The door was locked at the Migración Office at the border. No body there. We waited for 15 minutes, then a guy opened the door.
Aduana is at another location down the road. Passing was easy. Next stop is for buying tickets for park entrance. That will cost you 150 bolivianos per person!! You can change usd to bol at the snackbar. 6 bol per usd. The roads to Uyuni are in terrible condition. There are no directions, you need an off-road map to find you way. Be sure to have enough fuel with you to cover San Pedro to Uyuni on bad dirt roads.

Exiting Bolivia- There is only one aduana stop. Go inside with two copies of Bolivian TIP and passport. Get both stamped, leave one. They open gate, drive on.

Report Check-In

Easy process. Just give your tip back and do the online form for migration. There is wifi to do it. We were here at 11:50, alone. Took us 5 min

Report Check-In

Arrived around 10.15 and were the only ones there. Paperwork took quite long. They even verified the car chassis number on the frame. Further they didn’t inspect the vehicle much. All in all took about 1 hour. Very kind staff that even spoke a little English. Even when sunny it’s freezing cold, bring warm clothes.

Report Check-In

done in 5 minutes of paperwork. Open WiFi (slow).

Report Check-In

Pretty simple process. Getting the TIP and filling out the declarations took maybe half an hour. The aduana officials here were very nice. There are only two guys working here so if there are other people the process will take awhile.

Report Check-In

They where using QR's system to fulfill the customs forms. 2 guys working there. Really helpful. Really slow because they no have enough staff. They only check chassis number, they didn't look in my luggage (motorcycle). Super windy place. Next to the building there's a Kiosko for snacks or water. In front of this building you must buy the park entrance.

Report Check-In

Easy going bolivia aduana. we left Bolivia after three days on the laguna route.
Very friendly aduana personal. took us only about 10 min.
Note. This is only the Aduana (Vehicles)

Report Check-In

We arrived at 12:00 the guy are eating, takes an hour to appear, than stayed making jokes and speaking with other offices in front os us, more 30 minutes, just like nobody are waiting, than makes or papers in 10 minutes and let us in... We smile and pass...

Report Check-In

From Chile to Bolivia. Here you fill in a declaration form and give your carpapers to get your TIP. We have a campertruck (owner my husband) and a motorbike (owner me). Took some time to control the chassisnumbers and do all the paperwork on the computer.
Short look inside the truck, no questions about food etc..., very friendly and easy. Took half an hour.

Report Check-In

Friendly aduana control! Easy peasy. SO windy!

Report Check-In

Leaving Bolivia: Had the TIP cancelled and each passenger had to fill out a customs declaration. Quick and easy.

Report Check-In

Enter Bolivia. No check in the vehicle, they didn’t even ask for vegetables and fruit but beware for bribes! He told us we needed a copy of our poder and if we don’t have one he would keep the original or we had to go back to Chile to make copies. It was ridiculous as he had a copy machine + scanner on his desk. We discussed a lot and then I saw that he made a mistake on the TIP!! Check the date!! After I asked him about the incorrect information, he made a new TIP with the correct date, scanned our Poder without any further discussion and let us go...

Report Check-In

!! CHILE TO BOLIVIA WITH TWO VEHICLES !! We travel with a truck with inside a motorbike (both registered on my husband's name). We already went to Bolivians immigration and our passports were stamp in. However we had to go back to Chile because at the Customs (Aduana) they didn't let us enter the country: the nice official said that the system only allowed to put one vehicle per person. To be able to enter in Bolivia we should go to a notary to make a declaration from my husband that I can drive one of his vehicle (Poder Notarial) and get from the Bolivians consulate in Chile a form for driver of private car that are not the owner (Formulario para conductors de vehiculos particulares que no sean propietarios de los mismos e ingresan a territorio nacional).
The official said that if we had a race motorbike without registration and chassis number it would be ok.

Going from Bolivia to Chile?

1 - Give back TIP here, fill out aduana form.
2 - Drive 5km to the frontera where you get your Bolivia exit stamp in your passport.
3 - Drive 5 more kilometres to enter your vehicle and yourself to Chile

Report Check-In

We handed in tip at Hito Cajón pin at Laguna Blanca... don’t panic... you don’t need to return to the geysers or mines... at least not today.

Report Check-In

This point is extra - the Aduana is the prior point just a few hundred feet back - I don't know why there are 2 points for Aduana in almost exactly the same location. But yes this is open and the Aduana 84km back is closed. Easy friendly quick to hand in TIP.

Report Check-In

This is where you hand in your TIP. They will stamp it and keep it. There should not be 2 points here for Aduana so close together, there is only this one. (Migración is further down to the border).

