Description

If you are looking for a free place in the center of Puerto Viejo, looks like a good spot.
At the beach. Our water tank we could fill at the police station, maybe they have toilets too.
The place still is good for camping, but there’s no police station anymore. The building was put down. No services at all. Restaurants nearby.

Nice and safe place to campout. Little uneven but is so convenient around town that it's worth beautiful. The other place identified next door was bust with locals cars parked so used this spot
Enjoy tranquil Puerto viejo

Exacto para dormir en tu coche y disfrutar del lugar mientras vez el mar 😉🤙🏾

Spent 4 or 5 nights here, mostly because salsa brava was pumping the whole time. It was fine and completely safe, police are chill and it's fine to take water. I wouldnt want to be here on a Friday night though. But was perfect for free.

This place was very calm during the day and seems safe enough with the police across the street, but completely changed after dark, even though it was a Wednesday.
The bar a few meters from this location had really loud music from 10pm to 3am.
Not only that but this meant drunk people sitting in our bumper, putting drinks on top of our rear storage box, smashing beer bottles on the street, snorting cocaine right outside our window...
We didn’t feel unsafe though but not the best place to be parked if you want to rest.
Several cars parked around us which meant we couldn’t move anywhere so not much sleep had unfortunately.
Would not recommend.

Stayed here for a night. Loud music from the near by restaurant but cars left pretty early next to our parking even though it was Sunday. Police flashing light from the police parking was a bit disturbing for sometime but we can’t expect to be perfect when it’s for free;-)

Walking distance to the center, we enjoyed eating outside. Forgot to lock the RV for more than 3 hrs(got lucky, no one tried to come in). Filled up our water tank next to the police station after asking the permission to a grumpy police(May be it was siesta time)

Recommend!

Nice spot for the night! We were here during Semana Santa and it was insanely crowded and busy EVERYWHERE. The other spots in town were charging $20 per car to camp, so we ended up here. Cops were friendly but we couldn’t use their facilities because of all the people around. Felt very safe with them so close!

Nice place un front of police station (the police station is in a bus) but Too much noise. The bar has the músic very very loud. It was on a rainy wednesdy, I cant imagine this place on weekend.

Report Check-In

I have been there and the police station bus was still there. I spoke to the policeman and he said with a big smile that there was no problem in camping on the beach right in front of them. They also have bathrooms and a sink with drinkable water.

Police guarded location, very friendly, lot of pubs and restaurants, not that quiet but very safe and central. big rigs ok. Iveco 90-16

Report Check-In

Lugar tranquilo e iluminado, seguro porque este frente a la estación de policia, al lado de la playa. Restaurante y cafetería cerca.

Report Check-In

There is a police presence again, so I asked them if it would be alright to stay. They were very welcoming and offered access to their water spout! They watch my rig when I am gone. I am parked on the beach, across the street... not in the actual property of the police.
No problems, but weekends are busy and noisy. Everyone has been very friendly and inviting.

good place to stay...
police station not here anymore!

Report Check-In

One can still camp there, but the police station does not exist anymore.

Report Check-In

The police is not there anymore! But we camped anyway... 3 nights it was ok. Saturday the bar is open and very noisy, awful DJ! Police passed every hour, said it was quiet safe but do not leave things unattended.

Very good camping spot. Stayed there with two other campers. On Saturdays a bit noisy. Super close to everything in the city.

Great place to setup a tent , right in front of the police station. super secure and you can charge your electronics at the office. no wifi or bathrooms but right on the beach!!
plenty of light so you can even setup at night like I did. no ants from what I saw and under cover of trees.ground is level so easy to sleep on.
