Very nice place to sleep in rest area before Hyder with toilet, located without waste directly at a beautiful calm lake. No traffic ...
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
cute spot. there is one actual spot & a parking area. We got lucky and got the spot, arrived around 4pm on a Sunday. my bf walked the muddy trail back and there were no more spots back further.
Report Check-InA lovely spot as everybody has said. Do not drive up the trail unless you have a real 4x4 as there is no where to turn round and you have to reverse all the way back - the Milepost was not exactly clear about this. Rely on iOverlander description instead!
Report Check-InQuiet place. In the morning, we rowed on the lake with a boat moored at the beach, for everybody's free use.
Report Check-InAmazing location with the lake and the mountains around. However it is tiny, a bit wet/muddy and the forest is really dense. No clear views of the sky.
Report Check-InThere was a 24 foot RV and me there. Small pond with 4 to 5 sites. Not suitable for long trailers.
Report Check-InSmooth road in, Google maps wants you to turn much earlier if coming from the northwest, just keep going and look for the signage. Kind of muddy, bit of a free-for-all
Report Check-InGreat place on the lake, no designated site spots. Locals hangout here fishing, canoeing and swimming.
Report Check-InFantastic little spot, especially if you get it on your own. As noted there’s no individual sites other than one just past the main opening. The lake is lovely to paddle on with bears and a beaver, cascades and snow-capped peaks. We really enjoyed our stay despite the bugs which are everywhere.
Report Check-InAs described. Not too many people there at this tome of year.
A lot of bugs.
The previous reviews do a great job at explaining this place, it’s quiet and tranquil which is nice. No privacy though. The lake is a little dirty to swim in but the floating picnic table was fun. There’s also some good fishing in the lake! As noted, the best place to camp is right in the parking lot by the lake, otherwise there is one spot a bit past the parking lot. Do not continue to follow the road, there is nothing else except for steep trails that are hard to turn around/reverse out of.
Report Check-InAs described. Free rec site with beautiful views. Nobody here except us today.
Report Check-InWe were looking for a place to stay that would be convenient to visit Stewart/Hyder. We’re self-contained in our 8 metre (25 foot) MH and don’t use the facilities. We stayed on a weeknight in mid-September. There were 3 other RVs overnighting with us. There are no formal sites here. There’s one spot in the trees at the far end of the parking lot and another at the near end of the parking lot near a log, both on the lake side. Otherwise, park in the open lot – big enough for 4-5 RVs. Not much room to turn around if the lot is full. As noted by another review, there appears to be a road at the end of the lot. There are no other sites, the road quickly turns into a walking path. There’s no trash – pack it out. There’s no water. There's an outhouse. There’s a week ATT/Telus signal we were able to use with a booster. There’s no Verizon. The lake is pretty. The floating dock and floating picnic table look like fun. There are picnic tables to share on the beach. Decent road in on a very rainy day/night.
Report Check-InEndroit superbe plusieurs places bord du lac vu sur la montagne et cascade
Report Check-InStill the same! Very nice place to stay, quiet in the night. The floating picnic table still here. Thanks for sharing this loved place.
Report Check-InNice spot. We backed into the first lot after the big parking lot. A deep puddle to cross, but then a perfect spot right on the lake, with fire bit and benches. Very quiet, great view.
Report Check-InHello
Realy nice place to park your motorhome for the night.
We have a motorhome (8.1 meters long, 2.5 and 3.7 high) and it was ok .
Bur take care if there is too much people it can be hard to make a U turn.
We was 5this night.
Qieur place and realy nice view.
Enjoy.
As described. Very nice little place for free camping. Easy access, away from highway. Quiet. A few other people but really not bad.
Report Check-InCouldn’t have found a better spot if I tried!! Wonderful views and refreshing lake!
Report Check-Inune très belle place ,pour environ 7 à 8 campeurs, stationnement en gravel a côté d'un lac, tranquille, belle vue sur la montagne.
Report Check-InStayed two nights, before and after Salmon Glacier. The view is beautiful. The floating picnic table makes the stop an experience. There’s also a floating platform in the middle of the lake.
The 1km gravel road is perfect with no holes. When you see the lake, park there and don’t go farther because you’ll have to back up. Only one site in the forest and one more by the rocks by the beach. The others have to park side by side across from the beach, which is ok. Not for large rigs. One pickup with trailer came, and they had to unhook and use two parking spots. No mosquitoes (compare to other spots).
Perfect for tents on the grassy beach. Narrow cars (Westfalia) can also make their way to the grass between boulders, we saw one.
Pit toilet, fire rings and picnic tables.
Report Check-InBeautiful. Camp right next to the lake. This is a small area. The floating picnic table is so much fun! Pit toilet. 15-20 minutes from Stewart.
Report Check-InBeautiful. Fun of traveling early season, we were only two vans here.
Free, fire pit, picnic tables, very quiet and cute little trails to do around the site.
Stayed for the second time! Beautiful place. Still crowded.
Report Check-InArrived late at midnight so the place was most crowded- we took our change along the forest road, it was pretty dark in this forest...be sure you have your flashlight ready if you come in late;we had a calm night
Report Check-InBeautiful but small area . There is no loop at the end so if your a larger rig, and the last space in the back is already taken, park at the picnic area/ beach side. We just stayed for a while enjoying the lake with our kayaks. Good bird viewing and saw a bat.
Report Check-InWe stayed two nights at this Recreation Site. The first night we slept a bit in the forest. It’s more quiet and private but a bit dark without sun. The second night we slept at the parking lot and it was very very crowded. For us a bit too crowded. It’s a nice lake with a great view to the waterfalls on the mountain.
Report Check-InNice little recreational area with a few free campsites on a pretty lake. When we were here the campsite (at coordinates) just down the road from the main area had an awesome little barge with a picnic table tethered to a tree that you could push out into the lake.
Report Check-InGreat view of mountains across lake. Nice and quiet, ok for swimming. Pack your garbage out please!
Report Check-InNice spot with swimmable lake and poontoon. View on the mountains, glacier and waterfall. Picnic tables are grouped and a little distance from parking area. No individual campsites. Not suitable for big rigs
Report Check-InThere are 5 spots but 4 of them are all right next to each other. We didn't stay but it would be nice if you were alone.
Report Check-Inwe are going in this beautiful place with my motorhome , around 24 feet . many bears near this camp , and at this date it was free .
Report Check-InVery nice place to sleep in rest area before Hyder with toilet, located without waste directly at a beautiful calm lake. No traffic ...
