Description

A great spot about 10km north of town. Located on a river (no fish). It's set in a small forest that offers protection from the frequently fierce winds. Electricity available in the restaurant.

I enjoyed my stay at this campground. Mid March I was the only one camping with a tent.
Friendly owners, eager to help with whatever needs I had
Good wind protection and great views of the river
Heads up: no WiFi and no cell coverage. Good at the restaurant is not great, but there are stoves at refufugio

Report Check-In

High season price now 10000pp. Really hot showers, on a schedule. Decent wind protection for vehicles, excellent wind protection for ground tents. Nice place to get a break from the free camping at the visitor center.

Report Check-In

Wonderful little camp ground! They had super hot showers and very clean bathrooms. They had a bunch of games and playgrounds for kids. They also have a small restaurant and two small community kitchens where you can cook and eat your own food. The spots also had picnic tables and outside grills as well. We stayed one night in our camper van and they charged us $7000 ARS PP.

Report Check-In

very nice, small campground. friendly owner, clean bathrooms and hot shower. we paid 14 USD for 2 persons and a van. only two or three spots available for camper vans.

Report Check-In

Ok campground, but small and lot of noice of cars passing by. Dirt road to get there also not in a good condition. If its low season, I would recommend staying in campground in the town.

Report Check-In

Price now 2,500pppn. Busy, but much better than in town-better wind protection and space between tents. Restaurant offers some simple dinner options, tarts, beer and small convenience store goods. Hot shower only 7-10, but consistently hot after many people. No internet/cell reception. Great views from river.

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

estão fechados para reforma. informaram que talvez reabram entre final de outubro/2022 e começo de novembro/2022.

Report Check-In

Fun for kids - great climbing and playing structures. Shower fluctuates hot/cold. 600 pesos each. Not many people when we were there (covid!) but I can imagine it would be super crowded in a normal year - sites are all small. Don't think a big rig could enter under the gate nor fit anywhere to camp. //

Report Check-In

Shower 24 H. Clean and good Wind protection. Great kitchen and refugio.
Sound of the river
Lot of children 👶 around!

Report Check-In

Just a price update, didn't stay. 450pppn. Looks nice but it is fairly close to the road, which is busier than you'd think.

Report Check-In

we can't recommend the place at all. its 400 pp now in a tent. not acceptable for this price. the showers did not work at all (water was just dripping our / either you burned yourself or froze to death / showers locked in the morning. no WiFi. the place was quite crowded so you head the snoring surround sound the whole night. people were already at 5 in the morning very loud. you'll find definitely better campgrounds around.

Report Check-In

camping très cher, pas d'eau chaude. pas d'Internet. excellents jeux pour les enfants. tarifs un peu abusés vu les prestations.

Report Check-In

very good base camp if you want to hike or explore el chalten, price is 300 Ars pppn but if you stay three nights you get little discount and you van negociate it too. frendly staff working and good vibes between travellers. very good if you want to escape from "tourists crazyness" the crowded village of el chalten.
would be good to have electricity and hot showers 24 hours but they are limited.

Report Check-In

Nice campground but very expensive for what you get.
Beautiful location in the woods and at the river. Very cool and big playground for kids.
Tents stand very close. No wind at our spot between the trees. Some bbq facilities. Clean bathrooms but showers only open between 6 and 10 pm. Often no water in the bathrooms, but usually at the sinks. Dirty sinks with cold water for washing dishes. Little restaurant, food was ok, cake was good.
All that for 640 pesos for two persons in a tent without bbq. We think with kids this is a perfect place but if you are just looking for a quiet night it’s overpriced. However, we are not sure if there is a real choice when tent camping. There are some campgrounds even further away from town which are not yet on iOverlander, maybe they are worth a try.

Report Check-In

Great place with friendly hosts and a nice view ar the river. Hot shower between 18-22hrs. You can cook your diner in the kitchen. With a camper 320 ARS pp cash. There is a ATM in Calafate, but often empty they say. We tried in the morning and there was no money, but in the afternoon we could withdraw 3000 ARS pp.

Report Check-In

Spent two nights here - great sheltered spot for our van right by the river. Hot showers from 7pm, nice huts to cook. Beautiful views! 300pesos per person.

Report Check-In

The price is now 300pppn and this includes children over 3 although we managed to get this fee waived for a 5 year old. We were told by the owners that there are no fish in the river, it’s glacial and too fast flowing. Small amount of electricity to charge phones.

Report Check-In

We stayed here for one night. It was more expensive at 300 pesos per person but it was well worth it for a nice hot shower, a beautiful campground next to the river, and places to grill which we took advantage of. The staff was friendly and allowed us to gather some wood to start our charcoal fire for the grill. The hot showers were only available at night though from 7:00p - 11:00p.

Report Check-In

Currently closed, probably due to off season, sign at gate says : cerrado, not dates provided

Report Check-In

One night 200ARS, two or more nights 180ARS pp
Beautiful location, quiet. Good wind protection.

Report Check-In

great campsite with restaurant and cooking facilities, although expensive in high season 200 pp

Report Check-In

We were here peak season and the place was crowded, family atmosphere, noisy in the day and quiet at night! Bit optimistic for Land Rover and Caravan, a very tight squeeze. Really helpful staff, well run site.

