Description

Ideally the area is suited for self-contained vehicles; i.e. rooftop tents, small motorhomes etc; not for stand-alone tents on their own, i.e. cyclists or motorcycles. This is because, particularly in the rainy season, the area can get quite wet. You can visit in the dry times like Winter but just be prepared for them to say no....they simply don't want people to be inconvenienced if they set a tent up and then get inundated with water.

A small grassy area very close to the center of Sucre. It's not signed, but it is a well-known stop for overlanders. Upon arrival you need to track down the owner, Alberto or his wife Felicidad and have them let you in. Alberto may be in his workshop on the property, knock loudly on the red door number 70, or at their house which can be found around the corner at 416 Aniceto Arce. Very friendly people and an excellent (and the only) place to camp in Sucre just a few blocks from the center. They also have a room for rent at the top of the A-frame common area.

Update: The entrance gate is now 3.20 meter wide and no height restrictions. Internet is fast and reliable. Camping outside on the street is possible and would be a good overflow facility for reasonably self-contained campers during peak times especially since passing traffic at night is close to zero.

Great place to park in Sucre! The whole family is adorable and does everything to make us feel comfortable and help us, mechanically or otherwise! We absolutely do not understand the negative comments! You can go there with your eyes closed!

Report Check-In

One of the best campings we have been in South-America. Very clean showers and toilets. Good location just a few blocks away from the city center and main square. Extremely friendly family. Their daughter gave us freshly baked bread and their son helped us fixing some issues with the car. 100BOB per night for two persons and a van. A little bit expensive but definitely worth it!

Report Check-In

had a lovely 3 night stay here over nye and new years ! close to everything, very nice hosts, bathroom + shower and an area to wash dishes / hand wash some small clothes 😊 100bob per night was worth it enough to park the car for 4 days and not deal with holiday traffic

Report Check-In

Pretty much what everyone else has had to say; a good place to stay that’s centrally located in Sucre. We could easily walk to the market, the square, etc. The hosts were very hospitable and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. Louis took me in his car to find a couple of things for the Land Cruiser. Hot showers and leveling blocks.

The only downside is that it IS on the crowded side with 3 other cars while we were there. Another camper was 3’ away. Nice people though and we exchanged experiences. There is no covered area in case of rain.

We paid 100b a night for two and the car. We stayed elsewhere for a couple of nights and paid 50b for the car only. A safe, secure place to park behind a gate/walls with a gate key to come and go as we pleased. We were able to use electricity.

Highlights of Sucre was the inexpensive food at the market, the dance recital and the streets around the main square were blocked to cars on Sunday with great live music in the afternoon. Not to be missed.

All in all a good stay. We would stay again.

Report Check-In

Amazing place, we loved staying here! The property is quiet and has some beautiful flowering trees, it is super close to the market and central square, there are two well maintained bathrooms, and the family is super kind and welcoming. We also had more than enough space to have our matt, chairs and table out, as did the other overlander staying at the property, so no concern about space. Would recommend staying here!

Report Check-In

This is the place to Go in Sucre! Safe, organized, clean. And the owners really are helpful for anykind of problem you may have.
I got Support Findling the Right contacts for a repair on my car! I Highly recommend this Camping!

Report Check-In

Don“t miss staying with this family when you are in Sucre. They will do just everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We have got a heartwarming welcome although we arrived very late in the evening because of bad weather and road-conditions. Luis and Alberto waited for us and they made sure, that we had everything we needed for the first night before they left. Next day they cuttend some branches from their big trees so that we could get the best spot for our 3,30 m high truck. Luis went with us to the petrol-station twice in his private car to get Diesel into our Jerry cans because at this time no petrol-Station between Copacabana and Sucre were willing to fill them and he and his sister Felicidad provided us with all information we might need and more. Yes, the area is very small and we don’t know how it is when it’s really full, there were only 2 trucks inside during the 3 days of our stay and it was just perfect. It’s also full of trees and wonderful flowers, the bathrooms are super clean, the showers are hot and it’s located really close to the center of Sucre. In our opinion it‘s worth each cent, not too expensive for a city-Location and we can recommend it highly. Luis and Felicidad speak very good English, Luis additionally very good German. It’s a good idea to call or send them a message before arriving because they don‘t live on the site and it makes everything easier for both sides. Felicidad: +591 (7) 442-7260

We are at the only campsite in this town, rather a house which rents its garden to camper vans and still no more than 4... despite the disparaging comments from some on IOverlander the welcome is very good and the service too! It must be said that THE owner is absent, only the son and the father are there...also visiting Carolina the daughter who gave us very good advice...

