This place is somehow sad. The surroundings are beautiful but it looks like nobody cares anymore. There is a toilet and shower building outside. The toilets there are dirty. The showers there do not have water. The owner told us to take shower in one of the rooms in the main building. Well, it smells like pee and is covered with mold. The swimming pools are also very very dirty.

The place is nice and safe but it felt somewhat abandoned. The pool was dirty and there was no one around beside us. we could use WiFi and toilets and paid 10 USD for one night with motorhome, 2 adults, 2 kids.
The street is indeed steep and rocky but we managed with a 2wd.

nice place, friendly owners/family. paid 10 USD pn for 2 adults+2 kids. suitable for big rigs. wifi did not work; toilets/showers/electricity.

Nice place to stay before crossing the border to Peru. We paid 5 dollars for 2 pp for one night. The last is rough but with some speed you will definitely get up the road.

Very good value and safe place to stay after late border crossing. Friendly owners, gate closed at night so secure. Outdoor toilet and shower. Likely a beautiful property back in the day! Road up a little rough but only 150m and no problem in 2wd!

Road is absolutely destroyed and steep. We can here and had to leave right at the dirt road. The road was fully washed out

Very nice and quiet place. We stayed 2 nights.
The host is very kind. You have bathroom, showers and pool.

Highly recommend this place. Superfriendly, clean and quiet besides the chicken in the morning. Shady and flat places. Just a little bit steep and narrow access. Had also a simple but really nice dinner. Chicken is from their own farm.

la única recomendación es que hay que avisar antes de llegar. vinimos porque vimos aquí en la app, pero casi casi no nos abren la puerta! el resto todo bien tal cual describen en los anteriores comentarios

In our opinion the best place in Macara. Super friendly owners and a beautiful place. Only 5$ per night for the 2 of us. We could use their washing machine (2 times for $5). The toilets and showers are not super clean but for 5$ pn there is not much to expect. Nice swimming pool and 110v electricity. They even put a router outside for us so we had perfect internet. The road to the hostal is a bit rough. But only 150 m, every taxi or van can do it for sure.

Spent 2 nights here because we enjoyed the cold nights after the hot coast.
The owner was really friendly and gave us water once so we didn’t have to drive into Macara.
Besides that our dog was really happy because their dogs accepted him and didn’t fight.
Toilets were not really clean but acceptable. Shower didn’t work in the first day so we could use another one from their hotel (?), was nice because the water was hot. But the bathroom was also really dirty. The showers we were supposed to use und did use on the second day we’re cold but cleanish.
The surrounding is really beautiful (put a photo online).
Payed 5$ for 2 persons, 1 van and 1 dog a day, so 2,50$ pPpn

Great place to stay. Alberto is very nice, we could use the washing machine for $3, toilets and showers are clean. The access road and the entrance are a bit rough at the moment but our 2WD Fiat Ducato made it up there without trouble. Enjoy!

$5 per night. One small rig with 2 people. Ice Cold showers, strong enough wifi to upload 175 b-roll footage to google drive. nice place.

Great spot before or after the border. $3 for a night. Big carpark. Safe. Friendly owner. Electricity and water available. The Wifi was strong too.

Nice place to stay to go to the border the next day. We had a nice walk in the nature there all around with pigs, chickens, cows and a few friendly people. We could use the bathroom next to the pool and also had a shower, all good here. Friendly owner, she let us be and was not too intruding

Great place to stay. I arrived by bicycle after crossing over from Peru and was allowed to camp in my tent next to the pool for $3, bargain! Pool is great and clean, as are the toilets and showers. Rooms available too and the owners also let people stay in their campers/cars. Fantastically friendly owners. Recommended

I was allowed to sleep in my car and use the facilities for 3 US. A bargain. very friendly and helpful staff. Fast wifi. Recommended.

Spacious, flat parking area of hotel. Bathrooms were dirty, no tp. Cold shower. Good WiFi. Has a swimming pool. Good location for crossing border the next morning. Quiet and gated. $5per van.

This is our second visit here. Nice, clean, quiet and friendly. No problems with our 7.5m truck. 5 dollars per truck.

Good place to stay for a night. Not a lot arround this place. I arrived here after the boarder crossing from peru. Clean shower's. Clean toilet's. No hot water. Potable water avaliable. Quiet. Wifi ok. Payed 3$ for the night.

We create this point in order travelers easily see that this hostel is also a fantastic campground. We stayed 3 nights and it Was a Perfect place for our kids, there is a soccer ground. I used their washing machine for 3 dollars per machine.
