signs on the road but nothing here.

Report Check-In

SCAM !! The guy asked for 20 pesos for a “disinfection spray”. When we said NO and explained that we worked in Cabo he finally let us pass for free. Speaking Spanish is a plus but don't let you have it even if he shows you his little receipt paper!

Report Check-In

Guy: It’s $3 for spray.
Me: What is this?
Guy: It’s organic.
Me: What is it?
Guy: OK, $2.

I gave him 10p and drove off. He still gave me a ticket. The three cars with BCS plates behind me did not stop.

TLDR: Just keep driving with your window up.

Report Check-In

There were two men out front of the building. The local in front of me drove through without stopping so based on the below reviews, I just did the same. 🤭

Report Check-In

Drove south on motorcycle. Was just waved on, no hassle, no nothing. Just keep you're visor down and roll on.

Report Check-In

A bit odd but no big deal. I've never seen a stop like this in Mexico (I grew up here across many states). The guy offered to spray our truck with disinfectant but we said "no, gracias" and he said ok and off we went.

Report Check-In

super nice guy. spoke English. asked for 20 pesos to spray our car, we said no thank you, and he said okay have a great day and waved us through!

Report Check-In

Just passed through. We were behind several other vehicles that didn’t stop so we just followed suit- we gave the guy a wave as we slowly passed and kept the window rolled up. He didn’t attempt to stop us 🤷‍♀️

Report Check-In

This very much looks like a scam. We had around 10ish kids standing around with boxes for money collection. Two Mexican cars in front of us just went through and then an old guy came out as soon as he saw our German license plate. We tried to follow the Mexican cars as long as possible. Then the guy stepped in front of our car, we stopped, we only said necessito and drove after the Mexican cars. The kids yelled, but stayed were they were so we kept on driving and didn’t pay anything. It’s a really weird place. The traffic signs before indicate it might be legit, but then the place is so weird especially with all the kids

Report Check-In

The guy asked for $1 USD. Gave him 20 pesos after saying we didn’t want the spray. Girlfriend feeling sick earlier today and didn’t feel like arguing, but you can definitely roll on through, act like you don’t understand or have no cash. The guy is clearly trying his luck with gringos. No Mexican-plated car was stopped. I took a while to find 20 pesos and he gave up and went to talk to someone else before I paid him.

Let’s stop calling it a donation though guys… it’s clearly a scam.

Also, can we talk about how weak that spray is?? Not going to stop anything haha.

Report Check-In

Read the reviews and felt it was fake. Rolled up, asked Necessito, buddy replied Si. I look confused since I wasn’t prepared for Si. I continue to repeat no necessito no gracias. He points to the spray and activates it and I repeat no gracias and drive slowly away. No M16 or aggressive behaviour. Felt sketch for sure.

Report Check-In

We travel with 2 campers. We paid 40 peso without recipt and the second Van paid 20 peso with recipt. Wellcome to the corupt inspecteur

Report Check-In

We were asked if we had any fruit and then they asked for 20 pesos. No receipt given.

Report Check-In

"20 pesos"
Buenos Dias, what for?
"there spray"
necesario?
"..."
no necesario? no gracias. can we go?
I pointed down the road, let the clutch engage and rolled on without getting held back, took it as a go to continue. was a less than 60 sec stop, might have been a little rude from our side but he directly started with his payment and we took it as trial on how to handle such checkpoints. went good without payment, we were curious if he has friends that might check up on the paper slips he seems to hand out but no such thing happened.

Report Check-In

Asked about fruit in car - showed him our tangerine on the front console - asked for “donation” for “spray” - gave him 100 pecos. Waved us through

Report Check-In

Went there from North to South and denied to pay .. So thex let me trough without the cleaning!

Report Check-In

Drove through at 6ish, south bound. I was the only white tourist in the lineup, and the guy super obviously picked my truck out of lineup of like ~8 cars, and asked only me to pay the fee. It was only a dollar, so I didn't want to waste time arguing.

There were some people with red spray bottles before the inspection station, I think they were trying to look official before they would bait n switch into trying to sell you some sort of service. I just drove past them.

Report Check-In

Drove to the north about 1 PM on a Thursday. There was a man in the middle of the road, but it seems, that they only control from north to south. we could go through without a stop.

Report Check-In

This is the 2nd time I have gone through here and each time I only had a credit card and they just let me go through.

Report Check-In

Headed north. Super fast stop. Asked us where we came from and where we are going. No fee. No inspection.

Report Check-In

Cruised through this afternoon. Guy asked if I had fruit, I didn't. Asked for the spray for a donation. I gave him a few bucks for it just incase even though I don't think I needed it. Better safe than sorry.

Report Check-In

no Chance, you have to pay 20 Pesos you got an rezept and thats it

Report Check-In

We tried the "No necesito" trick and it seemed to work. The guy laughed, asked where we were coming from and going to. Asked if we had plants or vegetables and sent us on our way. No spray and they didn't ask us to pay.

Report Check-In

Drove thru on jan 1st (southbound in the night and we didn't bother stopping. did see someone inside building.) and jan 3rd (for quick gas return trip) waved through.

I have worked in invasive species sector in canada and spraying cars with pesticide is definitely not a safe method of treatment. I don't know what they are spraying, but I would not allow anyone to spray my vehicle with pesticides. Super dangerous depending on what they are using.

Report Check-In

guys at the inspection just let us through. we did not even have to stop.

Report Check-In

Paid a $20 peso donation to get the underneath of the van sprayed for insect control when coming into Baja California Sur.