We spent 3 nights at this campsite. There were two other campers and there was enough space (but it might get crowded with more). Good and clean facilities and friendly owners who gave us tips on where to go in the city. Really well located, easy to arrive and leave by car and close to the city centre. Communication went smooth, it helps thay we speak Spanish, but the daughter also speaks fluent English. Recommended.

Can't understand the last two comments. Yes, the place is small but there is enough space for everyone if you park well. There are two bathrooms with toilet and more or less hot shower. All in all it's not much but enough and Alberto and Felicidad where very nice. And if you have a problem with your car or anything else Louis, the son of the owners, will help you a lot with finding parts or a good taller.
The location of the place is very close to the city center. For us it was the perfect place in Sucre

Very nice place to visit Sucre. It is a small place, but we came in with our 9 T truck. The owners are very kind and helpful. We had a technical problem and Luis helped us to fix it. Thanks a lot, we would love to come back on day.

Report Check-In

Catastrophic, a very unpleasant welcome from the owner of the place. There is a minimum of space for our vehicles. The main thing for it is to fit as many vehicles as possible into a small space with sloping ground. Friends couldn't even fully open the door of their vehicle because the others were so glued to them.
Only the owner's son was very helpful and kind.
The toilets have no paper, the shower is lukewarm and just taking out our satellite antenna disturbed this lady. All for 100 Bolivian bol. A scam.

Not a good experience with this campsite! When we arrived, we received a warm welcome, but that soon appeared to change. The campsite is 50BS per person and there is no kitchen, no common area and there is a sink where you can wash your laundry but that is also used for washing dishes at the same time. When we asked if we could get a more competitive price because we don't use electricity with our car with rooftop tent, she was offended and told us to find something else. Since there is not much choice in Sucre, we decided to stay. The next day, when we discussed changing our tyres with the owner's son, the owner turned out to have become furious with other campsite visitors about us "just leaving". This while our table and chairs were still on our spot. When we returned, she had locked the gate and given our spot to someone else. A very unusual situation that we wanted to resolve nicely, but unfortunately there was no adult conversation to be had. We had not followed her rules and she was the boss, so it was her right to give our spot away to others. This while we had mentioned beforehand that we were going to buy new tyres. After this "incident", we were still given another spot because there was still room on the campsite. She never took her eyes off us again and was very rude to us. We discussed this with the other visitors and also they didn't like the way this woman behaved. She knows she is one of the few campsites and therefore she exudes a certain arrogance. Similarly, she indicated that big campers had enough money to pay for the camping anyway. If you have the chance, find another campsite.

Very warm welcome and very well located in the city center. We spend 5 days with a lot of pleasure. The owners are very good advice and very attentive to cleanliness.

Report Check-In

Great place to stay downtown. Hot water, Wi-Fi, bathrooms, laundry… we stayed for 5 days and explored the town. Highly recommended.

Report Check-In

As said before everything lovely. 100 Bolivianos included electricity and our little one didn’t have to pay extra. The wifi was good, you just need to be near their cabana. We were grateful to be able to hand wash our clothes. Alberto really is a master with electrics he solved a problem we had had for a while. He didn’t want anything for his help either. I think the price is fair for a city location.

Report Check-In

Definitely call first to make sure there’s space as the area isn’t huge. We just managed to get our truck camper in! Very nice camping with good facilities and nice owners. The location is very central and convenient for exploring the city on foot. 100bol / night.

This is a very nice little place run by wonderful, warm and loving people who do everything to make their guests feel comfortable.

Report Check-In

Oh man, we can not give enough compliments for the kindness of Alberto and Felicidad, but in particular their daughter Carolina as well.

We reached out in the morning of our arrival day to Carolina, via the number listed in one of the previous comments here. But, about an hour away from Sucre we got caught-up in a big road block / protest. Carolina was super helpful to provide us with context, advise and update around the situation. More importantly, she was always on standby and willing to welcome us, even if late at night. And so it happened - After 6 hours of waiting we were let go and arrived at 01:00 a.m., where Alberto and Felicidad were both waiting for us to let us in and feel welcome!

We stayed 2 nights and the place is in walking distance from the beautiful city center and totally safe. It is totally safe and secure for your vehicle, they have electricity, potable water and nice toilets and showers.

