Description

As far south as you can drive. Ends at a naval station "Prefectura" cabo segundo Jorge Eduardo López. We came all this way... Might as well go as far south as possible.

Yep, we made it. Spending a night out here was really worth it. More meaningful for us than driving into Ushuaia. Time to go home now....

Report Check-In

Beautiful drive if you have the time to enjoy it. This is the "alternative" end of the road to RN3. Beautiful nature, tranquil, barely any other people or vehicles. We even saw one King penguin from the cliff near the naval station.

The road is unpaved. From RN3 the first 30 km are very good. After this we had to go a bit slower.

A few km before the end there is a rope across the road. This is to keep horses from running away. Open and close it after you have passed.

Report Check-In

Nice, quiet spot. The navy personnel and the man that lives in the red house very friendly. Walked to the light following horse path and 4 x4 track. Little over an hour each way. On the beach just before this spot I saw a king penguin sleeping on the beach.

After almost 2 years of traveling along the Panamericana, we also made it to the southernmost drivable point in the world. We were very glücklich☺️. The route from Ushuaia is a dirt road and it took us about 3 hours. The route itself is beautiful and a must-do for us at the end of the trip! Now it's time to head home. Don't stop traveling, there is still a lot to see...

There may not be an Instagramable sign, but you will surely be rewarded by the stunningly rugged and remote coastline at the southernmost drivable point in the world after a long journey. Cheers from Andy, Weedy & Coop on Christmas Day 2022.

Report Check-In

End of the track to the Miter Peninsula at the level of the prefecture buildings. You can continue on foot beyond. This is the lowest point in Tierra del Fuego where you can go with your vehicle.

fin de la piste vers la péninsule mitre au niveau des bâtiments de la préfecture. vous pouvez continuer à pied au delà. c’est le point le plus bas de la terre de feu où vous pourrez aller avec votre véhicule.

Worth a visit? Oh YES!
Guard says you can stay for night wherever you want. I stayed.
END.

Report Check-In

The road condition is not good, not bad. Any car can drive to the end of the road. Of course it was worth to drive here. From Yellowknife to the southernmosst point, Lim & Kim made it. Happy day!

Report Check-In

Had to do an update for those in trucks or SUV's after reading the below and expecting a long day. Vans and large trucks may consider this 4 hours as said below, but a normal truck, dirt bike or even the way the locals drive in small cars it's an hour and a half to two and a half hours each way.
One of the nicer dirt roads of our trip. 40+mph for much of it, 20kph near construction and then 30mph or so for the tighter stuff at the end.
It was pouring rain all night and the road was fine so I'd say 2wd is fine unless the construction crews make a bypass with softer dirt as we saw at one spot.
Have fun!

Angi, Leon and Michi did it as well. The road is very nice from Haberton to the little forest, the last bit is nothing special, but if you come that far you can as well do the last part of this special road. The view at the end is quite nice, make sure you walk around the naval building.

Report Check-In

Sigh....
Not sure it’s worth the almost 4hr drive on these roads...one way. We did it in a transit (sprinter) and it wasn’t much fun. Beautiful drive though, after driving the high planes of Patagonia.

Road is under construction so sections are very muddy after a rain.

Report Check-In

It's ok. It's a long drive from Ushuaia. Easily 3 hours as the dirt road is so slow. It also really isn't that interesting as a drive. I expected far more considering the comments below. Most of the drive is just through trees so you can't actually see anything. I'm guessing the posters who found it so beautiful hadn't yet driven though Patagonia etc.

Report Check-In

We also made it to the end of the road!
So happy to have been able to travel from Arica until here. You can have a little walk after the Prefectura but it is a super windy area.

Report Check-In

We made it!!!! 😀✌
This place is so special, it feels kinda surreal to be at the very end of the world...and the road J that led us here is spectacular!
A unique experience that we'll remember forever.

Small Correction: We don't have an 4x4. We have a fully loaded Mercedes Sprinter. Be careful where you park at the Naval Station, we got stuck on the soaked gras. Luckily 5 guys helped us to push our heavy car. Check the condition first before you park.

Report Check-In

We made it. YES. The scenic drive was awesome and we stopped often. The condition of the road was not the best. with a 4x4 no problem. unpaved road with potholes, ripped street, stones and often 10-20 km/h. but yeah we were here. Hasta la vista Baby.

Fim do fim ...
base naval Argentina no final da ruta J.

Report Check-In

Beautiful trip to the end of J73. Silvia, Mario, Rocky and Carmela did it.

Report Check-In

nice and good road ,better than national park near to usshuaia and free

Report Check-In

So,we’ve made it.
After reaching Ushuaia we didn’t feel any special emotion. It was Ok, and we were happy, but we didn’t feel like opening the bottle of champagne that we had brought for the occasion. After two days in town we decided to check Puerto Almanza.
Since we were so close to the end, why not given it a try? We went and was a simple and special moment. It felt much more accomplishing than getting to Ushuaia, like comments below, there’s nothing there, just the end of the road. But we are really happy we drove, and after that, found a place protect for the wind to have our lunch and, finally, toasting!
Now, it’s time to head north. :)

on peut s'y garer le temps de la promenade. c'est magnifique !!! les tiself étaient les plus heureux d'être arrivés jusqu'à cet endroit mythique

End of the road at the Naval Base. Great views over Beagle Channel

Report Check-In

We made it! Such a beautiful drive and so much more satisfying than Ushuaia. Had some bubbly to celebrate as we begin our long drive north!

Report Check-In

Great..you are really to the end...
Walk 1 or 2 hours to the balise that you can see since the house, it's wild.
With big rig it's OK (9T500 and high 3.6)
The Croods trotters was here!

Report Check-In

The TRUE end of the road!!! The drive here is beautiful and there’s a real feel of accomplishment that we didn’t get when we arrived in Ushuaia. Don’t forget to toast to the end of world! 😃✌🏼🎉🍺

Driving is an important point to visit. More south road.

Report Check-In

great nature and views on the way here, street in good condition

Report Check-In

o.k. we are here, but it is not really necessary to go so far. the nature beside the road is nice along the hole routa.
In my mind it's enough to drive up too the camping areal Rio Cambaceres (s54.88346 w67.23675) and enjoy this place. But don't blame me if you haven't been at the end, "only" 35 km to go, uuuups !

Report Check-In

Le bout du bout : la route la plus au sud du monde. Et en plus la vue tout au long de cette piste est belle. Nous sommes au km 92 sur cette RC J.

Report Check-In

beautiful views all the way along this road, well worth the drive to the end of the world.

Don't except a sign or anything like that there...but the drive to there is nice
