Description

*Overnight camping/parking is NOT available at this location.
.....
Very scenic area that is popular with hikers and mountain bikers. One large lot and tiered areas for great views. It’s especially popular with the mountain biking campers. Some areas are fairly rough, so not recommended for larger rigs. Great spot for sunsets and sunrises, seems popular with the locals. I stayed three nights (different spot each night), without issues. Near the abandoned amphitheater.

“New park rules: closed 10pm-6am”
So keep on heading down to the dispersed sites a few miles down the road in Red Rock.

This is the last spot in Sedona and it WILL get shut down if we don’t treat it with respect. Do not set up here like it’s BLM or a paid campground. I’ve seen big RVs set up chairs, bikes, generators and post up for days. This is a TRAILHEAD, so park in a way that allows as many others to park and hike as possible. Leave early and arrive late.
I grew up in this area and have seen so many good spots get such down due to misuse. It’s not too bad of a drive out to designated camping if you’re hoping to post up for the day. Remember to respect mama earth AND the locals!

Just parked here overnight and it was beautiful to wake up to! There were multiple cars and rvs around me as well. I think this is a pretty solid overnight parking place.

Stayed here 1 night no problem! It was super busy but there was plenty of parking. Watch out for cactus’!

GREAT SPOT!!! I stayed 3 days. Amazing views of the northern Sedona valley and epic wide sunsets complete walking trails and benches with history markers Though tons mountain bikers arrive anywhere between 5-9am which makes sleep at those times tough. Sporadic 3 bars of 5G on weekends and late nights on weekdays but mostly 1-3 bars of LTE which actual itself was enough to stream videos inside the van. Trash piles up from guests so PLEASE REMOVE TRASH Mr. Boy Scout to be cleaner than you when you arrived There is a history marker about this location being a former dump now made into a park

Nice large parking at the trailhead.
The police showed up at 9pm evicting at least 3 RV on the upper part of the park. We were at more than 8 RV in the lower trail head parking who didn't get evicted. I suggest parking near the trail map.

They're sadly cracking down on this place :( Woke up late Monday night to cop sirens, police lights and cops on a megaphone telling everyone we needed to leave and that sleeping there is a misdemeanor. Wouldn't recommend risking sleeping here anymore.

Great spot. Quiet. Good views and amazing trails for a morning hike. Right on the edge of town. Probably the best spot around if you want to be near town, but not worry about a knock in the night.

Multiple recyclable dumpsters to use when you pull in, to the right, although no trash dumpsters. Very beautiful and clean place, let’s keep it that way!

Report Check-In

This is city owned and they now prohibited overnight parking. A police officer explained the situation and politícelo asked everyone on the lot to not overnight park.

Mixed results-
We stayed here three nights surrounded by a TON of other vans/campers/skoolies. The good spots fill up around 6/7 on the weekend, but there are bigger parking lot areas as well that have plenty of room. Excellent T-Mobile service.
BUT on our fourth evening we got a knock from the police at 6pm informing us camping is not allowed and that we needed to leave by 9ish. We had heard through the grapevine that they come every three days or so to clear people out.
Definitely worth a shot though. One of few options this time of year.

Great safe place. Many other RV. No service.

Awesome free spot super close to town. Lots of bikers and rigs. Great views and very quiet at night.

mecca for boondockers near sedona, lots of room, lots of neighbours from all over the world, highly recommended.

Great spot! Lots of spots. beautiful views. Pretty flat road was pretty rutty in spots but room to maneuver. Would stay again. great Verizon reception. Quiet.

Solid place, stayed for three nights and was plentiful. Potholes to enter are massive though.

Great spot. Many other campers on a Friday night. Like the last post said, go further than maps takes you to the open lot. It looks like the original poster’s location is down for maintenance or habitat protection. The road in has serious potholes but I took it slow and was fine.

Report Check-In

Many of the lots have cones and signs now prohibiting "unauthorized use" as it's city property. A bit further down the road there is a large lot which I stayed in overnight without any problems

Great spot. Go a little bit further than the maps takes you and you’ll find a big, even dirt lot. There were half a dozen other campers but it was super quiet. Super close to town. If you’re lucky, you’ll see the hot air balloons launch at sunrise!

Report Check-In

Really beautiful views and lots of different spots to park. Many people camping through the night. Pretty trafficked early in the morning and a bit after sunset. Dirt lot and the paved road to get up the hill is pretty bad. Only con was mice came into the van overnight :( beware!

Report Check-In

Bunch of spots available, staying a couple nights here definitely peaceful though there were quite a few people staying the night. Even was clean which is always a plus with doggos no glass or anything like that.
