Great place to party with locals until 3am.... Very bad place to sleep. We were in a pinch because it was getting dark and didn't read all the comments... Oops. Rolled up in our van and basically parked in the middle of a huge tailgate party. We tried to find a secluded spot to the edge of the lot but there is no quiet spots until around 3am. Different music coming from every direction. Check it out if you want to chill out and drink beer. Not what we were after last night though. Lesson learned! There are some quiet beachfront lots on the other side of SJ or further up the coast. If you want a tranquil spot for the night, leave time to get to one of those.
Good place to spend a night on the beach in San José. Local guys fishing directly on the beach. Good swimming-spot too. Pit toilets. Quite at nighttime, after the locals were gone (at daytime you have to deal with different type of music from every truck around you). But wasn't too bad. Friendly family spot. Would probably not come along on a Saturday night. Lots of nice restaurants nearby. Take the dirt road behind Hotel Gonza. It's free.

Report Check-InYeah, this place is to be avoided if you want quiet. Dozens of local vehicles blaring music all day until maybe 3am, on a Tuesday. Pit toilets, full LTE, walking distance t several local joints.
Report Check-Infull of locals on weekends. fishermans, familles, music.
you can't go on the gps ioverland spot because the road fall down. not to many space. good for small one. the beach was not in good shape. nobody work to take care of it
Don't expect a quiet ocean parking lot. Arrived around 4PM and until 1AM there were truck(s) blasting music at full volume with all their doors open. Cars pulling in and out all the time, motorcycles revving, place was crazy. This was on a Wednesday night.
Report Check-InWe really liked it here! Stayed friday night and the music was not too bad. The locals are really friendly, easy to get friends! View is amazing and the toilets were clean in the morning :-)
Report Check-Inpublic beach parking ok for 1 night, dead end so no through traffic and the music was managable.
sea breeze, safe, free.
Not a good place if you’re looking to sleep. Loud as soon as the sun went down. Around 8pm a car parked right next to us and blasted music. Maybe if we knew the words it would’ve been better, because someone loved scream singing those songs. We left at 10:30pm on a Monday to the holiday inn. We’ll take the “it was loud” reviews a little more seriously now.
Report Check-InThis is basically a dirt parking lot for a public beach. It is where the locals apparently hang out and party. As I type this it is 2 a.m. and the music is still blaring.
Definitely would not recommend this place unless you are an all night party type.
We planned to stay here overnight but it was very loud with lots of people playing music and coming and going. We moved to the other spot on iOverlander by the Holiday Inn and it was much more peaceful. We were able to pick up free wifi from the restaurant here, it was an open network.
Report Check-InWe were here on a Sunday afternoon. Lot of familys on the beach. When the leave few cars with kids and loud music and lot of beer came. We could’t sleep so we drove to other Overlander spot Holiday Inn and was quiet. So maybe don’t stay here in a weekend. The spot on the ocean is great but the music.....
Report Check-InSpent a Friday night here. It was very load into the late hours and then again early with fishermen pulling in. Toilts, but dirty and my standards are pretty low. All in all free with a great view. There are plenty of restaurants and you can score wifi from a local restaurant if you get the password and have a booster. Felt safe. Your right next to fancy hotels and the marina with plenty of people around.
Report Check-InWonderful. Surrounded by locals enjoying the late evening sun. Yes folks are playing music but not that loud that you can't hear the waves crashing beneath you. Great atmosphere.
Report Check-InNot such a tranquil spot - lots of cars playing music that continued into the small hours, and just as it quietened down we were then serenaded by drunken singing at 5am. And this is a Thursday night!
Report Check-InNot much more than a car park but a good place to spend the night. Pop over to the small restaurant bar and get on the WiFi. Can't miss it from the roundabout (traffic circle for yanks) behind the hotel.
Report Check-InYes, quiet good description, we tried the new open Resto. La Playta Resort behind the great hotel, good food, mexican cooks, we appreciated.
