Absolutely gorgeous spot, the road can be a bit noisy at times but you're fairly well hidden behind the hill. A
Report Check-InLake Kaweah (pull through) Turnout Overlook is a pull off from the mountain highway that is two lanes and takes you behind a small hill and comes out the other side. The south/west bound entrance (heading towards The Valley has a MASSIVE dip, do not recommend for any vehicle. but we accessed via the North/East bound side (heading towards Sequoia NP) and it was fine, a slight curb but easily manageable. we then turned around at the other end (before the belly scraping dip) so our passenger side faced the lake and we could leave easily in the morning.
There were no signs at all and we were not knocked on for our one night stay. There were other vehicles coming through for the view but nobody else overnighted.
Absolutely peaceful and quiet. Our B Class van is not high clearance but we were fine. Just follow the instructions above regarding which side to enter at.
DO NoT recommend for any rig larger than a van that is not high clearance, as you could not turn around or avoid the south/west side entrance rut.
We also picked up decent speeds (enough to stream) from an open starlink in the area, using our winegard.
Picked up some trash too. Just be low key and leave the area better than you found it. ✌🏼
I slept here didn't see any of the signs mentioned by the others. I was alone and no one bothered me. Best sun rise I ever see. Maybe it was open cause not summer yet
Report Check-InLake Kaweah parking provide a good and quiet place with a water point and open WCs. Even though there is a no camping signal there's no apparent overnight signal.
We had a peacefully night with only one car more at the parking, seems to be "awaking" at 7.45-8 AM so for overnight and wake up early it's suitable.
Do not be afraid if you here pack of wolf's arround they won't get to the parking.
Report Check-InAt the morning Ranger came and said that this is not allowed to stay for a night here and told that we can't stay here again.
Paved (old) pull off. Big hole at the beginnig of the pull off, better to enter from other side. We of course hit the hole (27ft RV) :) Eoungh place for 2 RVs, great view, noise from highway (small traffic, but big speed and noise).
Report Check-InNice quiet night outside Sequoia National Park. One other car was parked there as well.
Report Check-InNot a bad little spot to hang for the night. Not a lot of room (there was a van, a car and my truck camper). If there was another vehicle, I probably would have to find another place. Overlook is cool. At 7:30pm, there wasn’t that much noise from passing vehicles…a few here and there. The next morning (daylight), I realized that if I drove a little further around the bend, there was a parking lot on the left that had a dirt road which took you right to the lake. Had I known, I wold have spent the night lakeside.
Report Check-InLots of traffic in august until 11:30pm. Ok spot for a highway spot.
Slept in a pop top tent thou so noise was pretty bad
Arrived at 11:30pm, one camper already there, 3 more campers joined us afterwards. Good spot for a night.
Report Check-InNo camping allowed! Got a warning notice on windshield last night and there are no camping signs
Report Check-InSurprisingly amazing! Definitely the best highway pull-off I have ever stayed at. Overlooking Lake Kaweah and the Sierra’s framing it is a splendid view to go to bed to and get up to. Cars really died down by about 9-930 as other people have mentioned but they certainly start back up again early in the morning. Nonetheless the dominant sounds I heard while falling asleep were the sound of crickets and frogs - not bad for the side of a highway. 10/10 recommend in a pinch
Report Check-InThere were some RV/trailers here already, but we had room to stay as well! Good for a night.
Report Check-InSpent last night here 12/30/20 as a mid-point on our trip home. It was easy to find and no one bothered us. Perfect for one night! Good cell reception for AT&T and Verizon. Nice view of the lake although the water is very low this time of year.
Report Check-InGreat quick overnight stay to the park. The road is RIGHt there. However the noise subsided by 11:30. Safe. And beautiful.
Report Check-InJust as described, a dirt pullout area right next to the highway behind a bunker. I didn’t experience much traffic noise and no one bothered me. Pretty sunset/sunrise view.
Report Check-InNice spot for the night, as others said traffic dies down at night. Be warned the entrance/exit to this spot closest to the recreation area has a large drainage ditch you have to drive over. Some vehicles should be fine but our longer van probably would have bottomed out so we came in from the other entrance further from the recreation area. No big deal
Report Check-InWe did not stay here. This spot is barely off the road and very visible from the road. had to find another spot.
Report Check-In4 Bars Verizon LTE
2 Bars AT&T LTE
Beautiful sunrise view of the lake below
Had a little road noise but it basically stopped around 10, started back at 6.
Report Check-InThis spot is beautiful. Not a good tent spot but great for Rigs big and small. Easy pull off the main road onto what used to be the road. Little bit of road noise but I imagine it will calm down as the night goings on. 2 bars LTE AT&T, 4 bars for Verizon
Report Check-Inbehind dirt bunker on old asphalt off highway camp spot overlooking lake!
