We have just stopped here to enquire about camping. The lodge is empty nit a soul about and the fee is $30pppn NON NEGOTIABLE we are moving on. Beautiful spot such a pity. Ces’t la Vie

Report Check-In

This is a nice campsite with flat ground. You can get electricity from the tent but it is totally overpriced,They now want $75 per person per night for almost no infrastructure and that's impossible and that's usury, that's all you can say about it

Report Check-In

Camping fee is 30 USD / 3000 KSh now. Meals are available on pre order (dinner at 3000 KSh pP and Breakfast at 1500 KSh pP). Well maintained and very child friendly.

Report Check-In

Price is in dollars now. 25 USD ppn so we didn't stay. If you're East Africa resident it's cheaper to camp inside Mara Triangle even with Park fees included. No resident price at this campsite. Probably worth it if you're a foreigner tourist though.

Great campsite, little shade but nice flat grass patch… Best facilities we have experienced to date with very friendly staff… Situated near the gate for the Mara it makes it the perfect stop for when visiting the park… Hot showers, bar , restaurant and staff can arrange you power from one of the near by tents…. Highly recommended

Report Check-In

Nice place, free filtered drinking water on tap, free coffee, showers toilets nice, great view from sitting area. 25$ pppn.

Beautiful camp just outside of Masai Mara. The owners are super friendly and the camp is very well maintained. Zebras are grazing in the camp.
Very nice showers/toilets, they really care about campers/overlanders as well. We payed 2000 ksh which was totally worth it, they even provide shampoo and soap in the hot shower.
From Mara West you can drive to the Masiara Gate and get a transit permit for free to Talek Gate, we saw a lot of wildlife, it was great.

Couldn’t agree more with all the reviews below. Amazing staff ready to help with whatever question you have and the sunset view is just breathtaking. Three course dinner 2500ksh, fair for the quality and location. We much enjoyed the three nights we stayed.

Report Check-In

Very nice place. Well maintained. Stunning view from sunrise spot. Hot shower only limited hours so make sure you know this timeframe otherwise you get a cold shower. Expensive but if you stay more days you can negotiate a discount.

Spent 2 nights camping here. A great place with an amazing sunrise view over the mara from where we saw elephants, Buffalo, hyena and even lions on a kill. Great staff and very good food although quite pricey.

Actually, everything has already been said. The team is very friendly and helpful. Lodge & Camp are run by an American family. The owners also run a clinic for Maasai women in the vicinity. Everything very personable. Stayed 7 days.

Beautiful setting, nice ablutions, hot showers, didn’t use the WiFi - Easy drive to the MM Park gates. Very friendly owners & staff. Giraffe & Zebra in the camp. Loved it, went back a second time to see the migration.

Report Check-In

The place to stay when planning to visit the Masai Mara. Overlanders welcome, excellent bathrooms with hot showers, I think they put the boiler on from 17:00 but ask if it’s cold. Staff amazing. 100% rating

Report Check-In

Pleasant camping between the safari tents and small banda’s. Very clean flushing toilets and spacious hot showers. Grassy spot with little shade. Enough places to relax in the shade around the restaurant area or under the trees at the rim, overlooking the Mara. Coffee or tea available for all visitors. Helpful staff. View over the Mara Triangle at sunrise is beautiful. You share the camp with Antilopes, zebra’s and giraffes. Easy starting point for day trip into the park if you do not want to camp there (10 minute drive to the gate) KES 2.000 per person

Place is good, but 25usd is indeed very expensive. We negotiated to 15usd, but wasn't easy. Ask to lighten the donkey, otherwise you will have a cold shower. Only one big tree, so you must be lucky. Zebras in the campsite and giraffes very close. Beautiful views over Mara plains. If you are up for a bumpy road, you can drive through Mara North Conservancy (public road) and see lots of wildlife for free.

Report Check-In

lovely place. nice staff. 2000pp after negotiation (started at usd25). kids free. one of the nicest campsites we have been to. bargain.

Report Check-In

Expensive but good showers with hot water and flat ground to pitch tent. Managed to negotiate to $20 pppn. Not allowed to make a fire but they gave us a traditional small fire pit to make dinner which was fine. Water ok to drink. Great view of Masai Mara NP

Report Check-In

It’s a nice campsite but we think it’s not worth $25pp. So we started negotiating, we said $15pp would be OK but for some reason we ended up paying $10pp (score!). For this price it’s a good place! From the campsite you don’t have the view, but it’s a nice grassy area with a big tree for shade.

Report Check-In

A truly spectacular place to camp with great views overlooking the Mara. The facilities are some of the best we have seen in Kenya and the staff is very helpful and kind!

We were given a lovely place to park under a beautiful tree and enjoyed a tasty three course meal in their restaurant.

The bathrooms are very clean and equipped with hot showers.

Overall Mara West had a very homey feel to it, very unlike most campsites we have stayed at. If you are in the area I highly sugguest staying here. They also provide game drives for those who want to give your car a rest and explore the spectacular Masia Mara National Park.

There is also great free wifi in the dining area.

Updated prices:
Camping: $25 per person
Three course meal: $30 per person

Lovely spot. Expensive for what you get, but I suppose that’s what you expect for the Maasai Mara! Camping on flat grass area in the grounds of the lodge, with use of the very good ablutions. Can also use the bar and restaurant, but there are no other facilities set up for campers. Unfenced so we had hyenas, giraffe and zebra pass through camp.

On arrival we were told the price is now US$25pppn, but we negotiated down to $20. We ended up returning for a second night (and a third), so managed to negotiate a further ‘loyalty’ discount and paid $15pppn.

We ate a three course dinner in the restaurant one evening, which was OK. $15 per person.

10-15 minutes drive to the Oloololo Gate, but outside the park so entry fees do not apply.

Expensive but relaxing after a full day in the park. I paid 50 usd for camping, 3 course dinner and breakfast. Good ablutions and free and fast internet

Report Check-In

Really nice campsite with excellent ablutions, park on large grassy area near restaurant, friendly owners and staff, lots of hot water, fantastic view point over the Mara, originally very expensive but negotiated $15 pppn. Good access down into Maasi Mara, about 10 min to gate.
