Wow, this spot was amazing, I stayed for 2 marvelous nights, saw some pilot whales and bald eagles, enjoyed the beautiful sunsets and sunrises and was able to stargaze.
If you don’t have a lot of ground clearance you can drive offset from the tracks, I was also able to turn around on the plateau (Dodge Caravan), but due to some rain the drive up was bit tricky and I was sliding a bit, but I made it up with 2WD.
You should be there quite early in the afternoon to secure that spot.

très belle endroit tranquille place pour un installation

Like every comment, this place is amazing. Such beautiful landscape, completely alone in nature. Didn’t see any whales unfortunately, maybe too early for the season.

Only downside, once the night comes the wind comes with it & it’s a really strong wind! Prepare to feel like you are in washing machine…

Awesome spot! I felt it was too narrow to back my Sprinter down there, it was somewhat overgrown on one side and the wind was making me nervous (I’m 11’4”) , but I couldn’t believe it was available on a Saturday night. Definitely worth the drive for this gem!

The history (below is more info to search) is quite sad but it gives this place even more depth within all its beauty.

This is one of the most unique and amazing spots you can stay for free I would say! I enjoyed a quiet night here with amazing views. A concrete level parking spot with room really for just one unless you know each other, you might get two smaller rigs down there. Very good cell service...3 bars LTE with Telus.

What a spot! So happy we decided to pull off and stay here. Easily fits 2 vans and the driveway in is short and easy drive in,back out/ back in,drive out.

Report Check-In

spectacular views. room for one cargo van max. just a lil pullout on the side of the road. Definitely worth the drive.

MUST GO ! make the detour to get there i swear you wont regret it . it was just amazing . the view is unbelievable . room for 1 or 2 van . so be there early .

One of the craziest spot ive done! Wonderful view without noise but a bit of wind, place for one camper thats it! One spot to add to your list for sure!

The place of a lifetime! If it’s not windy AhHaha

We had a very calm evening with a sunset and a quiet night, in the morning the wind started and it’s true that’s your car will shake. But still, the view is beautiful!

Report Check-In

As described. Great spot. Path down is subtle, missed it the first time.

Be careful for metal anchors in the cement pad.

Great Place with a great view. It feels like you will fall down the cliff into the ocean you are so close

One of the memorable spots I have had in 10 years travaling the Americas. Beautiful cliff and view. Also VERY windy, but that's part of why I'm gonna remember this spot.
Feels like boondocking on Shutter Island.

Stayed here one night in my hatchback. Beautiful spot, but didn’t see any whales. I did learn more about the spot from a local though! Google “Hippy Jim’s Castle in Capstick Nova Scotia” and you’ll find it has a sad tale. The history of the spot may sway some one way or the other in wanting to stay there.

Great place by the ocean juste like mention don’t go there if it’s stormy the wind and rain will be crazy. Over all good spot

Found this place by accident just driving by. Had a campfire overlooking the ocean with a beautiful sunset. A significant wind/rain storm started at about 2am which left dog and I retreating to the vehicle and having to quickly take down my tent before it got blown away. Quiet for the most part except for locals riding their dirt bikes up and down the road above until pretty late at night. Otherwise it was a great spot with beautiful views. Lots of fishing boats going by as well.

Magnificent view! Definitely one of the best views I've ever got at an overnight spot.
BUT if it gets really windy, you won't get a lot of sleep. I usually don't mind the wind, but my Minivan was shaking all night...it was dark tho and nobody bothered.

NO BIG RIGS!! honestly, if you plan to go down here with anything bigger than a Van, do yourself a favour and WALK down first to check out if you really think you want to turn around here...there is not a lot of space, so only one vehicle can fit.

i checked out the other spot 2 mins south of this one (towards capstick). it is just a dirt road pull-off but the views are amazing and it is easy access.

Report Check-In

Unbelievable view. But someone left a pile of their garbage. Ruined it, so we left. Hopefully it gets cleaned up for the next visitor. I would not go down in anything bigger then a van.

Stayed one night, everything as described. Millions dollar spot/view. No problem turning around on the concrete slab with out 18 feet Promaster. Just backed it up in between the 2 concrete raised footings, 5 point turn.

Report Check-In

Great view but super small and directly on the side of the road.. I personally would not stay here. There seem to be lots of road side pullouts in the highlands that don’t have signs so if this is your style you will have lots of choices. I went further up the road to the beach parking spot instead and think it is a way better spot!

Report Check-In

Pretty gorgeous spot on a sunny day. Million dollar views, all for free! 🤩 Level concrete pad with space for one van/small rig. You’re hidden enough from the road above so it’s quite private. The road is dusty but didn’t blow down to us. You can hear the road noise but you can hear the soothing ocean too so it’s worth it. Once it’s dark, it is very quiet and peaceful.

Report Check-In

Just as described by the previous visitors. we absolutely loved this spot!

Report Check-In

We stayed two nights and wind was minimal over both days but as long as not gail force should be ok, you are just exposed to wind on side of mountain. We did see whales swimming below us plus the lobster fishermen clearing their traps. Whats not to like about this spot. Best of the ones by the side of the road. On the beach in Meat Cove would be another option almost as perfect.

Report Check-In

Position A or fantastic camp site on the foundation of an old lighthouse. Panoramic views of the ocean and surrounding coves. Probably one of my favorite top 10 campsites of all time. Very private with your own ocean patio. Short hilly bike ride to Meat Cove.

Report Check-In

one of the best spots I've been to. nice concrete pad. Looks like maybe it was a lighthouse or something. no wind when we stayed. absolutely beautiful. fishing boats woke me up around 5am though lol. no one bothered us. surprised on how much traffic there was though.

Report Check-In

If there is no wind, this spot is a 10/10. It has gorgeous 360 views overlooking the ocean with Meat Cove in the distance. However, If there is wind, this spot is a 1/10 - Plan on staying awake the whole night from the wind howling and your rig shaking. Smaller rigs only.

Nice place with view on the meat cove campground. Concrete platform at the level. We stayed one night. Yes indeed a lot of wind but nothing very serious. You must go ahead with your vehicle and out on the reverse.

Super Aussicht, total ruhig. Nur für Fahrzeuge mit 4x4. Liegt neben der Schottertstraße, Zufahrt abschüssig und tricky da feucht.

Report Check-In

Awesome little place with an amazing view of the ocean. Very windy couldn't pop the roof up. Big enough for Toyota Hilux or Defender size rigs. Level concrete platform.

Report Check-In

Nice small place. We only heard the whales breathing in the dark.
