Something not right?

Description

Really lovely place only a few minutes from the entrance to Volcan Tenorio where the famous Rio Celeste lives. $5 per person with bathrooms, shower, wifi, and probably electricity if you need it. The tent camping area is ~50 ft from the parking area but it was fine for us. Super quiet at night and tons of wildlife!

Very nice camping area in a grassy garden area. There were trees for us to hang our hammock tent. Kitchen area with sink and propane burner for the campers, plus bathrooms with hot shower. There is a restaurant but we cooked for ourselves. Short walk down the road and you can swim in the blue river water by the bridge. The wifi was very good. 5US pppn

So we tried to make it here... we made a wrong turn and went too far past it which resulted in us getting stuck on the mud farther down the road (spent the night on the road in the van). Luckily we were helped out by a very nice family there who had chains for our tires and we cannot thank them enough.

If you are looking for this place be very careful about going onto any roads that appear to be downhill and muddy. Do not go too much farther down the road then this site or Rio Celeste entrance.

Nice quiet place where we could stay for free and use the facilities. Our friends took a room and we stayed here one night in our small van. It seems that the road is new as it was paved till the end. So no 4WD needed anymore. We came from Katira.

Our Sprinter got a good workout getting here, bad steep roads for the last 12 Km. The place did not a have a single level area for us to park, no WiFi and no electricity nearby for us to use and they wanted to charge us $10 per person. Needless to say we left.
Another surprise and disappointment we found at the ticket booth to the Rio Celeste waterfall, after paying 1,000 Colones to park, entrance fee for Ticos was 800 Colones (about $1.50) but for for foreigners it was $12 USD!
It seems that ALL hikes in the area have a gate and a ticket booth, and none are inexpensive. A surprise after finding great waterfalls and hiking opportunities around the Uvita area, for free.

We loved this place. $5pp/night. 1 km to the Rio Celeste waterfall. The hike itself is about 4 km. It's a must see in our opinion. We splurged and had lunch at the restaurant at the hotel. It's by far one of the best meals We've had on this trip. Great wifi, cold showers and really friendly staff.

Camped in our truck at the parking lot. 5,000 Colones per vehicle. Cabins, rooms, restaurant, restroom showers, friendly staff. 800 meters from entrace to Parque Nacional Volcan Tenorio. Where to can hike to Rio Celeste.
