Nice place to stay for nights, place and space for many and big rigs. Wonderful view on the valley, can walk down to the river. Great restaurant. For night don't stay close to the restaurant because they put loud music around 4.30am. Family friendly and super welcoming.

very nice overnight stop to break up the drive. friendly owners, clean toilets and good restaurant. night is quiet, some trucks may pass by.

We are a couple cyclo-touring, this place is perfect to est, sleep, rest, have a shower. The owner is super easy-going. We eat lunch and breakfast. No possibility for dinner. We did not paid to stay at night. We sleep in tent and under the roof Rancho with an amazing view. Quiet at night. price for big lunch 35GTQ. best place to rest before next big day of cycling.

Report Check-In

quiet enough place until the owner decided to play extremely loud (and horrible) music at 5.30 in the morning. Wd decided to move on immediately to find better spot.

Couldn’t drive anymore after that horrible road from Lanquin. Fortunately able to stay here for a night. Had a wonderful evening with the cook and her children. Close to road so may hear some traffic...

Report Check-In

Arrived here after a long drive from Lanquin and were welcomed by the owner Don Canche in a super friendly way. He‘s happy to host overlander on the parking of the restaurant and has toilets available. Good stop to break the drive because he’s right in the middle from Lanquin to Chichicastenango. Beautiful views over the valley and good place to have some beers after a driving day

Not sure if the owner just didnt want to talk to me or if he didnt want to anyone, but the waitress directed me to him at the VIP area. After 2 minutes of talking with him, he just left without saying anything to go watch TV at the bar (the place was empty). When I realized he was not coming back, I went back to my car and he almost immediately went back to where I was. I was still allowed to spend the night.

The dog, which was super lovely, barked all night and then the employees started cleaning the floors at 3:30am!! No wonder this place closes early in the afternoon! Very little sleep.

Amazing guy. Free tent camping under his restaurant palapa roof. Shared beers and chatted overlooking a beautiful valley. Only snacks, beer, and ice cream available after restaurant close (~6pm). Canche speaks English and used to live in Colorado. Careful--the medium dog chewed my SPOT tracker and the small dog snuck into my tent in the middle of the night. Woke up with a cuddle buddy! Don't expect to sleep past 6am.

Stopped here for lunch. Very friendly and welcoming! Food was delicious. Two drinks and two meals came to 95q. Lovely people.

We arrived at 17:00 hrs just as he was closing. We were disappointed not to get some food, but he gave us a big welcome and some beer out the fridge. Peaceful night, very friendly guy, tasty breakfast in the morning (opens at 06:00 hrs) eggs, frijoles, cheese, tortillas and coffee for 20Q pp. Good value. No charge for overnight. Clean flush-toilets. Cold shower.

Very friendly owner. We pitched our Tent in the "Zona Vip" for free. We could use the flush toilets and he also offered us a cold shower. Nice place for cyclists in the steep mountains. We had dinner and cold beer We can really recommend this place.

Super friendly owner. Chatted with him for a while, he made us feel very welcome. We parked immediately alongside the restaurant palapa. Unfortunately now that the road is repaired there were large trucks driving by all night, some stopping here for a nap, plus the employees started work at 5am talking and cleaning, then music at 6.30am, so it was a noisy, bad night sleep!

friendly owner, nice breakfast and quiet at night. he gave us some tips for the area.

Really, really beautiful place. A great view, very quiet at night and very friendly. You stay for free but we of course had breakfast in the morning. Great to stop for lunch as well.

Report Check-In

Great place to stay for night. Don Canche loves tourists! Safe and friendly location! Nice views on the river and mountains. Free but it is good to eat or drink. Breakfast with coffee - 20Q, beer Gallo - 10Q. Important! - road from Coban (26km) is very bad (pot holes), you need to drive slow. If you are driving from Coban late it is better to stay At Coban! We drove whole section At night and it was tiring.

we loved this place. the owner is very friendly and has an awesome dog we loved. we tent camped in the restaurant space after the customers were gone for the evening, and he even had us move our motorbikes in there. it was a Friday night, so the locals were there--we made friends with a couple as everyone was super nice and interested in our trip. we had a dinner of caldo do gallina, and the next morning we had breakfast. the owner lived in Colorado for a time, so we stayed up into the night talking.

it felt very safe, and I slept really well! we've already talked about returning when we come back through.

Very friendly owner, safe place and good food. Was quiet all night without traffic and we slept very well. In the morning we did a nice hike to the river. Free, only need to eat something which is cheap. Beautiful scenery very clean toilets and showers

Very good place to stay over night. Could charge my phone, take a shower and set up my tent in the restaurant area after the customers were gone. Only food and drink was charged by the very friendly owner. Also we had some beers with the other guests, a pleasant night! Thanks again, I definitively recommend this place.

Sylvia und Paul: The steak was tough . If you like barking dogs in the evening, and a musicbox starting at 6.15 in the morning ...well, than enjoy!

Great spot to spend the night. We drove from Semuc Champey and stopped here for the night en route to Nebaj. Canche is super friendly, as are the staff. He has flush toilets and showers which are very clean. the restaurant food was very good. We had a caldo de gallo and some breakfast in the morning before heading out. Definitely would recommend. The views are beautiful too.

We really enjoyed our stay at Don Canches restaurant. Reasonable food prices and very friendly ladies in the kitchen. He speaks English and helped us continue to learn more Spanish while we were there. He really loves to have travelers stay and has started a log book for people to check in. The roads to and from here are rough so nice having a place to break up the drive.

This is an incredible place ran by an incredible person. We had the best time with him and his friend. He allowed us to park inside the restaurant after he closed down. We could use shower, nice clean toilets with seats and TP. In the morning he made us platanos and coffee and we bought super cheap fresh orange juice from one of the local girls. Very very highly recommended.

We had a wonderful time with Canche. The food was excellent. Swam in the river nearby. Quiet and safe night! A MUST!

Incredibly friendly owner. Good food for good price. Beautiful view. We were headed to HueHue to meet friends so we just stopped for lunch, but he offered us a place to stay.

Canche, the owner, is super hospitably. He has a very big parking lot in front of his restaurant. You can park for free, use the shower (cold) and restrooms. We filled up our water tank from the mountains. Drinking quality, free.
There was only one truck passing in the night so it was very quiet and absolutely safe.

We had some beers together which we paid, but he wouldn't expect a pay for the night. One could park there, sleep and shower and say thanks (like truck drivers do). Fine with him. In the morning there were two señoras preparing breakfast for guests. We haven't tried it as we only have coffee in the morning.

Really worth the visit to this place before or after taking the road. The owner is a great guy willing to receive many overlanderers and share experiences.
