Latest Check-Ins

It is very clear when you enter the national park (border only 5-10km back), that no camping is allowed in the park. This site is very definitely inside the park.

Report Check-In

Very nice camping spot.
The toilets were clean and nice, soap and toilet paper were there. There is running water in the sink, so it is useful to do some laundry and hung a line in the observatory overnight.

We spotted Cape fox at night (use headlamp and binoculars), different groups of horses in the morning starting at 8:00 am, oryx, ostrich and
Springbok.

You have to be patient.

Report Check-In

We saw horses 2 adults and a foal at 1h45pm! Oryx and ostrich as well :)

Report Check-In

Dont come here on the weekend. 7 cars over 2 hours. Music blaring. Crowds. Very windy. No protection. Horses are tame? The horses checked our car out and we petted them. Nice for a stopover or maybe weekday camp but nah weekend is too crazy

Toilets are filthy as well. No MTC signal. So basically all the no-gos of a wild camp spot: visible from road, not much view, thrashy toilets, no cell signal, zero wind protection, no privacy, no water source.

The only saving grace was the nice horses but we would have 100% moved on if we arrived earlier

Report Check-In

We had a good night hiding behind the toilet building as we were not sure if we could camp there! Neither the less we had an awesome time. Photographing the Milky Way. There was some visitors until late from Aus but after sunset it was quiet. We saw a silver jackal, horses, ostriches. Perfect spot for one night.

Stayed the night here and it was very windy. Wind dropped at 10pm then started again at 2am. Toilets in good working order and there's even soap. Lovely to watch the horses but don't expect hundreds.

Report Check-In

Nice quiet place for a night. At morning the horses came right to our car in front of the outlook point. It’s far enough away from the road to be not seen when the light stays off.

What a great place to wild camp. In the absolute dessert with horses, oryxes, ostriches and jackals around you. We enjoyed our night a lot here!

Report Check-In

Nice lookout spot but unfortunately no horses present

Report Check-In

Well toilets are not working any longer. For people pitching their tent you will be in the wind. There is a shelter view area but you will still get lots of windy and not sure 2 people tent will fit. There is a better place a little further down towards Luderitz.

Report Check-In

Sandy/Rocky parking lot with toilet at the spot to see the wild horses. Good for an overnight stay. In the morning wild horses will come to the parking lot to relax which is the moment to get really close to them.

Report Check-In

We stayed here over night... quite and peaceful place to stay! And you can enjoy the horses while having breakfast

Report Check-In

nice waterhole! we saw wild horses, orynx and ostriches!!!

Report Check-In

Nice place to see animals, not only horses. Many buses during the day, but quiet at night. Huge parking-area, toilet. Possible to stay overnight.

Report Check-In

About 1,5 km from main road, sheltered viewpoint, toilet, waterhole where the horses drink.
