Latest Check-Ins

We stayed 1 night heading south and now one night heading north within a week apart. On our second stay they have plywood and barricades up in the front saying No Camping in these areas. Still there are rigs in the roped off areas. The problem is they have a back lot for RVs but only 1/2 are using it. I always go to the back but I bet the there r 20+ in the front customer lot. To me this is the problem. Be respectful and go to the back in the designated RV area. The other issue is the other day there were several who unhooked and left. They are trying to help overnight passersby’s. If you are wanting to drop your rig or unhook toad and leave rig …. You should really be respectful and get a campsite somewhere. Cabelas is not a campgrounds. I have a prediction they will stop all overnight stays if this abuse keeps up. I hate that because I love staying at Cabelas and I always try to go in and buy something if I have time to support them.

Report Check-In

One night tolerated. We had a warning in the morning today on our door.
Une note a été déposée sur notre porte ce matin pour nous informer qu’une seule nuit était tolérée et que notre camion avait été enregistré

Report Check-In

Been staying here for about a week now. Today they blocked off part of the lot and put up a sign that says "no parking no camping" by the barricades. I'd say there are at least 60-70 campers/vehicles on r lot every night; it's kinda crazy. Like someone else said, I don't see how this can continue.

It's in a quiet and seemingly safe part of town. I've been using leveling blocks since all the spots are off-level.

Some of the class As and Cs run their generators at inconsiderate times or all night. Kinda rude when everyone is so close to each other. Also, someone left a large bag of trash in the lot a few days ago. I was going to grab it but it has some dog doodoo bags loosely on top. Clean up after yourselves!

Report Check-In

No issue, lots of RVs.
Guess this is the Anchorage RV hub in south AK.

Report Check-In

There really are about 30-50 campers here. The night was freaking loud. The seagulls didn't shut up and cars drove by. At 5.30 am truck came for delivery and they began yard work. Maybe we just had a bad timing.

Report Check-In

This place is amazing. It was full of campers and vans the night we stayed, most we’ve ever seen for a non campsite. Felt very safe. Quiet except for the seagulls. Would have been a free option if we hadn’t spent so much in the store 😂

Report Check-In

Great spot for the night, plenty of room in the side lot and everyone was quiet and respectful. There was a clear view of the sky for Starlink and good cell service. There were probably about 20 other campers there overnight.

Report Check-In

love this place.... always wonderful no matter which store I visit, love their products too. Staff is always friendly and knowledgeable about outdoor activities in their area

Report Check-In

No overnights. The manager yelled at us and threatened to tow us.

Report Check-In

Very clean and spacious parking lot at the front and they also have spots for trucks and RV parking at the side of the building. Asked the front if it’s OKAY and said yes for 24 hours only.

Report Check-In

The RV lot is to the left of Cabela’s, even though people park in the front lot as well, despite the no overnight parking sign. Lots of RVs but not bad.

Report Check-In

Better then Walmart to overnight. We park near front entrance, less crowded. Just be aware of the car shenanigans near Target on weekends late. Didn’t bother us though, slept great!

Report Check-In

Just a parking lot. The amount of other campers here is absolutely insane.

I would be surprised if Cabelas lets people continue staying. People are literally camping out with awning out and camping chairs in the parking lot.

Report Check-In

Packed parking lot, generators running, kids screaming, dogs barking, if you want to sleep go somewhere else.

Report Check-In

Great spot tucked away from the main roads. People are definitely going to mess this up though as several of the campers/rvs are unattached and on levelers. The folks vehicles are not even with them.

Report Check-In

we slept 3 nights there. quiet, even if it's crowded by rv and vans for the night

Report Check-In

Had a quiet night, except for the squaking seagulls, with about 50 other campers. Unbelievable. Parked on the side of the store.
Nearby stores and restaurants.

Report Check-In

Big parking lot. Many rigs. Very clean and peaceful.

Report Check-In

Perfect spot for boondocking night. Quiet courteous neighbors last night. Do some shopping show cabela’s some appreciation. Rear lot nearly full last night.

Report Check-In

Parking area for RVs along the right side of the building.

Report Check-In

O estacionamento é bem espaçoso, tinha vários viajantes dormindo. Super tranquila a noite e silenciosa.

The parking lot is very spacious, there were several travelers sleeping. Super quiet at night and quiet.

Report Check-In

It’s just a parking lot with an overflowing dumpster but it worked fine for me. A LOT of RVs and campers.

Report Check-In

Lots of RV’s. Dump station has been removed. So no amenities available. Not many level spots. Did not stay went to Chevron which did have great dump, dump water and potable water.

Report Check-In

lots of RVs, ok for a night, generator running, people late arrive, not nice, no road noise, ca 50 Campers when we arrived

Report Check-In

love the wildlife displays throughout the store. great to stock up on supplies too! good inventory of fishing tackle, cold fish shipping boxes.

Report Check-In

RV parking, lots of spaces on the north side of the building set aside for RVs.
The main lot out front is marked with No Overnight parking, but some RVs parked there as well, so a bit of a free-for-all, but again, parking at the edges.

Report Check-In

Great spot / lots of RV’s . Tons of space which seems common at Cabelas

Report Check-In

In The main carpark their are ‘no overnight parking’ but round the side is an area marked for RV parking and it’s like a little campsite with loads of vans. We stayed two nights ( moved in the day) with no problems at all.

Report Check-In

Stayed here for one night. Good place, lots of other campers. RV parking is located between Cabelas and Target

Report Check-In

There are a lot of RVs parked here, even trailers with no trucks...but the sign says "no overnight parking". I added a photo of the sign from today.

Report Check-In

Safe a good place to sleep in Anchorage. Please, turn off you power generator during the night, be kind with your wheels neighbors.

