Something not right?

Description

Free camping. There are about 10 spots available, 5 directly next to the Arkansas river and others on the other side of the road. Place is open from April 1st till the 15th of October as far as we understood. You are allowed to stay up to 14 days.

Some sites have a place to sit with a roof, very quiet at night. 1 person is living here in his camper, sort of controlling the area.

Pit toilets currently out of order due to flooding issues recently.

All tarmac road to get here.

Good Internet reception on our phone (USMobile).

Free campground right on river. Lots of trees. Nice for an overnight. No electricity.

Report Check-In

Free camping. First come first serve. No reservations. Along the Arkansas river. About 10-15 spots. Some have covered picnic tables, while most do not.

There is a gentleman that lives here and seems to act as the campground host. He was very friendly and welcoming. Suggested we park next to the water as there is less misquotes there then the other side by the brush. Also mentioned not to park/camp in the area that kinda looks like it might be a turn around or parking lot. Says people often have “cook outs” there.

There looks to be a bathroom/pit toilet building but he said not to go in there as they lately had some flooding and “it’s a mess”. We took his advice and avoided it.

No amenities. Pack in / pack out.

Awesome place, easy to get there and clean. Free campground!

Report Check-In

No problem to find the place (we use maps.me). Very quiet day and night, no other people here, only the old man and some fishermen. The toilets are closed. Nothing to pay as described.

Google Maps takes you out of the way — take 215N until it deadends, turn left toward “River Ridge Campground”

When I arrived there was one camper down near the toilets so I camped on the far side. Within 10 minutes, a huge family appeared and set up at every site adjacent to mine despite 8 other free sites. Dad was weed-wacking the national forest for 45 minutes. Now it’s been downpouring on their tents for the last two hours. Anyway. It’s free and beautiful along the river.

Good LTE cell service.

GPS coordinates took us to the wrong place, but if you’re coming from 215, turn left on 96 and there will be a sharp right turn on Hoovers Ferry rd a little farther down. As described. Easy to get to, some trash. Only a few other people here but quiet and peaceful. Lots of sun to charge with solar panels. Stayed 2 nights with no problem.

Report Check-In

Closed for the winter but we stayed next to campground at the boat ramp. Quiet until 5:30 am when the fishermen came. No toilets or trash cans. Beautiful spot.

Took me a bit to get here. The gps took me to the wrong spot at first. But when I got here this place smelled like sewage. And there was trash in most of the fire pits. I’m pretty disappointed, it looks like it would have been a nice spot but the smell is awful. Gonna leave and find somewhere else to stay.