Report Check-In

crossing from Bolivia to Chile. Uncomplicated cancellation of the Tip. We only had to fill the Jerry cans in our tank.

Report Check-In

The bolivian aduana is not anymore 84 kms before the border. It is here now.

Report Check-In

bolivian aduana: give back your tip here.
fast and easy

Report Check-In

Open when we crossed, no issues cancelling the TIP. We took a photo of it just in case. Very friendly man working here that speaks good English. He informed us he’s on a 2 week shift and alternates with another agent.

Report Check-In

Here You can give back Your TIP. Easy, fast and kind.

Report Check-In

It was open. First They said they could give me only 30 days but when they learned ı came by bicycle they gived me 60 days enterence and officer said me in every big city I can take another 30 days at imgration office

Report Check-In

We came through on our way out of Bolivia at 4:10pm and it was open. The internet was down so he couldn’t actually cancel them on the spot but he took our forms and he said he would cancel them tomorrow. He spoke English and was very friendly. The one by the geysers was closed when we came through early afternoon. Very opposite of what we read on iOverlander.

Report Check-In

It was closed when we drove by in the afternoon. Luckily we had done TIP cancellation at the mines.

Report Check-In

This place was closed when we passed.
We cancelled our Bolivian TIP near the geysers, further to the north.

Report Check-In

This office is closed and you can not cancel your TIP here or at the border. As mentioned before, you need to go back to Geysir and do it somewhere there. We didn't want to drive the 84km of horrendous washboard again so we left without cancelling the TIP. The immigration officer was neither helpful, nor friendly. We will cancel our TIP either in Ollagüe or at the Bolivian/Argentinian border. 300km of tarmac is still better than those 84km going back to Geysir.

MAKE SURE YOU CANCEL YOUR TIP IN GEYSIR BEFORE HEADING TO THE BORDER.

Report Check-In

This office was not open. We were told to go back to Geyser location. We didn't want to so at Immigration we asked the officer about leaving TIP there and he said first take a picture and we did of him and TIP and he added it to a small pile if other ones to give to the next Aduana agent that passed through.

Report Check-In

Place was open. Very quick and easy crossing. We did all the papers for our car here. Coming from Chile.

Report Check-In

was closed today (Saturday) open Easter Sunday tomorrow! chap in an immigration hat and no uniform appeared from the park office and said he'd stamp our passports and take our tip as the immigration office 5km on would be closed for lunch. as he had a stamp we did so. short of driving all the way back to the geysers we gave him our tip to hand in tomorrow. he asked for a 'reward' for this but we ignored the request.

Report Check-In

This aduana was open when we passed. We had gone to the one at the Geysirs before, but they sent us here. Seems like the two places are alternating.
Process was very easy, they took TIP, checked the Vin number and passport and waived us through.

Report Check-In

Not closed. This was the Custom office designated to leave the Bolivia TIP on our way to Chile through the Lagunas Route.

Report Check-In

February 2018: This place was closed, but this can change. Check the other points for more information.

Report Check-In

Stopped here 29/11/17 and handed my tempory import papers in on the way out of Bolivia. Friendly official.

Report Check-In

Everyone told us that the aduana at the border was open as we passed through from the north so we did NOT stop at this aduana. We got to the southern exit of the park and they told us the aduana post was not open, that they "left three days ago". No way I was going back so I just left my TIP paper with Migracion and he said he'll see what can be done (probably just throw it away).

Report Check-In

Coming from Chile, this office does all the paperwork necessary to bring our motor home into Bolivia (or exit Bolivia). At this time of the year, it's open only from Saturday to Monday. For all other days, the import/export of a car needs to be done at the aduana close to Laguna Colorada.

Report Check-In

The immigration office is open on October 2017. Friendly people. They gave me 60 days even if i told them 30 would be enough. They just checked my papers, the numbers of the car and a very quick check about what i was carrying. It's also written on the door of the first office that they are closed between 12:30 and 14:30. Not sure if it's correct as they helped during this time, same for the trucks crossing too.

Going to Bolivia is free for me, but get some cash with you as you are going into a national park in the same time. Price is 150 bolivianos for foreigners.

Report Check-In

Official stated that this Aduana location is now open every day from 0800-2000. 5 minute process to turn in our TIP.

Report Check-In

Closed 23. and 24. Sptember

Report Check-In

Was closed and we should drive back 84 km. Went on to the immigration and told them we can't because we're short of diesel.
He stamped our passports and we left, paid nothing and as we do not plan to come back we don't care about the Aduana.

