In Death Valley NP you have back country camping where for free, if you are one mile off pave road, you have 50 feet both side of the gravel road to camp.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
This is a great location with plenty of space for folks to be 50m apart. Please note camping if free but you must obtain a Camping Pass from the visitors centre which you display in your vehicle. Otherwise the Rangers knock on your door at 7pm to tell you about the pass. All very friendly but easier to get the pass
Report Check-InWe didn’t stay here but signage at the entrance from Dante Road says a permit must be obtained from Furnace Creek visitor centre. No camping for the first 1 mile in. No open fires. 4x4 recommend.
Report Check-InA great location and has loads of space between vehicles. Note though that you now need a “Camping Pass’ in Death Valley. These are free and available from the Visitors Centre. Make sure you get one so that the Ranger doesn’t come knocking on your door at 7am to ask about your pass. All very friendly though.

pretty awesome they allow dispersed camping in this national park. road in isn't bad & the spot we took was big you could pull through in.
Report Check-InCamped 2 nights out here. Stars are beautiful. Road into the site is doable in 2WD in our ram Promaster.
Report Check-InNice spot. Enough space for several campers down this road. Windy indeed.
Report Check-Inafter observing sunset at Dantes View, drive here and set up the RTT. Any flat place you can find by the side of gravel road, it will work. as long you are 1 mile away from the paved road. There were few other car campers here too. Nice quiet place. No wifi though.
Report Check-InDecent sites, nothing too special. Was super windy here the night I stayed. The one great thing is that this road is no problem for those in a low clearance car.
