Something not right?

Description

Easily accessed off Highway 8 and down a dirt road. Road is in good condition so no need for 4WD or high clearance. This is a very private spot and we only saw two other campers closer to the highway. We decided to only stay one night after we saw the sign that read "illegal immigration and drug smuggling are common in this area." No amenities, no cell service, but this spot did have a fire ring.

Happy Camper right here! Pulled in about 9:30 and not a soul around.

Saw the signs for smuggling and drug trafficking as well.

Road is well maintained and there hasn’t been anyone here for a bit of time. Several primitive rock fire rings and flat! All the years of driving by here to stay @ dumpy hotels nearby. So happy for this site!

We drove up the main road the day after a major rainfall. The road was slick in spots - drove cautiously while towing our 19’ trailer. If the conditions were dry, 2wd would be adequate. Several miles in we reached a sign warning us of difficult road conditions ahead. We turned right to find several great, open spots to camp. Very peaceful and quite among the giant saguaros.

The site listed was occupied so I stayed at another site a few hundred feet further down this side road. Be warned; the side road abruptly becomes impassable at a wash shortly after this and cannot be traversed by any vehicle. However, the sites before this are great. If you’re looking for solitude and silence in the Sonoran Desert, this is a wonderful area. The main road is generally in good condition and the sites get more secluded as you get further from the highway. Stayed two nights and the area appears to be well monitored by BLM/Border Patrol. Strong Verizon signal.

Make a right before the sign indicating rough road and there are a ton of secluded campsites, fire rings, and paths to hike. Beautiful and quiet. Pretty good cell service. Watch out for sticky cactus, my pup got roughed up by them closer to the mountain.

Worth the drive to get far in the back. Road isn’t bad. So secluded and quiet. I’m in a Sprinter but my friend in a 2WD Promaster made it just fine.

2 Bars Verizon 5G

Cute little desert fox ran through the campsite at night.

This spot is spectacular! One of our favs for sure. You are surrounded by saguaros, chollas, and mountains! There are plenty of spots along this road, but we drove pretty far to get some privacy and it was well worth it! Great Verizon reception. Road is well maintained and 2WD friendly.
