Description

After a long road through marshland you get to the lighthouse. We parked at the back of the old buildings near the trashcans. There is a beautiful view. There are some protected areas so camping is no problem.

Great spot—so much water all around, birds, fishermen… vast tide changes… long bumpy road to get here.

Report Check-In

The dogs are super friendly and won't say no to a snack. Did not stay as it was weekend and there were also locals. Interesting but not a wild camping spot.

Report Check-In

what a drive out here, so many birds! the road is washboard but just take it slow in those spots. we felt safe at the warf & even met someone who's been camping here for years that said it was safe. old buildings & people living there. there are 4 dogs, 2 of them ran over when they saw our dog. they were quite persistent to sniff her which she didn't appreciate so just keep that in mind if you are bringing a dog out here. otherwise, beautiful sunrise & sunset.

Report Check-In

Pretty cool. Major washboards coming in. Some rather tough looking dogs running freely...

Nice spot for overnight.a lot of birds. we fish in the morning

Report Check-In

Beautiful sunset and sunrise, but really not my preferred spot for an overnight, I like privacy and seclusion. We stayed on Monday night and there were vehicles and locals rolling in and out all hours of the night. If you’re a light sleeper, prepare for 5:30am wake-up when all the fisherman start. The marsh is worthwhile checking out, beautiful wild life!! The road was alright, only took us 10 mins on the washboard. There seems to be four dogs that bark and run at you now. We were only campers. Make sure you don’t park where they put in the boats (beside the ruins).

Amazing spot on the water! Beautiful drive through the marshlands, incredible views of the sand dunes across the water on arrival. Took 20 minutes or so from the west end of Guerrero Negro. Washboard road made for a bumpy ride but well worth it. Dry camping with strong telcel service. Fishermen cleared out around sun down, only two other rigs here for the night and very quiet. Thanks for sharing this unique spot, iOverlander community!

We slept here in our sprinter. Very quiet at night, lots of fisherman in the morning, so you might wake up early, but they were all very friendly :). Beautiful sunset And sunrise on the dunes!
Nice fishing, lot of wind in the evening. Good cell reception.

Expect more than 45min in 2wd van when you take that road to go to the old ward. Be prepared for some wind too but maybe it was the season. Nice sleep.

great spot!! We cooking and Washing the dishes here. we stay one night. it is very safe and quite.

Nice spot, active with fishermen by day, quiet at night. Incredible to birds here and good walking.

Report Check-In

Camped down in the old salt factory ruins away from the light house. We arrived just after dark and drove around the lighthouse and the vehicle was chased by 2 barking dogs. Amazing sunset and sunrise with an uneventful night.

Report Check-In

Overall we enjoyed hanging out here for one night in our camper van. Lots of locals until dusk. Great sunset, bird watching, and WOW the sunrise best so far driving south from Oregon. This might get be the “party spot; we were grateful just one car blasting music from 11:0 the l midnight.

Report Check-In

nice quiet location with good views 360 degrees. no whales as of this date seen by us. lots of birds. no services . But 3 cell phone bars!

Report Check-In

A really beautiful location in the middle of the bay. We caught a spectacular sunset on one side of us and are looking forward to catching a sunrise on the opposite side of the bay. Only a few people camping here and a few local fishermen.

Report Check-In

Stayed here often. Watch out for needles and turds. The drive through Scammon's Lagoon is worth the visit to see the birds. I rescued a fisherman who backed down too far to launch his boat. 5:00 a.m. spinning tires. Very satisfying because we did the whole thing without communicating. We both knew what to do. Porta potties now available on site.

Report Check-In

Lovely peaceful place. Seemed to have a security guy around the buildings overnight, but we didn't speak to him. No facilities. Free.

Report Check-In

The site is flat, quiet and secluded with good cell service. Although the road in is passable by 2WD or big rigs, the 7 mile trek out there is covered with corrugations and might not be worth it for one night.

