Description

t appears the place is closed (not 100% sure). We were there at 5pm (01/13/2021) and couldn't find a living soul. Asked around and no one could give us a definitive answer as to weather it is open. There is no gate so you have access to the grounds per se which seem somewhat kept up. We didn't stay as this is definitely a private property.

A nice and authentic balneario on the lake with clear waters and sand bottom (no mud). They charge 250 pesos a night to camp in your RV. The parking is 10 meters from the shore and offers great views of the lake, especially when the sun rises. You can also rent cabañas and they have kayaks. I much prefer it here than in Bacalar which has lost some of it's Mexican feel.

The place is open, beautiful, quiet during the week, well maintained, and Javier is very nice and friendly. Also for big rigs. Good for swimming and relaxing.

Report Check-In

Very nice spot to camp brvause of the kner to waist deep fresh water for the first 100m off the shore. Javier runs this place for bit more then a year and is working to bring even more improvements.

Amazing sunrise and very calm lake in the mornings. 150m walk to playground, restaurant, showers and toilets. A couple of palapas with mosquito net and electricity. Italian made wood oven pizza from Thursday to Sunday. On weekends Mexican families come for Pic Nic.

Report Check-In

Wonderful camping place. Sorry we didn’t have more time to spend here.

Report Check-In

quite place, friendly staff, clear water, safe, beautiful nature, some birds, snakes.
price per car 250peso, tent 150 peso
toillets are clean.

Report Check-In

10 meters to the beautiful lake with a grassy area. The showers/are 200 meter away. For washing the dishes it's kind of annoying.
You will share the place with the locals families (up to 10 people). Everyday when we were there they drink beer, and make there own picnics. So they were also loud. I ask Javier to change that, he said yes but don't do anything withing 4-5 days. (The whole area is big enough)
Don't forget you pay 250 p.V. and they pay 20p.P.
We like the opportunity to hang our hammocks in trees, the pretty clean place and there are benches to use. If you want to stay longer come with your own food. Next real opportunity to buy stuff is in town Bacalar (30 min drive).
Annoying mosquitoes at sunrise and sunset as usual.

Report Check-In

Stayed just one night because we needed WiFi or Cellphone range- and there is nothing! The water for a swim was beautiful; I'm agree with the others..it's pretty buggy while/after sunset

Report Check-In

The Beach is wonderful with white sand. You can walk out for 100 meters in the lake. Wie had electricity, but you must have a long extension. The Pizza is delicious (only weekend). Very friendly owner. Weekends are crowded.

Report Check-In

Very charming and relaxed place. Nice staff.
Price was too high for me: 250mxn for the rv.
im alone and have toilets and shower onboard.
If you only need a place to park like me, I recommend parking in the street right above, in front of the church, for free, and paying 30mxn to access the campground facilities...

Report Check-In

It's a perfect spot if you want to enjoy the lake of bacalar! It's beautiful and super quiet. The owner Javier is super nice and super helpful. We went to bacalar afterward and we liked it way more in Buenavista!

Report Check-In

Waow. Un place calme paisible magnifique tenue par une personne très sympathique. Que demander de mieux ? 250 pesos la nuit par véhicule. Wc douche eau. Toboggan jeux enfants resto bar. L endroit nous a charmé. Un de nos endroits préférés.

Was only going to spend one night here but didn’t want to leave! Ended up staying two. Javier was extremely kind and really made our stay even more special. He invited us to have coffee with him in the morning and a michelada with him in the afternoon. He even drove us around the town for a tour and took us to a local party that was being held in the town for some delicious lunch. All of which he did not charge for though his nightly rate has raised to 250/nt. The palapas and dock are are all new-ish and in great condition. The sand bottom of the lake is more sandy and less like the mud closer to bacalar. There are no rocks in between the docks which makes it great for wading out and relaxing in the water. The bathrooms and showers are clean and well kept. They have an Italian partner of the property that makes napolitano style pizzas in the brick oven! Though he was gone while we were staying. Highly highly recommend

Spent 3 nights in a van with 2 people for 600 peso’s. We haven’t met Javier but the woman working there from 9 to 5 is also friendly. The lake is beautiful and really nice for a swim. They rent kayaks as well - we paid 150 peso’s for 2 single kayaks (1hour). Really nice place to relax😌. Busy in weekend as a lot of locals come to cool down, we didn’t mind. No wifi. Restaurant only open in weekend (not really sure). Bathrooms are clean.

Report Check-In

What a wonderful and peace full place. Javier is an amazing host. He took care of me and my boyfriend show us around. You have the lake only for yourself. The sunrise is a hell of thing there. It’s full of birds and also there is a botanical garden where you can have a walk. Paid 75$ per tent and per night.