Report Check-In

160 pesos pr person. car or motorhome free. big playground. lots of tree's. hot shower from 19 to 22. little restaurant. cooking posible. nice

Report Check-In

Camping tres sympa, wind shelters. Jeux pour les enfants et les grands ! patron sympathique. 160 Pesos par personne.

Report Check-In

Beautiful place. Everything we expected from a small, basic camping and more: some wind protection from trees, sinks to wash dishes, very clean and well maintained facilities (even toilet paper, soap and paper towels), hot shower & electricity (solar power, therefore hot water & electricity only from 7 to 11pm), indoor shelter with gas stove and table to cook&eat, great playground for kids, BBQ pits & tables and a small but nice coffee bar & shop (on request for breakfast, coffee&cake, dinner). Family friendly, but super quiet (no loud music allowed). No WLAN. 300ARG for 2 persons in a rooftop tent is not cheap, but worth it. Highly recommended, one of the best places so far.

Report Check-In

Great stop! We negotiated 120 pp if we stayed more than 2 nights. It’s basic but it worked good for us. No wifi. No wind!

Report Check-In

Price still 150 pp pn. Beautiful location, very friendly people, directly next to the river, well protected from the wind, showers are hot from 19.00 - 22.00. Everything is clean and neat. Not sure this is the same in high season, but we were almost alone here. Highly recommend!

Report Check-In

150p/pers. Nice camping. Perfect for children (slake line, tiro, etc...). Can be protected from the wind. We were there with our rooftop tent, good during the night but the direction of wind changed on the morning... we had to pack our tent. Nice and helpful owner. There is also a minimarket, a bit expensive but good product. We recommend

Report Check-In

good, very good ! $150Ar p/person. there is toys for children. clean bwc. place for cook.

Report Check-In

Nice quiet campsite, 150 Pesos per person.

Report Check-In

150 per person. Slice of cake cost 80. Showers from 7 to 10. We got a nice site by the river. Big playground. No electricity in common hut, you can cook there but it is small and dark with no water. Sinks outside showers cold water only. Bathrooms clean.

Report Check-In

Perfect campsite -sheltered from the wind

Report Check-In

Commercial camping in pretty area next to river with views of mountains beyond. Approximately 15 tents sites spread around central kids playground. Sites small, close together, and not particularly attractive. Tent site 150 pesos per person. Some "eco domes" vary in price depending on size: 560 pesos for 2 person some. 2 person dome is a bit shabby, but in most beautiful spot in camping. Also tiny cabanas available. Central toilets, playground, cold washing, showers (not sure if hot) and small restaurant. Best thing about this location is that it is 10 km outside of drab El Chalten in nature, on a dirt road which can be done carefully in 2wd. Motor homes can stay in parking area next to river.

Report Check-In

Too expensive for what it offers. No wifi,no electricity or hot shower during the day.150 pesos pp..too much!

Report Check-In

Nice and quiet campground in very beautiful landscape. In a valley by the river. 150 Pesos per person per night. Fire pits, wooden and concrete tables/benches. Clean showers and toilets. Hot water and electricity from 19.00 to 24.00. Kitchen with gas stove in a hut. Very very nice couple who run the place, even treated us with a piece of their delicious chocolate cake for my birthday.

Report Check-In

We loved this spot (a much better option than the campgrounds in town), and stayed for four nights. There's a great playground, pet sheep and dogs, hot showers in the evening, shelter from the Patagonian winds and a tasty restaurant/cafe (leave space for the very tempting cakes and tarts). $120 ppn in Jan 2016. No wifi.

Report Check-In

Great campground very well run by young folks from bariloche. Clean and hot showers, simple kitchen, swinging bridges and trampoline, a little restaurant, all very tastefully done. Dog friendly and no worries about the wind here at all.

Report Check-In

They want 120 per Person. Didn't stay, but it looks nice. There are several dogs, a sheep, and a great playground. This is outside the np boundaries.

Report Check-In

The2Dutch. Price 100 P P/P we left to a free place.

Report Check-In

Nice campsite by the river, sheltered from the wind. Hot showers from 6pm-11pm and a communal area which also has a kitchen. We didn't use the kitchen as there are bbq pits at each site. Hung out for 2 days. Good spot to chill and also near the El Pilar trail which was our favourite.

Report Check-In

This season 100 Ar$. Clean. Warm Showers. Not very big places, but with brick fireplace. Lot of climbing for kids!

Report Check-In

Closed for the season as of today (4/13/15).

Report Check-In

One of the most beautiful campgrounds I've ever seen! 10k out of Chalten in the North of the NP, right next to the river. Huge playground for little and big kids (trampoline!), hot showers from 7-10pm, wonderful people and a 'House'-sheep! 80p per Person are absolutely worth it!

Report Check-In

Great camp on the river. Trees provide Wind protection, tables, grills, community kitchen, clean toilets, hot showers. $80 per person for camp site or domes available for rent $120 per person. Restaurant onsite. Several hikes out this way.

Report Check-In

A great spot about 10km north of town. Located on a river that according to the owners are full of fish. It's set in a small forest that offers protection from the frequently fierce winds. Electricity available in the restaurant.

Report Check-In

– 10km north of El Chalten.. 10 kilometers north of town lies this beautifully situated riverside campground. There is good wind protection as the campground is set in a tall old-growth forest.. New fences and gates have gone up on this northern road in recent years. There were very few bush camping opportunities.

AR$30 per person, AR$30 for vehicle (vehicle charge only for the first night)