Can’t recommend enough to give them a visit and enjoy this surprisingly beautiful city :)

Great place to stay! Perfect located in Sucre, very lovely and helpful owner family and everything is very clean, calm and beautiful. Hot showers. We stayed here much longer than we planed ;)

Report Check-In

just checking in to confirm potable water. only 23ppm on the TDS tester. that's almost bottled water clean! nice big sink to wash clothes and tons of lines to hang it all up. another thing worth noting is that the hosts don't live here. they live just around the corner. she comes by a couple of times a day clean up and his workshop is here, but I think it's best to reach out first or be prepared to wait as they combined might spend 3 hours a day here. dog friendly.

Report Check-In

It’s a lovely place in the heart of Sucre. It’s a grassy yard with pretty flower trees, one cabaña and the workshop of Alberto who comes from time to time. Felicidad is in charge of the camping. They are both lovely sweet people and it’s a pleasure to stay at their place. Showers are hot and clean, it’s just few minutes walk to the main square. We were thinking of staying for 2 days but we ended up staying 4 because we liked Sucre a lot.

Report Check-In

We stayed for one night. Alberto and Felicidad are very lovely and the bathrooms are clean. But the space is very thight, we were six overlanders at the same time! For us to thight and expensive (50 Bols p.P.p.N.), we change the campside and heading to Isabella.

Report Check-In

Highly recommend this campsite. It is 100B for two, so the priciest campsite in Bolivia. But tue location is perfect, camp setting is nice with the green grass, and working wifi. Felicidad and her husband are SUPER helpful. Any problems you might have, they’re there to help. They even offer to take your jerry cans to go get gas for you.

Only space for 3 overland vehicles, so be sure to message ahead for availability. Maybe only 1 spot for big rigs, since it’s a small lot.

Report Check-In

Thanks a lot to Felicidad and Alberto
Cherry on the cake, if you have electrical issue you can ask to Alberto : it's a master !!!

Report Check-In

The only campground in Sucre so not much of a choice :)
Access might be tricky but doable, 4 rigs can fit and there'snot height restriction. Ideal location to walk around town and visit the city.
Average Wi-fi, clean showers and bathrooms, you can refill your water tank with potable water and use the gas I the kitchen.
Felicidades helped us out with a medical issue (her daughter is a doctor), she's a really sweet lady :)
50 bol pp/night, that's expensive for Bolivia but that's your best option if you want to stay in the center of Sucre.

Report Check-In

This place was exactly what we needed: safe, quiet, hot showers, lovely owners, kitchen, good wifi and a lot of space for hanging wet clothes. Big recommendation!

Report Check-In

We stayed a few nights. 50 bol pp/pn. Great location to explore Sucre. Accommodating hosts. Two well-appointed bathrooms, kitchen and sitting area. Access is a bit tight and a large rig might have a tight fit. Suggest only 4 campers can park very closely together. Getting to the campground is challenging as you must drive through the city.

Report Check-In

Very nice camping area close to downtown. Hot showers, great WiFi, super hosts. Felicidad gave us a map with lots of hints. Was 100Bs per night for camper and 2 persons.

Report Check-In

100 bolivianos for 2 people + vehicle per night. That gets you secured parking, good location (less than 10 minutes from the Center), average WiFi, hot shower, toilet and sink (no toilet paper), a small kitchen, and a common area to eat, read, do computer work, or just hang out. We met friendly Overlanders, which is always a nice bonus and makes the experience much better. We definitely recommend this campground if you come to Sucre, everything was close: mercado, supermarket, laundry and all tourist attractions. Alberto was friendly and talkative, gave us a map and recommendations, and was available when needed. We really enjoyed our time here!

Report Check-In

Great spot. Has everything you need and is close to the city center.

Report Check-In

Really lovely place. Close to downtown, average WiFi, nice kitchen and potable water. We called Felicidad on WhatsApp at 8pm to ask if there was room and when we arrived 20 minutes later, Alberto was outside waiting to open the gates for us. We also were here around the time of unrest related to the elections and while Alberto told us everything in the whole city was tranquilo (which was definitely wrong), he also welcomed us to wake him up at any hour of the night to open the gates if we decided to leave. We ended up leaving at 11pm (and barely made it out) and Alberto was incredibly kind and accommodating. Would definitely recommend.

Very nice small campground. 6/7 places for RV. Alberto, the owner, very nice person: he helped me to find a good mechanic to fix my VW California. Kitchen with stove and potable water. 2 toilets with “hot water” showers. 15 min walking to center town. Perfect for overnight in Sucre. Since my California was broken, Alberto offers me to sleep in the room on top of the small cabaña. Big room on ground for eating, good WiFi optical fiber. Strength recommended.