Report Check-In

stayed one night along with tons of other campers and vans. lots of Alaska plates. get there early to get a level spot

Report Check-In

I stayed here in a camper van 3 different nights throughout the week. I would arrive around 7pm and leave by 7am, and had no issues. At least 20 other rigs every night I was here… also lots of cars w/ Alaska plates spending the night, as well. Maybe commuters? Lots of green space for pups, on leash only.

Report Check-In

Customer Service desk reports updated policy of only 24 hour parking, which is equivalent to 1 night. Enforcement seemed nonexistent in the side lot. Excellent commercial amenities with Target, Cabelas, Starbucks, Smashburger, and several eateries. Target open until 11 PM was particularly helpful. Quiet night.

Report Check-In

Just like everyone said, there are “no overnight parking” signs, but there were at least 15-20 RVs each night we stayed and security drove around without any issues.

There is a dump station with non potable water, Target next door and potable water no far away. Great spot, best you can get considering it’s a parking lot

Report Check-In

Spent a couple nights here (not back to back). There were tons of RVs and campers to the left of the building. I spoke with the secutiy patrol guy and he said they don't care if you stay up to 48 hours. I'd say it's one of the safest free places in Anchorage!

Report Check-In

Just like everyone says in the comments, there are signs saying you cannot camp overnight. When we stayed there were probably 20 to 30 rigs parked on the side of the building and a few parked in the front lot. I did see a security car drive by but wasn't sure if that was for the whole mall or just a random car.

Report Check-In

Here i stand is a big place for Truck and RV and an Dumping Station.

Report Check-In

Bonne place pour passer une nuit.Il y avait beaucoup de rv sur le parking.

Report Check-In

Great place to stay for a night. Got here early afternoon no problem. But it did fill up later on. Heard one plane but the birds screaming all night. Put ear plugs in and sleep great.

Report Check-In

We stayed here to nights without any problems. The parking security guy patrols the area during store hours. Cabellas is open from 10 am till 9 pm.

The Target Store next door is open 8 am till 11 pm daily and had restrooms, a Starbucks and a snack bar as well as groceries.

Report Check-In

Signs say no overnight parking yet the north lot is full of rigs obviously staying. We asked inside and we're told it's OK for 24 hours. They cautioned us to stay with our rig as there's no overnight security.

Report Check-In

Corrections management says water is potable says non potable for insurance reasons.
Go inside for code to use dump otherwise $5
Not strict on the 48 hours

Report Check-In

Lots of rigs here good pull thru spots currently someone is taking up 8 spots with his truck, trailer, chairs and bbq grill and another car, but it’s been quiet nothing loud except the planes I just wear ear buds .
Dump and non pot water in same area as rv parking located between cabelas and target and the north side of store closest to Hwy 1

Report Check-In

If you need to stay in town and don’t wish to pay for an RV park or established campground, this is about your only option. It’s a good one though. There is a fee to use the dump station. There is a lot of grass around the property if you have pups that need walking. There are also a few dog kennels if you wish to let your dog hang out for a bit.

Report Check-In

There are still the no overnight parking signs but when we got there - there was another camper already on the lot. They were blocking the “parking not to exceed 48 hours” sign.

The only noise was some plows, but the snow moving people were super nice and made sure to avoid our camper stairs!

Report Check-In

Too many RVs for our taste. Too noisy: generators, construction nearby all night, train whistles all night, train crossing bells, traffic, and from 4am...planes taking off.

We’re in Anchorage another week but won’t be back here.

Report Check-In

Slept There 2 nights no problem
Toilet available in the shop

Report Check-In

It’s open again. A lot of rvs sleeping here!

Report Check-In

Everybody is here. The sign say No Overnight but it’s possible.
It’s an Outdoor store.

Se puede dormir acá. Están todos los RV de la zona. Aunque el cartel diga que “No es posible dormir” el guardia de seguridad no dice nada.
Es una tienda de Outdoor y Camping.

Report Check-In

IS NOT CLOSED. You have to park at the side. Although there's a sign about overnight parking there's also a small green sign in this (RV) carpark to say you canpark for a maximum of 48 hrs. Also a dump. Toilets inside. M-F 9-9. Missed weekend times. Cafe inside opens at 10 am. Starbucks nearby has good WiFi.

Report Check-In

Yes there are signs but overnight parking is really no problem here at all. We have spoken with the manager and they just don’t want you to park straight in front of the store. They would like to have you on the side of the store. There is a 5 dollar dump available. Target is next door with some free wifi. Great solution for Anchorage.

Report Check-In

Yes it’s right - there are signs with „no overnight parking“ but if you ask inside they’ll tell you it’s still o.k to stay for 48h.

Report Check-In

Big rig carpark next to Cabela’s (around corner from other carpark area). Signs saying no overnight parking but there are at least a dozen RVs parked up for the night so safety in numbers I guess?

Report Check-In

Sign no overnight parking! It’s no longer allowed.

Report Check-In

parking is on left side of building, between store and Target. Smashed Burgers sells nice burgers, if you don't feel like cooking :-) Didn't find the toilets, but Target is open till 11pm!

Report Check-In

Great place for a brief stopover. Target, Starbucks and Cabelas all a very short walk from common parking lot. Dump station available in the parking lot for $5 USD fee

Report Check-In

didn't find any toilets or water there... but the place is fine

Report Check-In

Cabela's Outdoor Gear Shop, overnight parking/camping for 48 h allowed, big parking area like walmart, dumpstation and non-potable water left from building

Report Check-In

Huge parking in front of Cabela's outdoor shop. A lot of RV's and vans stay here overnight. Free!
