Close to Radium, various camping possibilities in the area for vehicles and tenting (crown land). Some areas have restricted access for vehicles but great for tenting. Many AtV trails in the area. No facilities.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Snow coverage is so weak that i decided I would go and have a look to see if accessible. Road is extremely icy in winter, couldn't make it up the hill in our sprinter (2wd) with K02 tires, eventually stopped and started sliding backwards down the hill. 4x4 wouldn't have helped since its on ice, uneless you have studded tires, don't go!
Report Check-InNice. Outstanding fast AT&T coverage. There's audible constant background noise from down the mountain (either highway noise or the giant mining operation or whatever it is). But nice otherwise. Several spaced out spots that are pretty open and fairly flat
Report Check-InNice spot above Radium Hot Springs. Several spots for RV, vans, cars and tents with fire pits. Some dirt but quiet place with very nice view. No services but good cell service
Report Check-Inplace tranquille. terrein sec et poussiereux nous somme 3 truck et beaucoup de place pour des tentes et d autre truck
Report Check-InBE AWARE. at the moment there is someone living neer the camping spot in a bleu tent. He was very loud al night and seemed to be on some kind of drugs. If you see the tent from the road i recommend sleeping at the spot a little up the road. Besides this lovely dark and quite spot.
Report Check-InGood spot, we were at least 5 for this night and it was still plenty of place left.
Report Check-InEpic view, dusty, quiet. Very good for tent campers as there are separate grassy areas cars are not allowed to enter
Report Check-InBump road, potholes, but we are a 21 ft camper and we made it up easy, just go slow. Very nice spot, got busy later at night. Heaps more campgrounds up the road by the lakes but we didn't dare to take the risk with our camper.
Report Check-InThe road in is very bumpy. Nearly got bogged when turning around on the logging road. There are a lot of boulders blocking off large parts of the camping areas. Not sure if this is new but we came mid week and it was hard to find a flat spot that wasn't already acquired by other campers. If you have a tent you would be absolutely fine. Very dusty!!!!
Report Check-InQuiet spot in an open field / crown land. A lots of coyote and deers.
Pit toilets near the bridge and lots of firewood available
AMAZING spot! Quiet, a couple of other camping cars, lots of fire pit, view on the mountains and we saw a lot of big horn sheep in the morning ! Stayed here one night but could’ve stayed longer
Report Check-InWe spent two nights there. The Friday night was quiet with a few campers. The second night was noisy with people coming at all times of the night. The view of valley is very nice. It was very dry and very dusty.
Report Check-InA few spots to park a camper, but great for tents you can camp right out on the ridge and see the whole valley. Was here on a saturday and there were 2 other campers so not too busy. Good hammock spots, pretty bad for mosquitoes though.
Report Check-InBeautiful spot but got pretty busy later that day. There were four other cars and one trailer around.
Report Check-InBeaucoup d’espace, déjà deux van en arrivant sur place. Endroit tranquille
Report Check-InArrive on a Friday afternoon and no one was around, there is a small road to your right when you pull in that leads to more secluded camp spots. By the evening this place was packed with vans, tents and other rvs. It’s sad and gross to see how much toilet paper is scattered all over the camping areas.... not even off in the woods. PLEASE CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF!!!
Report Check-InAwesome spot got up here in a 30ft class c motorhome rental. Roads super bumpy almost lost our microwave haha. Views are lovely had some beers on camp chairs out on the ridge very short walk. Would recommend
Report Check-Inlarge rocks have been placed on the road to block access to a large portion of the camp sites which now seem to be walk in only. there is still a large flat area/car park where you can stay the night. a caravan and two campervans there when we stayed the night.
Report Check-InGreat spot. Lots of different areas to park, level ground too. Great views if you keep to your right after pulling in ( attached photo ). Full cell service, quiet, and sheltered / Unsheltered spots. Would stay again.
Report Check-InDidn't like this spot. Everytime a vehicle went past on the road, a huge dust cloud blew across the site. The area away from the road has a nice view, but not accessible by vehicles. If you are vehicle based, you need to camp closer to the road. Maybe not so bad at night when the logging truck traffic dies down, but we didn't stay to find out.