We really enjoyed this place, probably because we had it all to ourselves! :) Big grassy area to park, pieces of wood to level out. Bathrooms were ok, no tp, hot shower. Small kitchen, a communal room, pila to wash clothes, good WiFi. Close to center! Alberto was super friendly, helped schedule a time to see a mechanic, and gave us many recommendations. We paid 100 per night for 2 people in a van. Great place to relax and still be close to the center!

Report Check-In

I don’t know why some people didn’t like this place. Alberto is very nice, the grassy garden is full of flowers, the common room is useful, the bathrooms are clean (no toilet papier, though...)
We were only two vans for three days.
Be careful the gate is narrow, we hit slightly the rig. And we had to wait for Alberto to leave so that he opens the door...

Report Check-In

A small but lovely little campsite in the centre of Sucre. Alberto is very friendly and welcoming. There is only space for 4 vehicles but it's worth checking out; there's a nice dining room for hanging out, small kitchen, potable water, Wi-Fi, and 2 banos. Both bathrooms were very clean the whole time we were there- I suspect other reviews complaining about messy bathrooms should hold their fellow campers responsible!

We loved it here. Great location of course, and owners extremely helpful and kind to the kids, letting them play with random stuff around the yard. The space issue...yep, it can be quite tight here but I think it's all about the company you keep. We've been here a while since our truck is getting repaired, and have watched the place empty and fill up numerous times, with vehicles needing to move around to fit, and let others out. But we knew two of the other rigs, recognized another from the road, another from iOverlander posts, etc. We all get along and are enjoying sharing the tiny bits of garden and green space that open up when another truck, RV, or van leaves. I think our max at one point was 8 rigs!!

About the bathroom. It's kinda odd that keys are handed out for the second bathroom. We were given key once we became the "senior" residents and told to share with the other campers that were our friends. But we and the others that got keys, simply decided to not lock the bathroom, so everyone could share, and it's all worked out fine.

Wifi has been decent, sometimes spotty, but mostly good.

Last Tip: If you need LP, the gas truck drives by almost every day ringing a bell. We ran out and asked he he could fill our US tank, he couldn't. But he sold us a tank and let us use our own adaptor and hose and waited while we did a tank-to-tank fill, then took his empty tank back.

Report Check-In

Perfect place to visit Sucre with a motorhome and stay a few days. The first night, because the place was packed with motorhomes, we parked outside the gate which was ok for us. Friendly and very helpful owners.

Report Check-In

We were camped in the park for a night and asked if we could rent a shower and they gave us a really strong No. They said if we wanted to move our rig closer to their gate (still on the street :/ ) we could pay to stay the night. Weird because their was obviously too many people there for them to handle and it had that motor home camp vibe. Basically we left with a bad taste of the place.

Report Check-In

The camping is well equipped with all the facilities: electricity, wifi, water, hot showers and toilets. The price is a little bit expensive for Bolivia (100 Bol per night for the van including 2 adults and our daughter) but it worths as you can enjoy Sucre without your car,all is walking distance.
The only inconvénient is that there are too many vans in their garden ; it is more a parking than a camping after 3 or 4 vans...but Felicidad and Alberto are really nice and helpful. It worths!

Report Check-In

We stayed here for 3 nights and can't really share the enthusiasm of some people.

Pros:
+ Friendly owners
+ Great location
+ Great to meet other overlanders

Cons:
- Six cars (including one 10 ton truck) while we were there. There was barely enough space to open the door
- Only the old bathroom was open and it was downright dirty. Daddy longlegs everywhere and apart from the trash bin being emptied, it didn't seem like it was cleaned once
- The way the property is set up, some cars have to get out for others to get in. So be prepared to either inconvenience other travellers or be inconvenienced (depending on where your car is parked)

To sum it up: we would not recommend the campground as it is overpriced for what it is. There may be a new bathroom but we neither saw it, nor were we allowed to use it. Other overlanders wrote that it is not an official campground and that it should be taken for what it is. We think that if you are charging $$$ like a real campground, you can expect it to offer services like a real campground.
We think if some of the money would be taken to built a second gate (to make getting in and out lot easier) and to renovate the old bathroom/kitchen, the place would be amazing and it would surely pay off in no time. 👍🏻

Report Check-In

Good spot, we were we our big camping car and there were also a 4wd and 2 vans. Space is fine, you have water, power, wifi, small kitchen and it's a 5 min walk from the center. Don't forget it's not an official camp site so take it for watch it is. Above that, Felucidad and her husband and cool and warm.

