Description

Wonderful place. Old home that was ours to use for the time we stayed here. We camped on the grass in front of the house, used the old kitchen for cooking and relaxed at the fire place during the chilly evenings. Place has stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
Cute and lovely little farm on which you can camp or book a night. Lots of animals (fresh eggs!) and a beautiful garden. Would recommend to stay 3 nights, so you can do two days of hiking, swimming and horse back riding. The Chimanimani mountains are truly beautiful! And Tempe is very kind and gives great advice!

Latest Check-Ins

Wonderful place, with all kinds of animals roaming around. Still $10 for camping.

Report Check-In

It is a very nice place with a beautiful mountain view. A youngest Security guy was coming from 6 to 6, staying in the Lapa beside us. So we felt very safe!

Report Check-In

I stayed here in November 2023 and described the robbery in the prior post. I have stayed in contact with the owners since. They have informed me that they have completed security improvements and have reopened the campsite to welcome campers. Motion detection security lighting has been installed. A Security watchman will be present. With these two changes I believe a reoccurrence is very unlikely. The campsite is in a beautiful setting snd we are looking forward to returning in 2024.

Report Check-In

The location for the report is the main residence. This is an outstanding location. The kitchen building makes the camping quite enjoyable. The hosts Tempe and Doug are warm, charming. This became clear to us as we moved in with them and stayed a week following an attack at the campsite on our second night. It was very traumatic. Tempe is going to have overnight security for campers going forward and the police will be informed for their patrols. The campsite is closed until the security issues are addressed. The assault is detailed in the 4x4 community forum, in the Zim group.

One of our favourite campsites on our travels. Set in a field with gorgeous views over to the Chimanimani mountains and the surrounding hills. Peaceful and relaxing. Well appointed kitchen/seating area (converted farm shed) with a really nice shower & toilet. Staff were very welcoming, and owner responded very quickly on Whatsapp. $10pppn. Pirate the friendly cat kept us company throughout our stay.

Report Check-In

Indeed it is a wonderful place with a very nice host. Unfortunately there are some travellers who behave as they own the place (new campsite) for themself - indicate clearly they do not want to share and have other travellers at "their" place. We decided to leave this unwelcoming people and camp in the garden of the old farmhouse where we had a lovely time (also with the cat Pirate). Tembe is such a generous person and a big source of information about the region. Highly recommended to stay here.

Amazing little piece of paradise.
Hot, running, drinkable water. Amazing hiking from here (https://strava.app.link/sULF5xxksDb for a 15k loop around a waterfall and a 2k summit)
Incredibly friendly staff, generally just lovely

Report Check-In

As mentioned, an excellent place to chill out in the Eastern Highlands. I came with my motorcycle, and camped at the new camping facility. Fenced area (so that the farm animals don't get in), a beautiful lawn area, covered shelter where I pitch my tent and protected my bike from the sun. A sink for the kitchen area (no stove), with hot water (potable) enough to make coffee, tea and instant soup, without using your camping stove. Amazing hot showers. Tembe, the owner, is such a lovelly person. She took me for a hike around Tessa's pool. Free vegetables from the garden. It can be chilly during the nights (very windy there), buf nice to sleep. You czn walk to the village, whers basic groceries, vegetables and fruits can be found, as well as fuel and beverages (cold at some places). 5km walk (one way) to Bridal Veil Fall. There's also Porks Pie hill to hike up.
Tarred road all the way to the farm's entrance. Plenty of horses, chikens, birds, etc. I stayed 3 nights. Wonderful views. 10USD/person to camp, 20USD for the cottage. Wifi csn be available at Tembe's house, if needed. Cell coverage intermitent.

We camped at the new campsite which was absolutely fab. Covered kitchen and sitting area with a great shower and loo with hot water from the solar geyser. Also has electricity to plug in your car and a lock up room to leave stuff when you're out. you can easily walk into town. Great fire pit and BBQ area. Amazing views of the mountains. We stayed 4 nights and could have stayed longer there's lots of hiking and waterfalls . We loved it - Mildred and Saul looked after us well and Tempe was so kind to check in on is even though she was away. Definitely recommend this place US 10pppn.

Well what can I say other than what a fantastic place to stay and with so much to explore in the immediate area. The campsite works so well with lovely sitting/kitchen/washing up area and solar powered jot, hot shower and toilet. Perfect bbq area and big firepit. Great views of the mountains and so beautiful to watch the sunrise above them. Extremely peaceful farm with the animals grazing around. Tempe is so lovely and knowledgeable and gave us fab hiking tips and Mildred and the team on the farm are very kind and helpful. The vege garden is such a brilliant treat and we really enjoyed the fresh produce. we spent 4 nights and could easily spent longer, we hiked the mountains and swam in the pools at the base of the waterfalls....literally idyllic!! Thank you! 10 USD pppn

Spent 5 nights at the ‘new’ campsite on the farm, it has a lovely spacious sitting area with washing up unit and with a private solar powered shower and toilet, overlooking the mountains. A great addition to what was already a great farm campsite. There is power and the water is potable. Tempe and Mildred look after the farm really well and all the farmhands are very friendly and open. Our 4 yr old son enjoyed milking the cows, playing in the small stream, the guinea pigs and all the other farm animals too. Mildred and Michelle took us horse back riding and we had a lovely pic nic at Tessa’s Pool, so do spend at least 3 nights here to explore the area a little, on horseback and on foot. Triple A campsite for us. (There also is a farmhouse and cottage available)

Report Check-In

We had a wonderful stay.
Improvements have been made since our last visit.
The campsite has been upgraded - shower with hot water, toilet and wash-up sinks, a sheltered living area, lock-up room and electricity power point.
View over the valley is still amazing

Amazing place to stay. Tempe and her staff are so kind and friendly. in total we stayed a week. the kids loved horseriding in the morning with Tempe. the vegetable garden is primarily for Tempe and guests staying over, so don't hesitate to ask for something from the garden. be warned to make sure you don't get to much. we asked for some strawberries and got a bucket full (like 5kg or so). Tempe sells local products like honey. The chimanimani area is very nice and worth a visit. we really recommend this place with or without kids.

Report Check-In

Such a nice place. Still $10, and probably the best value for money in Zim. Tempe is such a nice host that can give you a lot of suggestions on hikes to do in the area. You camp on the front lawn overlooking the valley. There’s animals everywhere. The donkey is always hot and facilities are clean. You can also use the house facilities if there’s no other guests.

Pleasant place with mountain views and animals all around but we couldn't camp here because the house and the cottage were already occupied by other clients. Still 10 USD ppn. Good internet connection with Econet.

Very beautiful and quiet place to stay ! You can either camp on the front of the biggest cottage and use its facilities or book one of the cottages. 10$ pppn for camping (half price for kids). There are plenty of animals, free horse riding for the kids and you can help Mildred to feed the animals. A little paradise for kids ! Tempe, the owner, is also very kind and helpful.
