Took the long washboard road out to Dona Lala's restaurant and camping area. Not well maintained, but Mrs. Lala is a nice and kind lady who fixed us a delicous seafood meal - a kind of a soup with lots of seafood in it. Very delicious. The bathrooms are not clean - sadly. 250 Pesos/night. I think that this place may not have recoved from a hurricane. Worth a visit to eat here and meet Mrs. Lala.

Report Check-In

the restaurant is gone, destroyed by the recent hurricane. there is camping still but no services. 250 pesos per night. millions of shells on the beach.

Report Check-In

Run down and does not function as a restaurant. Limited electric to one string of dull lights over table that Lala uses for crafts and serves small dishes, with questionable sanitation and at higher prices. Not recommend.

Report Check-In

Close to the restaurant, there is a beach where we slept and spend all day. Beautiful birds and views. Close to the restaurants, there are some dogs who came close to our car and doesn’t seem the most friendly, but they just left and everything was ok. We really enjoyed the place, beautiful shells, and it’s a very nice place for relax. We recommend !!

Excellent and beautiful family, I have a dog and they warned me of the risk of getting it down. The owner made Shure of walking away his dogs so mine could run for a while, you can stay on the dunes in the other side but there are coyotes , even near the house . I understand wild dogs are at the yard for letting coyotes and wild dogs out of the property.
I could watch gray whales and dolphins while staying here and my dog went in the “panga” (boat). Two nights. Excellent machaca de pescado.
Have to try scallops and the oysters.
They sell artesanía too.
They didn’t charged me for the meals I had , so I gave them 500 pesos for two nights they treated me like family.
If you like or need hook ups go to another place .

Pass this one by. It is a disgusting junkyard with several junkyard dogs. Would not even stay there if it was free.

Report Check-In

We paid 100 pesos. Proprietor said his dogs were ok, but two big pit bull types got my dog on the ground in a nasty dog fight within one minute of him getting out of the vehicle. My husband and the proprietor got them apart, but I tried to take my dog out before bed and the pack of dogs (at least four big dogs) tried to attack again and wouldn’t back off at all. If you have dogs, don’t camp here.

Beautiful place, good fish, toilets out of order. We paied for our RV and 2 persons 300 Pesos.

Report Check-In

600 pesos for two plates! A tourist catch! Domaage because it's good cooking and the place is very beautiful... it doesn't show the price. surprise at the time of paying!

Report Check-In

Life is hard out here. Husband and wife team are struggling to fish all day and run a simple kitchen. Gotta be tough. The 200 pesos I paid could be their only cash for the week. Dogs are hungry sometimes noisy.

Report Check-In

The place is as discribed and I agree with others, not really worth the passos unless you want to use the resturant. There was a noise party happening when we arrived so we left and camped in the marshes 400 meters away.

Report Check-In

Decent place to stay. Parked my van and enjoyed a nice sunset. 100 pesos to park and not better than other places around. Felt like the right thing to do but there are other roads in the wetlands out here you could easily drive down and park for free. Might be move if I were in the area again.

Report Check-In

Find some other place to stay if you can. As mentioned, at M$200 way overpriced. Rusty nails all over the palapa area (palapas run down), no running water in bathrooms, and dogs tipping over garbage cans (friendly dogs though). Restaurant not open while we were there so can't speak to that.

Report Check-In

Funky, very local spot run by a really nice family. Not fancy. If you arrive after dark you will be sure you're lost but you're not, the coordinates are correct. Best is local food prepared from the day's catch.

Report Check-In

Nice spot. Great food. We spend the night and bought shrimp and oysters, and then in the morning scallops from Lala. Nice lady that has many good recipes !! Toilet, no showers. Kayak rental .. we paid $100 for camping

Report Check-In

Very quiet night and other than the family that lives here and a couple of fishermen we had the entire place to ourselves. This is the “off season” so there the restaurant wasn’t open. There was an outlet and a light in our own personal wind/sun shelter but no power. Very interesting, peaceful and real. Super glad we chose to stay a night.

Report Check-In

Quiet place near the sea with shelters on the beach against the strong wind. Dirty bathroom, no running water. You have to flush the toilet with a bucket that's on top of the toilet and which looks awful. No showers. Friendly people. Paid 200 pesos, which is too much for the facilities. Did see some dolphins near the shore and the view is amazing. Also saw some nails and screws on the beach, one of them in our tire :-(

Report Check-In

Nice local family, palapas a bit run down. New toilet facility but no running water, fill up a bucket in the barrel and flush.
Nice views. Restaurant was not opened and we paid 200 pesos for the night. Certainly a bit much but did not negotiate.

Report Check-In

This is a simple place with palapas on the beach. We stayed in our van and it was $100pesos however I think you'd be able to get cheaper by discussing with them - we didn't speak good enough Spanish. There are toilets that don't flush and no running water but the guys at the restaurant filled a water bottle up for us to do our dishes - we didn't try the food there though. Very beautiful views.

Report Check-In

Very rustic campground on the north of Laguna de ojos libres. We were very lucky and had whales come right up to shore, c.5m away!! Come here if you are ok with dogs and don't mind getting back to basics (bucket flush toilets and bucket showers) and want peace and tranquillity. 12km from town

Report Check-In

100 pesos per night to park our rig. Restaurant available. Facility is a working fishing spot. Fish and octopus collected daily. Offered us to fish with our own gear for free at end of the restaurant. Shallow water only caught small bait fish. No Wifi, no running water in the showers or toilets. Bucket outside for flushing. Millions of broken clam shells all around. Lots of birds around. Windy.

Report Check-In

Nice place very local with friendly people leaving there. Good restraurant but the look is kind of sketchy. After dinning at the restaurant we negociated the rental of a palata fot 100m$. At first they wanted 200m$.

Report Check-In

stayed here one night
people are nice the the place is ughh....
no water , nasty "toilets"
not worth the 200 mex

Report Check-In

A bit rough around the edges for M$200 per night. Fixed toilets and shower but no running water. Bucket needed to flush toilet. Palapas. Restaurant that the camping belongs to has fresh seafood. Nice family running the place. No wifi but good cell service. Expensive for the facilities. Follow the main road through town and at the 4-way stop after the Banamex bank take a right turn and follow the dirt road. Follow signs for Puerto Viejo.

Report Check-In

Several nice palapas an beach next to good fresh seafood restaurant. Friendly owners. Kayak and paddle boat rentals as well as option for whale watching trips. Lots of good bird watching. One of the palapas has 15amp electrical outlets that work for a few hours in the evening when restaurant generator is running. We stayed here in two large expedition trucks @ 200 pesos per night per truck.