Report Check-In

If you expect to be only 4. It's a mistake! We arrived, we were 3. We left because we are 6! Money is stronger than good living or happyness! The later overlander doesn't care or doesn't respect the first! l cannot understand this way of unrespect! The owner said It's only for one night, but finally other truck came and it was each day the same!
The owner prefere to say how many days the other travellers stay than to know if they fill good (some stay because they are waiting some parts for their car) ! We cannot fill good, when the next truck stay at less 1m from your door.
If you have children you have to use only the old and small bathroom that everybody use, even their employer! the new and big other is only with key! Why? If they don't want kids it's better to say no!
Yes it's really good located, but there is another one (Egil B&B Quechua, calle Serrano 149) for 50Bs with breakfast, maybe we were there more like a camping than a parking lot! We go there, I will put a flag.
The owner said that he can refill our french gaz bottle. So we didn't try Planta Gas. But finally he didn't.
I don't recommend this place!

Report Check-In

We returned here after attempting to leave Sucre but had truck trouble. Needed parts from US and it was the perfect place to spend the waiting time with other overlanders, decent weather, lots within walking distance. Alberto & Felicidad are warm and welcoming. Their daughter, Carolina, helped several of us with medical tests and appointments and they do it all with warmth and a smile. This is a home away from home in Sucre!
NOTE: There is no room to rent here. If it is dry season, Alberto will allow a tent.

Report Check-In

Friendly owners and nice amenities with awesome location! Wifi consistent though not as fast as previously claimed but faster than most places we've been to in this country for sure. Two clean bathrooms with showers and toilets have seats but supply your own paper. Super place to stay in a great location. Still 100B for two per night (80 for one). Everything you might need in walking distance.

Report Check-In

I dont think that there is much I can add to this other than it was aprivilage to stay here. Felicidad and Alberto are the nicest people on the planet and will help you with anything you require. 10 minute walk from Plaza and a great place to meet up with great overlanders.
I could not recommend this place more. It is great. went for 2 days stayed for 2 weeks

Report Check-In

Hello
We have a motorhome of 9 tonnes with 8.1 m long, 2,5 large, and 3.7 high. We have tried to go to the place but after 2 or 3 times I preferred to stop before damaging my truck.
We stay outside in the street, it was a little noisy like every town, but I think that inside the camping place it's quiet. Alberto was really nice with our family.
We have access to the toilets, the community place, we have electricity, water and wifi. So all the convenience like we were inside the camping place.
We paid 50 bols per day. For us, this was OK because Alberto looked after our truck during the day when we visit the town.
Just one little story: I broke my rearview mirror on the road (really bad road...!!!!) I used his workshop to repair it and he help me during one day to build a reinforcement piece and do weld an iron piece. I was asked for nothing for this work. So yes, they win money with overlander and it's normal because they propose a service. But I think it's a good man who likes people who travel. This place is perfect to visit the town.

Great place to visit Sucre. All as described. Comfortable and really close to the city centre. Pay attention on other decriptions how to find the owners (they are not always there). 100BOB per night (2pers + car).

Report Check-In

Very nice place, we stayed here 2 weeks and really enjoyed it. Felicidad and Alberto are wonderful hosts who helps you with everything you need. Their daughter made an appointment with a chiropractor for my husband. The place is very clean and quiet at walking distance to the city center, shops and mercado. Clean hot showers, electricity and good Wifi. Definitely a place to stay for a few days.

top location will suit big rigs. Alberto and Felicidad will do anything to make your stay enjoyable. clean toilets, hot showers, fast wifi, close to city centre. but it will only fit 4 big rigs. or around 6 possible 7 landcruisers

Report Check-In

Great camp host, clean toilets and showers. close to city centre. big rigs will fit. But 4 big rigs will fill the place.

Report Check-In

A peaceful little garden in the middle of a bustling city - perfect. Showers very nice, wifi good, hummingbirds in the flowering trees. Felicidad anf Alberto are really nice and welcoming.

Still 100 bol per night (family with big truck too).

The lady next door (Lourdes) plans to open her garden to overlanders, too. Not quite ready yet, maybe end of the year? If she sticks to her plans this will be another good option, a similarly safe and sheltered garden with flowers and trees.