Report Check-In

We paid on the way down (can’t remember how much) - on the way back (north) they just waved us through

Report Check-In

Paid 20 pesos going southbound. Did not have to pay going northbound.

Report Check-In

Temp checked both of us, sprayed the van, 20 pesos. Quick

Report Check-In

I can’t believe people have gotten away without paying! When the guy asked me for money and I told him I didn’t want it (disinsectization) the guy next to him with the M-16 implied that it was necessario

Report Check-In

We did not get stop.
Sanitary Inspection that is officially announced 300m ahead.

Report Check-In

Just pay the 20 pesos and be on your way. Don’t forget your receipt.

Report Check-In

They gave us an official looking receipt for 20 pesos. There are a couple of signs beforehand indicating Agriculture Inspection. Seems legit.

Report Check-In

There was an official looking guy asking for 20 pesos and handing us a receipt without asking for it instantly. Looks official, but I agree that it doesn't make much sense. Picture attached.

Report Check-In

Still Mex 20 for desinsectizacion - no checking in the car. Make sure to ask for a Recibo (receip).

Report Check-In

2 guys ask few questions take 20 pesos and let us go. without check

Report Check-In

20 pesos (obligatorios) para la desinfección del vehículo al cruzar de Baja Norte a Baja Sur.

Report Check-In

This disinfection station is fake. They have taken over a former real station. The guy who will ask for money is wearing what appears to be an official jacket, but if you look closer the badge says "Coleville Indian Band"
He says even Mexicans have to pay, not true. I refused to pay and he eventually gave in. He didn't even talk to the people in the car behind us, Mexican.
Just refuse to pay or even just drive through without stopping.
There is another one of these on the exit road from La Paz ferry terminal, after the military inspection. A guy standing on theside of the road with a small backpack sprayer wanting to spray your tires for 30 pesos. The road is wide enough to just drive round him.

Report Check-In

Suggested donation, which tourists only seem to pay. Got an official receipt for 10pasos payment tho

Report Check-In

Kind of a weird spot. Seemed similar to the toll checkpoints we found up north where no one was really working but young girls were standing there asking for money, some guy who didn't seem very official (standing next to the girls) told us to stop but with my pretty decent understanding of Spanish, I still have no idea what he was trying to tell me. He was asking for money i think but wouldn't tell me how much (or maybe he did but he had a weird and thick accent I couldn't understand) Luckily we only had US dollars in our wallets so we showed him and asked if we could give him those, he said no so we said we didn't have pesos and he sent us on our way. There were no signs except to say that we're passing the 28th parallel. We're still not sure if that guy was official or not or if it's a mandatory payment that he just gave us a pass cause we looked confused. I'm giving this 2 stars just cause of how weird it was and how Confused I still am.

Report Check-In

we were stopped and were asked for my pesos 20. we pretended to only have my pesos 9 in our pockets, which was accepted by the guard. and he gave us a receipt (see photos for a reference that you can maybe use). when we crossed again we just showed the receipt and were good to pass.

Report Check-In

As stated below - Agricultural Check between BC and BCS. Requested we pay MXN20 for spray. Simple hose in the road you drive over. Quick and easy.

Report Check-In

In a sprinter can with a ford econoline following us, they asked if we wanted to be sprayed, we said “no necesitamos” and kept driving.

Report Check-In

In our Sprinter van - drove right through. Literally just kept rolling through after we saw them let the locals through without stopping. The attendant signaled to us to stop, but we didn’t. They also let the locals behind us through without hesitation. Seems specific to tourists. Who knows.. :D UPDATE: since have driven through 3 times with no attendant in sight.

Report Check-In

Asked if we had vegetables. We had limes, it was OK. Asked 20 pesos for a steam spray (of water ?😂). Took us 2 minutes.

Report Check-In

they ask me to pay to spray my pick up truck. I just said no and lied. I said that I was there for the last 3 days and they already did it 3 days ago but I lost the receipt. It works and they let me pass. I was really there for the past 3 days and pass this place many times with locals and they didn't even look at us. They sprayed only tourist cars and tried to have as more money as they can. Even the locals told me that it was just water spray.....scam..?

Report Check-In

We had no trouble here, he asked for the payment, not sure what he asked for - but after reading here we gave him 20 P.
meeting up with fellow campers, they paid 40 P and 25 P. Same day, just show you the difference.

Report Check-In

We only had a 50 peso bill but he gave us back correct change of 30 pesos

Report Check-In

As others have said, he will try to charge more, make sure you have exactly 20 pesos to give him, he asked for $2 or 40 pesos first I handed 20 pesos and he said it was ok. We had some fruits but he said it was fine.

Report Check-In

Didn't check our car. Originally asked for 2 dollars but we questioned this and he said 20 pesos. Gave us a receipt

Report Check-In

Made us pay 30 MX since he didn't have change which I'm sure wasn't true. Bring exact change to make sure he doesn't put some in his pockets ;)

Report Check-In

We paid 20 pesos. The guy didn't check our car!

Report Check-In

Passed through at 4:30pm (Baja California Sur time), and all vehicles in both directions were being waved through with no stops. Not sure if this was due to the time of day, the fact that it was a weekend, or we were just lucky.

Report Check-In

They asked if we had fruits/vegetables, and we said yes and named the groceries we had. Then he asked if we had a lot of them. We said maybe 3-4 of each, and he said that was no problem. Paid $20 Mex and then we were off on our way.

Report Check-In

Pay 20 pesos. The man didn't check the van. But then tried to charge us double the price, then didn't give us enough change back. Be wary.

Report Check-In