Report Check-In

Nice camping on the shore. There are clean bathrooms, a restaurant and a place to wash the dishes. Javier is a great host. He is planning to install wifi and electricity at sites.

Report Check-In

This is a really nice place to go if you want to kayak in this pristine laguna. Really nicer than the places we stayed in Bacalar. Plus Javier (and his dog Ulysse Pulgis) are good reasons to come there too. A really friendly and interesting guy making his best to let you feel comfortable!

Report Check-In

We normally look for free places, but this was a great spot for 200 pesos/van, knowing we would be the only ones here for the night. Clean toilets and showers, and easy access to the lake from 2 piers. Very quiet...only hear a few birds and the waves lapping.

Report Check-In

Nice place to camp. We only paid 200 pesos for 2 adults and 2 kids
Beautiful sunrise and clear water
Javier the owner is really friendly and take care of us

Report Check-In

This is a fantastic place with a very friendly and helpful host, Javier. He helps you in every matter, and you can also reng kayaks here. We had a broken plastic part (air-con shall on the roof), that was repaired in excellent quality by Jose, a guy that works here, in the camping.
The lake is amazing!
Showers are ready and a place to wash the dishes is on the way.
We paid 200/night.

Report Check-In

Great spot as described. Javier is a great host! It gets moderately busy during the day in the weekend, but in the evening you are alone. 200 pesos for our 21ft motorhome. Clean bathroom facilities and clean area overall. Kayak rental 75 pesos per hour. No wifi, but one palapa has a tiny bit of telcel connection for those urgent matters. Great for dogs. Stayed two nights.

Warm welcome from Javier (English & Spanish). No problem to enter with Class A 40 '. 300 pesos / night without services and it's great! Please do not ask to be connected to electricity to operate your air conditioning ...no equipped for that here . Flat location with beautiful views of the laguna. Clean and quiet site. Showers, toilets, restaurant, kayak. Beautiful to swim. Excursion available. 25 minutes from Bacalar.

Report Check-In

Stayed for two nights with a 22“ RV. Stunning place directly at the shore. The water is comparable to the Maledieves. Javier the host speaks english and is very helpful with any request. No power at sites, no wifi (we would have stayed longer with Internet conn). 350p per night.

Report Check-In

As mentioned before; place has a new owner, Javier, and he has been putting a lot of work in cleaning and restoring this beautiful spot. It really shows! For 200p (two people) you get clean toilets and showers, camper parking on the grass and swimming in a beautifully clear laguna. Recommended!

Report Check-In

Bien accueilli par Javier le propriétaire qui parle un bon anglais. 100 mxn/adulte au bord de la lagune. Beau site tranquille. Les sanitaires étaient en travaux mais propres. Eau et électricité possible.

Report Check-In

Javier welcomed us in our large RV. We were a little concerned about the drive way in, as it was quite steep and a little rough, but dropped it in low and took it easy. Theres enough room for large RV, I think a trailer would find it tricky though.

It is very beautiful and the water to swim in is fantastic! We were only set to stay 1 night, but decided to stay two! Javier is very enthusiastic about showing the property and telling about all the renovations he plans to get done. but little by little its getting there. There is no food here yet (but coming soon), there is a few convience stores nearby but very limited. This is a rural village and very authentic, a must for anyone camping or van dwelling. There isnt a proper water or electric hook up yet, but Javier can help if it is possible, he will try to get it for you. There is no dump here just FYI.

Report Check-In

The run down feel is a thing of the past. It is very clean and well taken care of. FYI: No telcel reception and still no wifi. Very beautiful sunrises. Still $100p/p.

Report Check-In

Beautiful place! Dog friendly, great for kids. The water is incredible and it’s super quiet at night. Owner Javier is very nice gave a great dinner recommendation for the town of Bacalar.

Report Check-In

Javier was the nice guy running the show when we arrived. it's a bit run-down but a great spot on the lake and friendly locals. 100pp.

Report Check-In

The place is quiet and just by the water. The lagoon is quite shallow and crystal clear with sandy bottom when there is no wind. There are water slides to enjoy. Now the owner is repairing bathrooms and showers. It should be quite a nice place when the repairs finish. They have a restaurant on site but when we stay there the chef is on annual leave so did not try the food. Now without shower it’s 170pesos for 2. And you can get a cabaña with mosquito nets around to hang hammock or sit in.