Report Check-In

Agree with all previous coments . . except for Pin (everyone has their own opinion i suppose and who says there should be a universal price for travelers....its there business they can charge what they want!)
Just wanted to add that the Daughter helpped us so much with a doctors appointment and organising Physio for my wifes sore shoulder; she went out of her way to help us. Also the position of this place being only a 10 minute walk to the centre if town was perfect. We have also included and Update at request

Report Check-In

The Pin Project (19.3.2018) is right, this is not a camp ground like you find in Italy. But all the rest is nonsense: it is the best, small place you can get in Sucre, for a reasonable price 100Bol per car / couple. Shady trees and a flower garden makes the stay natural. A clean, new bath with hot shower and toilet, a washing place for clothes and separate for dishes are ready for use. A common room for eating / discussions prevents you from cold meetings around the cars. Finally the owners: they care about you, give advice for your stroll in the city. What do you need more? Oh, yes, the WiFi, the most important thing when travelling: faster than anywhere in Bolivia.
If you come to the closed door nr.70 and nobody answers your knocking, go down the street left 150m to calle Aniceto Arce 416. Maybe Felicidad is just sleeping in the afternoon.
This place is highly recommended (but can be overcrowded. Max 5-7 vehicles

weird habits with the two bathrooms (vip guests are allowed to use the new one) which where not cleaned during a whole week we where there stuck because of road blockages. all in all a good place

Report Check-In

Not sure why the last entry is so grumpy, this place is great and run by the some of the kindest most accomodating folks you'll meet. It's in the city so its a tight space but has all you could ask for.

Report Check-In

Over priced, over rated place. Its not a camping!!! People who consider it as camping, probably they have not been in real campings (sarcasm.. I am sure they have been). Its just a property in the middle of the city with SOME grass. They dont grow grass.. its just a matter of luck that instead of mud, this parking lot has some spots of grass. And yes, they are happy & hospitable because they make money out of nothing. Its not even registered. The only good thing is fast internet & hot showers. But its way too above the universal price of 5 USD pppn that should be charged to travellers with self-contained cars! Good stay but not recommended. Unfortunately, this is the average price in all poor Bolivia (50 BOL pppn). You can try at Javier’s yard for 70 per night. Much nicer host & better facilities as well also near city center. He doesnt have grass though..

There is a kitchen, a place to work with the Laptop, good wifi and the bathrooms are kept clean, the showers are HOT! The son speaks fluent english and german.

Loved staying here, a neat and tidy camp and very hospitable hosts Alberto and Felicidad. Alberto got an electrical part for us and their daughter Carolina was very helpful when we needed translation at the bank
Met some lovely fellow Overlanders as well.

Report Check-In

This place is central but expensive. Showers are fairly warm. You can use electricity and gas but we were not allowed to eat in the "lounge". Felicidad is not really friendly she can be quite "mala honda" if something bothers her. Alberto seems to be much more friendly. 100 bol for 2 adults and 20 for the two kids is too much. All in all it suited us as its close to the market - nada mas !

Good place to stay in Sucre, all you need is in walking distance.
They have only two toilets. If there many peoples (familys) its not enough.
Felicidad and Alberto are very hospitality and nice

Conseguimos conhecer Sucre bem tranquilos.

Report Check-In

It might be a little expensive for camping (80 bol.), but over all it´s definetely worth it. Real camping in walking distance to the center, a little kitchen, good wifi, cosy indoor lounge, electricity, good showers and toilets, it´s quiet, perfectly safe - and - there´s a good chance of meeting overlanders!.
And if you need a mechanic, coming through Alberto to José, a very good one, you´ll get a very fair price, which can be worth much more, than saving a few bolivianos on camping. He even comes to the campsite for bigger vehicles. Alberto, his wife and daughter are also trying to help with anything else as good as they can. I had a great time.

Report Check-In

I am sure this place is great but unfortunately Felicidad was not here when we came and Alberto tried to sell us the place for 100bob the night for the 2 of us (we own a small van - hyundai h100 - and not a big rig). This is a non-sense since 1 block away at the Pachamama hostel, we have been able to park the van and receive a matrimonial room (with private bathroom) for 100bob...

If you have a small van I strongly recommend you check at the Pachamama before going to Felicidad and Alberto.

Report Check-In

Nice place in town. Kind owners. Many facilities at this place.

Report Check-In

We had a great stay at Alberto's! He was very welcoming, the facilities are great.. electricity, fast wifi, hot showers with good pressure, and Alberto and his daughter Carolina also helped us out with nearby mechanic, and lavandería recommendations.. Unfortunately Felicidad was away during our stay so we didn't get to meet her. So nice to have a central place to base ourselves from in the city with an outdoor garden area and also an indoor dining area.. a bit of luxury when you live in a car!

