Argentina
We were stopped after the territorial border to Tucuman driving south. The policeman opened the door immediately and said that flip-flops were not good for driving. He was gonna write us a ticket. Three thousand pesos. I said no. He asked how much and I just shook my head. When it got to a thousand, I left and said I had to make a phone call. Another policeman came a short time later and gave us our paper back. We didn't pay anything. They also wanted to see our fire extinguisher.
We don't have any photos of this place yet.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
The policemen also just wanted to see our papers, nothing more. No problems.
Report Check-InWe just passed the marked place and the "police control station" at Routa 40 at the end of the village (northwards) and no one was there, so we passed without a problem.
Report Check-InSame happened to us. We had to pay a fine of 18000 pesos for some kind of document and the fire extinguisher, but that wasn’t correct. Although my husband had signed the fine, the officer ended up destroying the fine because I said that it wasn’t correct. Afterwards he also asked a propina for the collaboration but we said that it is very expensive to withdrawal money in Argentina. He shook our hands and wished us a good trip. Please don’t pay the fines (unless you’re wrong indeed but if you entered Argentina at the border, you should have everything you need so normally you’re okay), as paying the fines will only encourage them to keep on asking for it... Just stay friendly, keep calm and you’ll be okay 😉
Report Check-InWe were stopped about 3km north of this point. The officer first said our lights did not work properly. Then he said it was the big light. It did seem like one of them did not work properly which was wierd because it worked in the morning. He first told us to come to the police office 2 hours back south. Then he started writing a ticket with an amount of 6.500 pesos! We said we did not have that and it was not correct. After some minutes he started to scratch the ticket and write ‘anulado’ on the top and give us a handshake. Then he said, but you do need to give me 1.000 peso. We said no again. Then he gave us a hug and said we could go. I offered him Dutch cookies but he said he did not like sweets. Super strange
