocks around the tidal pools. Seems quiet enough, not much traffic (although it is a weekday). The only signs I see for anything are a “no fishing” sign and a placard with info about the beach ecosystem.
There are a couple of spots in the parking area that are level enough for my transit connect van, but definitely not enough flat ground for a camper or maybe even a larger van.
Report Check-InPerfect place to park my van for the night. Beautiful, quiet, no hassles.
Report Check-Inquiet, the other nearby sites all have vans/cars but it's empty here. great views as advertised.
Report Check-InSea lions are still here, rather quiet for sea lions.
This is the best view of the ocean and cliffs along the lighthouse road. But, it’s not level and there is no cell service.
There was cell service at the lighthouse parking lot, but recommend standing outside to use it.
Report Check-InAs described, best spot ever! No signs, summer and several campers here and along the road, nobody bothered on. a Saturday night or Sunday morning by 10 AM. Quiet road and.... just at sight of the sea lions!
Report Check-InThere were a few places along the road. We selected this one and parked our van parallel to the water. We watched the Sea Lions until high tide came in. It is a beautiful place.
Report Check-InBeautiful quiet and whatta view!!
Spoke w the sherif he said
Im Mendocino county it is illegal to camp anywhere that is not designated camping ground. However they don’t mind if you’re not making a mess, being super loud or just a plain fuckstick.
Don’t give them a reason to start kicking people out.
Beautiful quiet spot felt very safe would definitely stay here again.
Report Check-InAwesome little spot right on the cliffs! We didn’t see any sea lions sadly but still a beautiful spot. Be careful when you park up after rain. There were some large puddles that meant crawling through the car instead of getting out your door
Report Check-InSuch a beautiful spot. The road is dead end so there is not a lot of traffic and at night its dead. The sunset is superb. The sound of the waves hitting the rock just wow. All along the coast on the same road there are several spots but I preferred that one because it was level and gave us an excellent view.
Report Check-InSimilar to nearby spots but right next to the sea lion sleeping rocks and less visiting traffic. Amazing views and sunset. Walk over and look off the cliffs on the lefthand side to see the sea lions basking in the sun (most visitors who come by don't know they are there). Several at high tide, 20-40 at low tide. Unfortunately, you forego a toilet at this site but worth it for the quiet and sealions.