Report Check-In

Had a long driving day and finally arrived at the campground. Felicidad wanted us to pay 200bs per night for the car and family but then Alberto mentioned to her that he quoted 150bs to us earlier. Even at 150bs, that is a lot, if not the most we've been charged in all of South America. We mentioned we don't need any services as we are fully self contained (we have a 110v rig, kitchen and shower within). She seemed not to believe us about having hot water and she said we would need her electricity. Finally we convinced her we were self sufficient by telling her we had propane tanks. She then focused on wifi, which yes we did want to use. She then asked us what we would like to pay, we offered 100bs for the car as that was the price written in one of the recent posts. She yelled, "No!", made some gestures and showed us the door. I thought it was really rude. Then she stormed off back to her house. Alberto seemed super nice but embarrassed he couldn't help as he called his wife the "Minister of Finance". We left. Too bad, great comments here but a bit of a monopoly. If she wasn't willing to negotiate, she shouldn't have asked what we wanted to pay. Small area but very well maintained from what I saw. We are now at -19.040311, -65.263952 paying 15bs for a secure park, three times as large. Flat and suitable for big rigs. See our other post.

nice camp really close to city. owners are very helpful and friendly. toilets and showers are very clean. WiFi upload is really fast, great to make a backup. download is either fast enough to watch a movie or too slow to check your email. We where really happy to find this place. Only some minutes to walk to the plaza and to the market. The place had all what we needed incl. good wifi. There is space only for max. 4 motorhomes/ VW bus size or similar. The owners are very friendly. So far as I know, they don't take people with only a tent. The entrance gate is now 3,20m wide! It's absolutely WRONG if people write the place is unfriendly only because they cannot accept there price. Well worth to visit is the museo asur arte de indigena pos. s19.05380 w65.25380 open from 9-12.30 and 14.30-18.00. fee 22 bol. p/p. With a taxi to the museo we paid 10 bol. plus a tip.

very good place to stay in Sucre. Nice and discreet owners. good amenities, really fast Wi-Fi. and very central to visit the city : just a few blocs from main place !
only problem : the dogs from the neighbourhood which bark a lot at night, but nothing you can do about, neither Alberto or Felicitades

Report Check-In

We have been here for three days so far and the friendly reception and unstinting assistance have continued the whole time. Unlike many campgrounds that are crumbling into the mud, here they continue to put their earnings back into the business, including recent upgrades to the internet - now quite fast and reliable - as well as increasing the width of the gate so we could park inside rather than out on the street.
As for the cost? $14 us dollars per day for absolute security, electricity, internet, common room, water, toilets and shower and basic laundry and kitchen with sunny aspect well off the main roads with good local transport at the end of the street close to the middle of a premier tourist destination, and with all the help you could ask for from the owners!!!!!! Some peoples expectations are quite unrealistic. Wait until you get into Brazil or Chile.
BTW Alberto, and especially Felicidad, are concerned that one recent isolated incident - borne out of trying to help campers rather than to make money - has been given too much credence. All the appreciative comments posted in the visitors' book give the true picture .
The place is open, the locals are friendly, and overlanders are very, very welcome

We stayed two nights. It seems like the best option in town for a place off the street. Yes it is a bit expensive but very close to the center and mostly clean and comfortable with good wifi. They actually have toilet seats (but no paper). As others have indicated it is a very small space and would be tight and tough to level out with more than four or five vehicles. Felicidad is very sweet and hospitable.

Report Check-In

very expensive for what it is, very unfriendly people !

Report Check-In

Sometimes you have got to stay longer to see the people behind the faces. We stayed 5 nights.
Our friends were not allowed to leave the camping to go to their appointment with the mechanic because the camping is too full and too many cars would have to move.
And if they leave the camping they were are not allowed to come back.
So the owners threw them out in the most unfriendly way you could imagine. Wow.

By the way: Hostal Pachamama is the same price for a room or it might be also possible to camp there.

And: bathrooms are probably cleaned every day at other places.

The smile on the owners face? Sure. Camping is full, money is coming. But there will be a second camping soon in Sucre. Money change people.

Report Check-In

Nice spot with very nice owners directly in the centre of town.
We liked it here the first days.
But:
There is space for 4-5 cars. But they squeeze 8 cars inside so you barely can open the door or find your way to the bathroom. Toilets were clean but they only clean every now and then.
If one wants to leave everyone has to move... 3 out of 5 stars.

