Description

Established campground and restaurant on the quiet north road. Friendly owner, were quoted 20k pp to camp inc. use of the pool. May be able to negotiate down if don’t use pool. Small but packed fossil museum, included if camping, 5k pp if not. We had lunch there for around 20k pp (soup, large main, lemonades) but carried on to another place because there was virtually no shade options for tent camping. Valle de las Constelaciones was closed on this day.

We had lunch here while driving the loop counter clockwise. Very friendly people, nice breeze in the shade of the roofed seating area. There's a little 3.5km hiking trail on which you can see fossils. But it was way to hot to hike at that time. We wanted to wild camp in the desert so we didn't stay for the night. Toilets had seats and were clean!

we came through around noon on a Thursday and stopped to check out the pools since a dip did sound kind of nice. we looked around for a few minutes and found that there was no one here, the whole place looked pretty run down so we left.

Very nice place! It was very hot and therefore really enjoyed the pool (that we had for ourselves). Could make a barbecue in the evening and invited the owner to join us. He gave us a local drink to try and offered us some honey. Very nice of him! Basic showers and toilets but okay being in the middle of the desert. Recommendable!

Campground, restaurant, pool, fossil collection… we stopped here for lunch on our way into the park (the norther route) and didn’t camp but the owners were super nice and other than being a bit further away from the main part of the desert it would be an awesome secluded area to spend a night or too enjoying the solitude. There is however very little shade but being a bit higher up it was nice and breezy, and… well there is a small pool to cool off in.
Please note that at time of writing the access for 2x4 or low clearance vehicles is recommended via the south entrance and through the park as there are a couple of mud rivers and ruts that might be challenging on the northern entrance.
