Description

MODERATOR NOTE: Day Use Only, Signs posted and enforced.

Entrance road to Phil’s trailhead in the Deschutes National Forest. Flat, quiet, easy access. Phil’s trailhead itself is definitely day use only, has bathroom facilities, and is empty at night but busy during the day. The other location here is separate.

Latest Check-Ins

Just past the trailhead to Phil’s you pass the gate and then continue maybe 1/4 mile to a large lot. Plenty of other travelers staying here.

After amazing Mt biking at Phil's trailhead we noticed campers staying overnight. We found a great spot off the dirt road to enjoy our evening. Ate outside, set up the hammock and will work remotely in the morning since the Verizon signal is great in our spot and then go out on a ride. No water at this spot.

Huge car camping lot about a 1/4 mile down the road from the trailhead. There is a gate that was open. Large enough for any rig. Lots of travelers camping, even in October. Please be respectful of the neighbors

Very easy to get to with Google Maps. Hopping pretty good on a Monday. Lots of activity. iIncredible scenery. More to come.

Report Check-In

We arrived late and didn't see the sign for day use only. There were at least 10 vehicles along the road when we arrived. Spotty Verizon signal. Dog-friendly. We stayed in the large parking lot for one night. It's a bit smoky now (August 2021) and we woke up congested.

Giant parking lot for Phil’s Trails. We stayed here two nights due to very limited options near bend. All hotels and campgrounds were booked. We parked in a turn-off the second night to avoid the road noise. A sign is posted “Day Use Only” but there were at least 6 cars there the first night and at least 10 the second night. No one bothered us. A pit toilet at the trailhead but no trash can that I could find. Please try to keep this one clean and take your trash with you!