Report Check-In

What a nice place to enjoy yourself after a long trip on the bolivian roads. Alberto and Felicidad are very friendly and extremely helpful owner of this small campground. They just recently widend the entrance gate to 3,20m so now it's also possible for wider rigs to enter. But be aware, that it's still not a big camping space inside.

Report Check-In

We stayed here for 5 nights. The first night there were, including our car, 4 overlanders, which meant we all had enough (but not much) space. In the following nights they managed to squeeze in 4 (!) more vans. There was barely room left to find your way to the bathrooms (which were, as others already mentioned, never cleaned until we asked her). When we needed to go to the mechanic to get our tires renewed, she simply told us that it wasn't allowed. She finally agreed that we could leave, but in that case we couldn't return. We decided to immediately check out. I am sure they are as friendly as everyone says, but I am afraid the money got more important.

Report Check-In

Nice place but it's really narrow to come in. No problem with the height.
But they're changing the door so in a few days it will be easier to enter !

Report Check-In

Nice place direct to the center. Paid 120 for 3 persons and a small van. Good to explore Sucre and the nightlife.

Report Check-In

We stayed 13 nights (12 nights at 100 Bol pn + 1 free night for 2 persons in small van). Perfect place to relax, explore and if as we did visit a mechanic, buy parts plus carry out repairs ourselves. Alberto, Felicidad, Carolina and Luis could not have been more kind and helpful providing information and advice regarding local services. Bathroom facilities are great, communal room spacious and nice, kitchen is adequate there was no fridge but I think plans are in place to improve the kitchen. As we were leaving the gates were being widened to make access easier for bigger rigs. Sucre is a great little city and this site is in such a good location for centro, mercado and Me Gusta language school.

OPENED : What a wonderful place with the nicest owners. The place is not sign posted but well known for overlanders and its a red door with the number 70. , A few meters off the coordinates( for us). A few blocks from downtown Sucre which was perfect. There is a kitchen, common area, bathroom also space for campers and overlanders Entrance is tight for bigger rigs.. Luis speaks english ( son ), Alberto and Felicidad are really helpful, even offered to buy us gas ( we were empty) . Only downside is no internet. 150 BS a night for 5 people. Showers are warm.

We really liked it here! So close to town (only 2 blocks from the central mercado!) and the hosts could not be more accommodating. We stayed here for almost 2 weeks and met up with lots of other overlanders during our stay. We paid 100 Bs per night to camp.

Carolina, the daughter of Feli and Alberto, asked us to supplement her email. In case you would like to contact them in advance (she speaks perfect English): [email protected] or [email protected]

Best campground in Bolivia! Nice garden near the center of Sucre. You'll feel like home. Short walk to the main plaza. Felicidad & Alberto will care for everything. Little kitchen with gas available. Little bathroom with hot shower. No WiFi yet, but they will establish it once more travellers will pass by. We stayed their only for 2 nights due to lack of time but would have prolonged. IMPORTANT for big rigs or campers: the entrance gate has a width of 2.40m!

This place is open again.

We came to Sucre and although we saw everywhere that the place had closed Arantxa had a hunch and decided to give it a go. We got there and it seemed to be closed, but then headed to Aniceto Arce 416 (just around the corner) where the owners live and they told us that they were just reopening after a year or so.

The owners told us to let people know that if they came and the place looked close, head to their house in Aniceto Arce 416 to ask and someone will most likely be there.

Report Check-In

The place is closed. Try hostel Pachamaya on Calle Arce nearby. Great place, only space for one camper. Big rigs cannot go in.

Report Check-In

This place has been reported CLOSED. (Verified by 3 overanders attempting to stay there).

A small grassy area very close to the center of Sucre. It's not signed, but it is a well-known stop for overlanders. Upon arrival you need to track down the owner, Alberto or his wife Felicidad and have them let you in. Alberto may be in his workshop on the property, knock loudly, or at their house which can be found around the corner at 416 Arcento Arce. Very friendly people and an excellent (and the only) place to camp in Sucre just a few blocks from the center. They also have a room for rent at the top of the A-frame common area. Slow cellular wifi / hot showers / water / lavernderia / elec. Nice grassy yard with a shared communal room. Easy walk to the square. Need to check in at 416 Arcento Arce around the corner. Routing Advice: we heard many people complain about the back-road from Cochabamba to Sucre (Highway 7 and Route 5) and avoided it. “Uninspiring bad roads with poor views.”

B/60 per night.