Report Check-In

We had stopped by the Geyser aduana the day before arriving here because we didn't want to have to drive back and they weren't happy about that. It was a Sunday and was open so I would think that it is more reliably open now. If you do stop at the geyser aduana get a not from them there if you plan on leaving the next day.

Report Check-In

Open as of July 2017: They rechecked our paperwork from the mine/geyser aduana. Our docs were stamped on the previous day and they were a bit upset about that but in the end they allowed us to move on to Chile.

Report Check-In

Here we got our exit stamps for Bolivia. We handed in our car paperwork (TIP) at the Aduana near the geysers.

Report Check-In

CLOSED also when we were here and nobody knows when it is open. Guys at the refugio, park entrance and at migracion at the border told us to go back 80km to the aduana at Apacheta by the geysers. We persisted at the border and told them we didn't have enough fuel to go back and with much resistance the migracion guys promised us they would send your TIP to Apacheta aduana with the next truck. If that ever happened we don't know...

Report Check-In

White Hanger before you reach the Park office (when coming from Chile). Grumpy aduana but I would be too working off my phone torch light! We got 60 days visa (Brits) for the car with a bit of negotiation. He wanted to give us only 30 days even though immigration had given us 60 days. Straight forward enough.

Report Check-In

we don't have to drive to this point, because the aduana has now (7.11.2016) a container bureau directly behind the ticket check of the park for the direction to Chile. Don't know if it also ok for opposite direction but I think so...

Report Check-In

CLOSED when we were there! Check your vehicle out at the "mountain" aduana (-22.44087,-67.80596) and INSIST that they do it there, even if they tell you that the aduana at Laguna Verde is opened (because they told us that and it was closed with a sign to drive back the 83 km - however, we explained and handed in our TIP at the migration)!!!!!!!!

Report Check-In

Nobody for the aduana today. The guy was gone to the other aduana near the gyser. Nice building otherwise. You can find water outside from a huge tank (near the Refugio).

Report Check-In

Super friendly guy, took our TIP and waved us on. If he is not here (although I don't know where he would go... There ain't nothing out here) we would have just slid it under the door. You don't need any proof of cancellation of your TIP for Chile.

Report Check-In

It looks like the customs document you get from the Aduana Nacional de Bolivia depends on where you enter the country — and there are subtle differences that you should be aware of:
- In Yacuiba (May 2016) entering from Argentina, we received a document titled "Acuerdo Boliviano-Argentino" that was divided into sections titled "Datos *Personales*", "Datos del Vehiculo", etc. It was valid for 6 months.
- In Puerto Quijarro (July 2016) entering from Brazil, we received a document titled "Ingreso y Salida de Vehiculos Turisticos" that was divided into sections titled "Datos del *Conductor* (=driver)", "Datos del Vehiculo", etc. It was valid for 1 month only.
In Santa Cruz the police hassled us for infringing the law because I was listed as the Conductor (see second case, above) while my partner was driving. If they issue the second type of document to you and you are several people driving the car, you may want to insist they list the additional drivers on that form before you sign it.

Also the police hassled us for not carrying an "Orden de Traslado", a specific permit issued by local police stations that authorizes a given foreign vehicle to drive from A to B. (N.B. This document is not a phantom, I've see Brazilian drivers carrying it!). We got away by claiming that the customs officer (aduanero) explicitly stated we were free to travel around the country and didn't need any other documents other than what he issued us with — and by standing our grounds for up to 20 minutes. Don't pay tips, bribes or fines if hassled. Be polite and show that you have infinite time to ride this one out. Never admit any law infringement unless they point you to the relevant paragraph and you understand that paragraph and you actually did do something wrong.

Report Check-In

It is a matter of luck. As we were told at the border crossing to do the car papers at the aduana near gysir field to the north, we passed through here and there was, nobody around. We decided to camp here as there is no other good spot around and eventually somebody showed up and opened the office. We were lucky and he did all our papers here. Nice and easy handling, no problems. Told us that we are not allowed to bring food into the country, but didnt take anything in the end (we didnt have too much).

Report Check-In

It s obviously a matter of luck here. There were nobody at the aduana and we were told to drive back 70 km to the other aduana. We decided instead to try at the immagration post at the border 7 km after the park end. An awful agent told us he had nothing he could do for us, that he did'nt care about our situation and that we had to leave. My girlfriend went back crying and all of a sudden he could do something for us!
Be aware that you can't trust information from the Bolivians.

Report Check-In

As of December 2015 vehicles don't have to be checked out at the mine office further north anymore. The vehicle check out can be done near the national park ticket control (puesto de control)