Report Check-In

Old ward and light house at the end of the causeway to a pier where there is potential to see whales. Sand dunes across water on other side

Report Check-In

There is a reason why we are able to free camp. Most of us are quiet and don't cause a disturbance. Unlike the rave that is happening right now. This site may not be available much longer. A 30 plus foot long bus traveling with a beat up Class C and a van are making more noise that any night club I have ever heard. This is why free camping is frowned on and RV travelers are pushed into pay sites where there are rules. The family that lives nearby must be thrilled.

Everything that can be said has been in previous posts. My dog and 2 indoor cats are in Paradise. Road is not bad just don't speed and enjoy the views. 3 bars of LTE Internet.

Report Check-In

We stayed in our tent and it was fine. Amazing sunset. Dolphins chasing fish up onto the beach was cool. 3 other vans staying the night.

Report Check-In

As described. We spoke with the family that cleans the oyster cages and they said no problems sleeping here. Parked next to old salt building. Enjoyed talking with a couple of the fishermen. Nice quiet night. While the place is unorganized and dirty, take your trash with you. There are porta potties.

Report Check-In

Quiet spot e the night, near Gro. Negro. The road is was just fine. Perhaps it was recently grated, because we didn't notice much washboarding. Just a bit. Cool old ruins of an old Salt factory. A family lives there, so be respectful and give them a little space and clean up after yourself. Enjoy the beautiful sunset and bird watching. No generators please.

Report Check-In

Very nice place. Road isn't too bad at all, just some washboard. The marshland is a birders paradise!
We stayed right at the very tip, talked to the friendly guy living there and helped the fishermen to haul out their boat. Clam seekers at low tide, lots to see...

Report Check-In

Very different from the rest of the country side. Access through a long dirt road.
Many fishermen were there on a Saturday. One of the guy living there even offered us some oyster!
We didn’t stay for the night because it was too windy.

Report Check-In

Feels like the end of the world.
Really nice, very friendly people, they even offered us oysters!
Did not stay for the night, to windy the day we went.
The road is a bumpy Mexican dirt road.

Report Check-In

We are in a Chevy Express Van and although the road was bumpy it wasn't bad at all. Beautiful views of the salt marshes on the ride out - if you take a left before getting to the wharf there is a restaurant with beach huts - we drove past for a look but didn't eat. Loads of birds. Cool that they have made osprey nesting platforms on poles - we saw the bests but no osprey yet. Lots of fishermen as people have stated - doesn't seem to be an issue that we are here.

Report Check-In

Nice place. Very quiet at night. The dirt road is in good shape, little washboard.
We saw three gray whales with their babies passing really fast in the canal. Pretty close.

Report Check-In

The only concern is that the place is too wet (end of November) and during the night we were surrounded by mud. Great place for sunset and fishing.

Report Check-In

The way to get thete isn’t very nice but no problems for a 2WD car. There were some fishermen that came before sunset and at sunrise, but besides that, its a very quiet place. Lovely views, we staied just for a night.

Report Check-In

Route très difficile pour un camping car mais faisable.Au bout d'une digue, près d'un phare et de pêcheurs. Beaucoup d'oiseaux. Pas très propre mais calme.

Report Check-In

Nice place to stay for a night. Directly on the ocean behind the ruins of the old warf. A fisherman lives close but didn't say anything, in the morning he drove by and waved. Lots of birds around and quiet at night. Close to Guerrero Negro.

Report Check-In

awesome road to get there (not in good shape) totally okay for 2WD but need to drive slow due to the bumps. didnt stay the night as it was too windy but its pretty and seems remote to be that close to guerrero negro!

Report Check-In

Busy with many fisherman but most leave before dark. we were presented with a massive show from the milky way and slept very well. Not a spot to stay and relax though as many come and go all day long.

Report Check-In

The road from G Negro (the ATM) to here is approx 11 km/7 miles. The wide road is firm but rough at times. Driving slow will solve the shaking. No need for 4x4 or clearance. When you are able to make your own windbraker and shadow you will find the greatest spots here. We stayed for 2 nights. Quiet and peaceful.
