Report Check-In

The gate is now close, no car can go for now.

Report Check-In

Tried to come and stay here while we played the disc golf course, the small road to get to the sites was shut and there is no other entrance. Later by the disc golf entrance there is a sign that says “park is closed to camping until further notice”. We were sad to see it, we thought it’d be a great place to stay!

Thanks, sportyclimber for the very concise directions. :) Nice spot on BLM land with a very good view. However, it’s steep and tight, so most motorhomes should not attempt it. B-vans and teardrop trailers should fit. However, there were a few tents holding camping sites without occupants (at least last night). So, it looks like the problem in Pioneer Park has moved to this location. Despite the squatters, it is very clean. This is a locals’ spot (in a good way), so perhaps town folks come around and pick up. There is noise but at night it is very quite with excellent stargazing. If you’re lucky enough to find an empty site, this is a memorable stay.

I live in the town of Hot Sulphur Springs and wanted to share that the campsites are no longer free, but fee based with a 14 day limit. HOWEVER, there is free BLM land not far from these campgrounds up a dirt road that is passable in summer, but can be sketchy during mud seasons and impassable in winter. The campground is only open Spring-Fall. Yes, there is a loud train that comes by several times a day, but it adds to the charm of the place :). Right along the CO river it is simply beautiful! There is a nice restaurant in town a two minute walk from the campground called The Dean Public House. Food is amazing and staff is super friendly! There is also a small liquor store a short walk from the campground as well that stays open until 10pm. The gas station in town is a good place to get water.

Sweet spot for hot spring access. Half park is closed in winter. Turn left at train tracks to enter open winter access. Popular with fisherman. River flowing across from sites.
Not quietest place but great spot to be near hot springs. 8am-10pm all day soaking for $20. They use all natural springs with no filtration so it has sediment, not dirty just natural.
Fire Ban in effect. Has picnic tables at each site.

Free campsite walking distance to Hot Springs Resort. ($20 per adult)

Report Check-In

Great place to camp for free by the river, occasional trains but not to bad.

Report Check-In

Several free camping designated places. You will also find some free places at the beginning of the track that leads to this point, just after the bridge. These spots are big rig friendly. The pittoilets were pretty clean. Not many trains passing. We heard only 2 in the night.
