Summer or when there is no snow on the roads. Sand flat free campsites more than 20 with fire rings and many big enough for big rigs. Quiet and deers on site
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Whoa! The final 8/10ths of a mile from the paved road to the campsites is b.r.u.t.a.l. We were in a 31' Class C and a Wrangler Toad. There are significant rocks and ruts on the path. Getting up and down without blowing a tire, puncturing a tank, or crapping my pants will forever be a major accomplishment in my RV driving history. This is NOT NOT NOT NOT (get the picture) recommended for any rigs larger than a 15-passenger van.
Report Check-InBeautiful meadow with view of Mt. Shasta in the upper sand flats. Lots of open camping
Report Check-InRoad to meadow is still coveted in snow, we went down and found a campsite at the group camping site about 200 yds down the road from Sand Flat road
Report Check-InWe stayed at the upper sand flat (couldn’t accurately locate the gps coordinates for the pullout) but it’s under the same name, just almost at the top of the hill.
At the upper sand flat, there is a large flat concrete area to park, along with a turnout. The road is fairly peaceful.
The best part is the killer view of mount shasta!! And verizon service.
The lower sand flats area is down the mountain in the trees. Looked very nice but I prefer the upper with the views.
Free,Dry, wild camping in amongst big trees. Dusty, shady, and peaceful.
