Description

We stayed here after the place across the road said we were not allowed to camp unless we also bought a scenic flight. Such greed. Se we decided to try Gecko camp and it was exactly what I was looking for. We stayed in a safari tent for 800 per night, hot water is by a donkey and you have to make the fire yourself. The rooms are clean, comfortable and private. The views are astounding. You can get here in a 2x4 vehicle or motorcycle. Beautiful place in a stunning area. Wild , but if you are looking for 5 star this is not the place for you. Camp site available, areas for braai and drinking water from the taps. Flush loos. No electricity at sites. Wifi at reception. Great! Camping is 220pppn for on top of hill. They have a wild camp spot on the farm too- 5km away but 4x4 needed

Lovely campsite. Just be aware te wind can be quite strong, especially if using a tent. It's not as strong down by the communal area, and if you don't mind missing it on the views (which you can still walk up to see any time, and network is only available up there), it even costs less.

We had a great stay at Camp Gecko with a beautiful view from the Eagle Campsite. The price at 220 NAD pppn is well worth it. They have a nature oriented eco friendly camp. You are allowed to take a cooldown bath in their pond without any chemicals but some fish. They have some tables at the farm and a (rather slow but functional) WiFi connection. Their water is from their own drillhole and you are able to drink it.

We can highly recommend the grill package. It comes prepacked (in tupperware) ready for you to put on the grill. We even had some leftovers because it was so much. We were allowed to choose between zebra oryx springbok and kudu. The zebra and oryx steak and oryx and kudu sausages we had tasted super juicy and delicious and the side dishes we also great. The open air ablutions were clean and you even had a great view while sitting on the toilet.

The communication with the owners was very straightforward and uncomplicated. We also had a chat with them regarding the farm and their rather new sheep in the evening which we very much enjoyed.

Beautifull place, very welcoming, Anna & Bjorn are delightfull, Tent camp was cleaned on arrival, with amazing view from bedroom upstairs, private outdoor bathroom with shower, toilet & basin, very good value & short distance from Sossusvlei. Highly recommended. Big Rig friendly.

All the above. You really don’t want to miss the bathroom experience with a gorgeous view. Highly recommended.

beautifully located camp with stunning view over the lower plains at all three campsites. Showers warm and clean, toilets flushing and clean. 200 N$ per night per per person. The special offer ( second night free) is applicable for the tented camp only (we did not try but it looked new and pretty good as well). Very friendly owners. If you call ahead they can make you fresh bread or prepare a breakfast or diner in the Lappa.

Björn and Anna a fantastic hosts. When we arrived all campsites where occupied, but we could camp next to one of the camps. The view to the plain and the waterwheel was beautiful. You also can do some hikes or drive around the farm. We once had breakfast in the „Lapa“ and this was very, very delicious. Anja and Björn try to be as self-sufficient as possible and we really like their approach. They took over the place in September 2019 and improved a lot. It is one of these places where you feel at home.
For long-term travellers they have a special offer - the second night is free of charge. Thank you guys!

We stayed at eagles camp with amazing views over the valley and savanna, beautiful colours and sunset. There is a waterhole and we saw zebra's and springbok and we even heard there are cheetahs in the are! The outdoor shower and toilet are great! There is a shelter to protect you from the sun but it doesn't totally block the sun and it can be a bit windy in the afternoon, at night no wind. Very friendly owners who also did a lot of traveling in Africa! Long time travelers get the second night for free.

If you like amazing views and funky ablutions, don't look any further! Björn and Anna are wonderful hosts, they'll make you feel at home right away. All three campsites on the hill have gorgeous views. Eagle and moonlight campsite have funky ablutions, hilltop campsite has a little ablution block. Shade on the campsites created by covers with shade nets. No electricity at campsites. A lot of privacy, as the campsites are far from eachother.

Beautiful camp with great view. From Eagle Campsite we enjoyed a spectacular sunset. Large sites with much space and distance to the next one and private ablutions. The German owners welcomed us warmly. Highly recommended.

What a beautiful place! There are new owners now. They started just 2 weeks ago. Anna en Björn from Germany run the place. They are a lovely couple! They travelled through Africa for 19 months so they know what travellers need. They were so welcoming and so friendly to us!

Each campsite has a private toilet, sink, shower, picknicktable, shelter and braaiplace. No electricity at the campsites. At the Eagle Camp and Moonlight Camp you have a toilet/shower with a beautiful view! Stunning! Ablutions are spotless!

Prices for the 4 campsites near the main house (orange campsite) N$120,- pppn. For the 3 campsites at the hill and the wildspot N$ 200,- pppn. They also rent 2story Bush-hide-away tents & triple story: N$520,- pppn. Bush tents: N$470,- pppn. Family unit (2 Huys with 2 beds each - sleeps 4): N$420,- pppn.

There is a Lapa where you can buy cold drinks, breakfast & dinner. Also wood & braaipacks for sale at the main house. And fast WiFi at the main house.

There is a pool, they are cleaning it now. So you can swim very soon! On the land are a couple of trails you can walk: zebratrail (4-5 hours walk) and the adventure trail (1 hour walk).