Report Check-InGreat little spot - space for tents, as well as a handful of RVs/vans. Pretty flat. Nice view over the river just a short walk away. Places to have campfires. No bathrooms. This isn’t “sneaky camping” - you are allowed to camp here.
Report Check-InAbout 3km on gravel road outside Radium. It's a good spot and you get nice views when you walk around a bit. You can't really hide your Van beteeen trees for privacy but when we were there there were only two more campers which was fine. There is a parking lot with toilet down the hill at the river, which might be 1km on the gravel road out of Radium. Very good to stay a night close to the National Park.
Report Check-InTrès belle place très bien situé avec une belle vue sur la montagne et la ville
Report Check-InNice area on a hill with plenty of parking and a nice area for tents. The dirt road has lots of pot holes but if you drive slow, it’s not too bad. Public toilets are near the bridge crossing to the right of the bridge which is just before the camp spot. Seems a bit isolated at first but we had two other campers set up and the dirt road right near has frequent traffic. Location is About 4ks from the town
Report Check-InNice open spot. Very quiet until the train comes in the morning. But it not til 7am not bad.
Report Check-Ineverything that is being said is true: 2wd no problem but ugly road, amazing view, kind of crowded but still enough space for everyone, in total an awesome place to stay for a few nights!
Report Check-InWe spent 2 excellent nights here. You have a 3km road with small holes but we did it with a basic car. You have a grass and dust space to park ~15 vehicles and then a huge grassy area to pitch many many tents. Fire pits, fire woods, nice views, many trees, not a lot of mosquitoes, very very quiet place. Recommended !!
Report Check-Innice spot! space for 5-10 Vans/RVs. pretty flat. road in has some sections that are more pothole than road, but it isn't bad -- more vibration than shaking your vehicle. clearance not necessary. super quiet until about 9am
Report Check-InThe road was doable for a 2wd, but it is full of potholes.
The place itself is nice, late afternoon and at night its quiet. In the morning there's trucks passing by.
It was very busy with other campers! Don't expect to be alone here in summer.
Good place to stay. We went there late(about 11:00pm), already have couple cars stay there too. Good view and not bad for stars. Quite and big.
Report Check-InIndeed a great spot! When driving towards it, coming from Radium HS, it all looks kind of sketchy(we arrived late evening) because you have to pass this big log factory and the road turns into a gravel road from there onwards. However, keep going and you'll find this lovely big camping spot up the hill. 2/3d of the area is indeed blocked by rocks so unable to reach by car, but perfect spots for a tent and lots of places for a bonfire.
Nice view, quiet nights (although you can hear the train from far away on the background) and just outside the Katoonay NP so no need to pay! Yay!
Recommend!
Report Check-InGreat location. We went a little farther down Red Rock Road. Plenty of options with fire pits and beautiful views and chirping birds
Report Check-InGood but dusty spot for the night. Traveling with RV, few level spots available. Nicest spots are accessible by foot w/ tent only.
Report Check-InEasy to find with the coordinates, amazing view and lots of spots for tenting but limited RV, get there early like we did to get first pick!
No facilities so plan accordingly :)
Amazing views, woke up to the sun pouring over the Rockies. Full reception for cellular service and just outside of town. This spot is just off of the FSR so there isn't much traffic noise.
Only downside is no toilets but that helps keep the place less busy.
Report Check-InAt first we couldnt find it. Follow the dirt road about 2 km to the left of the wood factory. Nice view but onlu a few RV sites. There was 1 other RV with a strange guy inside. Playing loud music in the middle of the night. Unlucky I guess. Furthermore nice place. Nice view.
Report Check-Ingreat spot. no service but free, the view is great, the night is quiet.
Report Check-InClose to Radium, various camping possibilities in the area for vehicles and tenting (crown land). Some areas restricted access with vehicles but great for tenting. Many Atv trails in the area. No facilities.
