This area remains out of water even when the salar is flooded. we went there with our 15 ton vehicle.

We used this location to try and enter the salar with our 2WD motorhome but when we arrived to the point where the road finishes and the salar starts we found impossible to acces to it because of the water. We couldn’t even acces it by foot because the water was almost until our knees so we just had to see it on the distance. Only accessible with 4WD when it is so rainy and the salar is so flooded.

1 km south we stayed completely alone with our motorhome on the very white saltfield of the salar. As there is much water on the salar at it’s beginning we let us guide here by a local guide. The night was really quiet and the moon was throwing its shadow onto the motorhome.

Here at 11:00 am and only one tour van arrived. But previously was here at 12:00 and no way to get photo alone as too many tours and cars parked all around.

Report Check-In

very quiet around 3:00 pm but I could imagine it would be annoying when the tours show up.
