Chile
Be careful - there are two possibilities to enter the park. Conaf office is the first one(one 4 hours trek without glacier view for 9000ARS) and 300m behind their office there is another one - private company - trails with the view and by the river for 5000ARS. Also with toilets and water. You can spend a night at both parking lots.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
The 53km road is awful! And I mean it.. That road was made for the very expensive touring chilean operators ( laguna San Rafael) in Puerto tranquilo a few years ago … and these nice rich kiddies didn’t contribute absolutely nothing in years … to maintain that road! Just that !! And as usual in Chile. For campers, motorhomes, it’s a very long way just to see a glacier. Many more worthy in the southern tip! You have to be glacier hungry to kill yourself on that screwed path, not a road !