Report Check-In

It's a very nice place to stay.
The new owner is very friendly.
It's very clean now and they curently improve the showers.
The official price is 200p per night.
We negotiate 170p because showers are not finish.
Enjoy

Place is now run by Alejandro, who is working with the locals of Buena Vista to improve the campground. The place has been cleaned up, they plan to make improvements to the bathroom and to put in showers. We initially met Mauricio (who is there during the week) and were told 160 per night. Alex got there on the weekend and rate went up to 200. It’s worth the price if you’re looking for a more relaxing atmosphere.

Report Check-In

Very nice place, perfect with young kids.
The owner was very friendly and give us electricity

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Beautiful place but full of trash / broken glass from the week end and nobody was taking care of them. Restrooms / showers very dirty too. Lack of maintenance in general. The lady asked 200, we bargained at 150 and stayed one night. She refused to go down to 100 for the next night. We headed further.

Report Check-In

We stopped at this location to check it out. It’s has a large green area and access straight to the lake. Has a restaurant and kayaks. We decided not to stay, the bathrooms were not clean, no internet because of the wind and cold showers. 200 pesos negotiated per night per camping. It was nice, but not convincing to stay.

Report Check-In

We arrived at 1400 and the lady here asked for 500 pesos for 2 nights. Told us to come back at 1600 when another lady with more information would be here. When we came back they asked for $200 pesos a night. We tried for 100 pesos but they wouldn't do 100 so we settled at 150mxn per night. Apparently the town is voting in 10 days on if this family will continue running the Balenario or if Paul will take over. So I think they are trying to get everything out of it while they can.

Report Check-In

great place. Paid 100 pesos for the camper.

still 100pesos a night per rig. Beautiful lake and fun slide. The woman who runs the not really place is very nice and super helpful. She has a woman who will do your laundry for a very reasonable price and return it to you within the day. Bathrooms are okay.. definitely not great and a little ways away from the campsite. There are kayaks that you can rent also. Make sure you stock up on food before arriving.

Report Check-In

I arrive at mid nigth it was a very good place for set up the tent. I wake up early because I have to keep going but the view was amazing when the sunrise it was free because nobody was there when I move.

Report Check-In

Spent one afternoon and night here, nice place. We had it all for ourselves from 8 pm until 10 am.
Paid 10 pesos / person for the entrance in the balneario, 100 pesos for two person staying in a car and 100 pesos for one person staying in a tent.
The parking lot in which you stay when you sleep in your car is indeed spoilt by trash and mosquitoes.

A Great little hideaway camping is in front of the mangroves alongside Laguna Bacalar in Buenavista a small Mayan community of about 600 people . The Balneario has a restaurant with fish and shrimp dishes along with beer available . There is a stone house atop the hill that has rooms for rent would you need time away from camping and she also cooks meals and has kayaks and Bikes for rent . Paul at Paddle Bacalar is 100 yards farther on the road camping is on and offers a great kayak tour of the pristine side of the lagoon , if you don't know how he is an excellent teacher with the best of equipment for 500 pesos . There are many birds to see from your campsite so keep your eyes open . I wish the Balneario would turn down their music and clean up the trash a little better , so if you stay there please suggest just that . So there is a place for generations to enjoy . The restrooms are in near of some tlc.

Spectacular views. Fantastic place for kids. We went on a great stand up paddle board trip across the lake. There is a Canadian expat that lives about 100 meters from the camp who gives the tours. 500 MXN per adults. Kids were free. Our 5 yr old sat on our board but our 7 yr old learned how to paddle and had his own board. Paul's very passionate & informative about the lake. He's also trying to clean up the rubbish that is around the campsite.

Report Check-In

100 pesos per night per rig. Bucket flush toilets. Trash at the edge of the woods, very busy on Sunday.

Awesome spot though, 100 pesos makes it well worth it. No internet or cell service. Not much in town, but only about 30 min from Bacalar.

Walk to the end of the road and find Paul the red bearded Canadian for an awesome paddle board tour of the lake. $500 pesos for two people. Great way to spend three hours on the water.

Report Check-In

Small docks jut into shallow, sandy bottom water. A couple of little slides into the clear water, small playground and a few palapas with screens you could also rent if the mosquitos were bad (they were just average for a few hours at dusk during our stay, certainly bearable). There's a small restaurant open until 6pm. Bathrooms are in terrible shape, no running water but maybe they have it during the day when the restaurant is open. No cell reception or wifi. The grass parking lot was full of trash, looks like they dump it at the forest's edge and dogs pick and drag it around. Otherwise, very serene and beautiful. A party in the distance could be heard, and freeway traffic, but nothing too loud. If they'd put a bit of effort in it could really be an astounding place but at 100p per vehicle (no extra charge for our kids or per person), felt like a great deal.
