National forest land overlooking the Badlands park. Campsites on the rim overlooking the geological formations below.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Here on a Saturday evening in early June. Lots of people but no designated spots so folks can fit in fairly tightly. Not impossibly stunning, but a front row view of folded cracked earth, coyotes, and bison available to all 😁. One thing to note is that due to the topography and the number of guests I found it virtually impossible to find a private place to pee on either the Badland or grassland sides. So perhaps set up your bladder schedule so that you'll only need to go after dark 😆.
Report Check-InGreat spot. Windy. Bugs aren’t too bad during the day, just flies. Then the mosquitos come out around dusk. Awesome views during storms, rainbows, lightning, golden light. *chefs kiss*
Report Check-InThis is NOT an established campground. It is Dispersed Camping - “Wild”
Report Check-InCome early for the best chance of a great view. Come late and watch for cattle sleeping. Sweet, quiet, clean. Lightning show in the distance was awesome.
Report Check-InDefinitely other people here if you want to be along the wall edge, but more spaced out than a campground. Gorgeous views. The wind is fierce, be prepared for that if you are using a tent! Gas stations are only a few miles down the road if you need a last pit stop before calling it a night.
There is no signage, but if it’s in season you’ll probably see RVs in the distance
Awesome way to end the day! Primitive camp, muddy road everything you’d hope for… not many level areas.
Report Check-InAs mentioned lots and lots of spots along the "wall". We got 2 bars TMobile 5G, others says they had 4 bars Verizon. Wasn't too windy until morning when we were here. Great spot.
Report Check-InAs others described - wide open spaces, lots of other campers, but not "crowded." beautiful place for an overnight or possibly two.
Report Check-In Beautiful place to camp. Road is a
little rough, but definitely worth it. Got a great spot right along the ridge.
Breathtaking view for a Floridian. almost afraid to get out of the car. haven't been this high since the 60's drug era lol. Definitely don't miss this sight. A bit windy for sure.
Report Check-InAmazing views with plenty of spa e for everyone. Cool to see the diversity of small cars with tents to class A's. Very quiet and peaceful but also very windy!
Report Check-InEast to get to. I just drove through the grass to an overlook. A little windy, I guess it could get worse. A beautiful view. Very quiet.
Report Check-InLarge open space, as described. Many campers. No winds today, fortunately. Easy access. Wow, Verizon even 4/5 down/up. AT&T 21/0 down/up.
Report Check-InAbsolutely awesome! Lots of others, but plenty of space. Beautiful views, easy access, but no amenities so be prepared for self-sufficiency.
Report Check-Inlovely view! There were were over 60 vehicles when there when we camped and there was still room for more. All the spots marked on I overlander in this area are one long loop road. you can enter from either end and drive until you find a nice spot. No fees 🙂 I did see one cop patrolling. Very little trash. Thanks everyone keep packing it out!
Report Check-InThe views are awesome. But y'all. The wind is insane here. Still worth staying here for the view and proximity to the Badlands NP entrance.
Report Check-InThis place is perfect! The bridge is more of a steer cattle over gate and t’s a teal color. This was super helpful info when arriving in the dark
Report Check-InGreat place! A bit windy during the day so be prepared for that but the views are stunning. Lost of spots along the wall so if you can’t find one keep driving
Report Check-InBeautiful overlook and very close to the Badlands National Park entrance. However, this was the busiest dispersed camping area that I’ve been to. Everyone was very nice and courteous. I counted 44 RVs while we were here just from one vantage point. It had a nice trailer park vibe going on. Incredible views though! Also be mindful of driving only on open roads and when the fire weather is extreme, you shouldn’t be lighting a campfire. So far I’ve seen at least one fire going while we were here.
Report Check-InBeautiful location. Lots campers, but well spread out. Simply continued along the wall until we found a nice quiet space.
Report Check-InAwesome view, lots of parking available, gets pretty windy sometimes but worth it.
