Description

Jose and Fernanda own this place and live there as well. Both are very friendly and Jose asked a few times if everything is ok, if we need anything etc. his English is also very good. The pools are nice to cool off and relax for the day. We asked Jose and his wife if it's ok to mark this place on ioverlander and they are happy to welcome other travellers as well. We paid 25 GTQ pp to camp and sleep in our minivan and were also allowed to stay next to the river till the next morning before other people/customers arrive. Pets are allowed, but you have to clean up after them. There is plenty of places to park any size vehicle that you may have and tons of room to pitch a tent or even a covered area where they would allow you to hang a hammock. There is a snack shop on site with drinks, snacks and ice cream. They have many BBQ pits available to use and you can borrow a grill at the office area but you need to bring your own wood or you can just head into the bushes across the river and find some. The road in is dirt but is one of the smoothest dirt roads we have been on in a long time. There is one other site on the river that is one km before this location so make sure to not mistake this place for it.

He compares this place with Tikal ....

Great place for a few days. As described, Jose is very friendly and accommodating. He was very kind and brought us some firewood on our first night. He also invited us to go fishing with him, but we declined as we were in the middle of making dinner, even so, on his way back he came by and offered us some of his catch.

Very clean toilets and shower (cold water only).

Very friendly dogs who kept us company the entire time we very there.

We didn’t swim as the weather was a bit chilly when we were there, but looks like it would be great.

Friendly owner, large facility. Jose was concerned about our comfort and experience and made us feel very welcome. Nice clean natural swimming holes. We arrived on a crowded Sunday and he advised us to wait until late afternoon so we could set up by the river in a nice spot. Quiet overnight.

Jose is a really nice guy. We arrived late, he opened the gate and made a fire for us: brought grill net and some charcoal, and showed us his place with a flashlight. We felt really welcome but didn't stay extra days: there are no Tigo reception, no WiFi on the site itself, no electricity (only in Jose' place, like charging laptops). Jose charged us 100 qtc per night (Toyota 4Runner+2 people). Felt a little bit overpriced, compared to other places.

Had an amazing time here with Jose and his family. we stayed 3 nights. ziplines into the water, swimming, playing, relaxing. Jose took us for a short jungles hike through a nearby cave. we even killed a chicken and hosted them for Thanksgiving dinner. Jose took me into town to go shopping.

$50Q pp per night. no charge for kids or dog.

it's dog heaven here too. there's a large grassy soccer field and lots if places for doggy diving.

this was seriously one of the nicest places that we have stayed on our 3 months so far. go here!

Wow, I'm always amazed when ppl find GEMS off the main road and they end up on here.
Basically this place is AMAZING! I ran into Jose on the 5km road in and he asked if I Was going to his place. He met me there and showed me all around the falls, fishing holes, zip lines, rope swings, soccer field. Later he took me on a "food tour" and showed me all the things growing around his farm.
I think he showed up 4 different times with various things they were cooking. Hoofs, soup, coconut, tortillas, fruits, and so on.
I even interviewed him for my website as he was such a happy guy.
Lived in N.America for years and his English is great.
25qz/night to camp & they sell snacks and drinks.
Watch for his sign about 5kms after the main turn.
WELL WORTH THE STOP !!!

This place was magnificent. José was great; very friendly and welcoming. He even brought us atol de elote (corn soup) one morning. The property and surrounding area are beautiful. Tons of palapas and barbeque pits along the river. We stayed two nights and were the only people there (low season). The zip lines into the river were crazy fun and the perfect cool off on a hot day. Pets are welcome and José has several sweet and playful dogs that made friends with our dog. Lots of options to park and camp. There wasn't electricity or water where we camped. Q25 pp. Definitely worth a stop. We would go back.

Beautiful river and cascades. We didn't stay, just day visited. Jose was very welcoming and offered camping and firewood. We walked the riverside and noticed some large rope swings and zipline looking things for dropping far out into the river. Larger area for parking with some directly next to palapas on the river.
