standard highway overlook, nice view of Chico city lights at night. (dirt road a little south of the pullout has better view of city but needs 4wd and no big rigs) Some noise from highway, but mostly flat and only 10 minutes outside of the city. hiking trail leads down into upper bidwell park

Report Check-InA good sized dirt turn-out large enough for a couple of big rigs. Highway adjacent, 55mph traffic is light nights/mornings.
There are several turnouts like this along the highway, and some short ‘roads’ for high clearance/4x4 type vehicles too. Some are paved, but this seemed the largest and had the overlook view others lacked.
Picked up cans/bottles, prob a ‘lookout point’ hangout.
Report Check-InQuiet place to kill a Friday night before getting a suspension lift installed at PriusOffroad in Chico this morning. It’s a dirt patch on the side of a 55mph highway with light traffic during the late/early hours.
Report Check-InAddendum to my previous post: spectacular place to watch the the sunset, but I think it seems to take on a decidedly less wholesome atmosphere after dark. Probably just kids from Chico going up there to smoke weed or something, but I decided to leave after a few cars pulled in around 1 AM with music blaring. Just a heads up, I wouldn’t say it’s unsafe, just a little heavy in the late night traffic department for my taste.
Report Check-InNice place, seems to be plenty of room for big rigs and trailers if you wanted. Beautiful view over Chico and out across the Central Valley. 32 is a bit busy at the moment, but it is 11 am on a weekday, so I’m sure it’s more quiet on nights and weekends. No facilities, obviously, but I do get 4 full bars of AT&T LTE.
