Something not right?

Description

Just at the south end of town 300m past the last houses there is a small bay/sand beach that is popular among surfers. There are flat spots to park any sized vehicle right at the beach. Popular spot among surfers (there is a good beach break). No apparent owner, no one bothered us. There were two other vechiles there that stayed multiple nights.

Not free anymore. Sometimes in the past 6 weeks a sign went up indicating it’s private property and camping is $10USD. First it seems quite steep considering there is nothing but a beach , and secondly, maybe I’m wrong but I was under the impression that beaches are federal land and therefore free.
Within 15 minutes of our arrival some guy came by wanted to collect money, I told him we weren’t camping but just to surf today, he didn’t ask for anything for day use.

Perfect beach camping. Stayed a few nights here and had no problems. Few other campers the first night and then we were by ourselves. Fire pits and dry wood around to build fires. Surfer the point break and then the jetty on the other side of town. El Cactus has great food and lovely service. Showers also available for 100 pesos & free Wi-Fi. Slept in our car and then pitched a tent. Quiet and no complaints. Fisherman go out from this beach early in the mornings.

Lots of fellow campers here. Everyone was very friendly. Nice point break, but it was very crowded for Baja. The town has little tiendas with agua purificada and sometimes gasoline. Signs telling surfers not to post the location online, but this break is published in Surfing Baja.

Road is a little scary but passable in 2wd. The further down the beach, the softer the sand. Beware. Beautiful sunset view. Quiet. a small amount of trash. some fire pits. keep trash secured. coyotes tore ours off the rv and scattered it. had to do a clean up the next morning. no telcel signal at all

The last poster was being a little dramatic. I would say it’s on par with most Mexican towns. Nice place. Stayed 5 nights all alone until the swell came in.

Nice beach. No waves, you have to drive through a very dirty little town. Wow, if only the locals decided to keep the place neat and clean this would be a wonderful spot …. But plastic, trash and broken beer bottles litter the town. Give this a miss until they clean up.

I have a 4WD so I went on the other end of the beach over the hill is another secluded tiny bay, more protected from the winds. Very soft sand to get to the hill, beware. Military vehicle passed by to inspect the coastline. I waved, they waved back and kept going.

Great spot to camp. Sand gets soft as you go further down the beach!!! Fisherman launch about 5-600 so don’t be startled with vehicles. Met another couple here who helped me out. A nice quiet place!!!

Great place to surf, Fire, yoga, the local vendors may bring burritos, dogs are all recommended off leash, and fishermen will be headed out in the morning. You found one of the the best places in Baja in my opinion

Report Check-In

Big swell, lots of surfers in trucks, vans and campers. Tasty waves and nice folks.

We came here after nightfall, not easy to find only with beam lights, but we did it.

No interesting waves when we came, but the spot is perfect as it is huge, hidden from the village, quiet. High clearance advisable but 2wd is ok.

Report Check-In

had no surf when we where here BUT the 1-2ft that was rolling into the bay looked very promising for catching a good swell !

we 4x4 along the beach and over the bluff at the end maybe 700m , comes down to another smaller beach that is much more privet and protected from the wind , we stayed 2 days and nights no problem

Great place to stay. Ask the locals how to get there. Very quiet.

nice quiet spot right on the beach. we were the only ones there for a night. fire pits but no other amenities.

Drive through a small fishing village to get to the camp area. Very quiet and just stayed one night.

We didnt hace any surf. But still the place is really quiet and nice, transparent water but not too much sea life.
We stay two nights, its free!!
You can easily access the beach with 2WD but if you keep going to get to the next bay, high clearence and 4WD will be necesary, there is a lot of loose sand

Spot on the beach (sand with rocks so 2wd accessible). Some firepits with unfortunately the usual garbage. Right out front of a smaller righthand pointbreak. Maybe a beachbreak too.
Quiet and nice. One fisherman showed up around 6am with his boat and car. A lot nicer than the other spot in town!

Report Check-In

Very nice and quiet. Locals are very friendly.

Nice spot south of town on the beach. Usual rubbish that you see in most of Mexico unfortunately. Good little waves on the point when the wind died down. Awesome sunset and dark night sky.

Report Check-In

Nice beach, seems to be more broken glass at the beginning of the beach, less further down - but sand gets a little soft. Spot was as as described - quiet, nobody bothered us, lots of nice flat areas to park. Some fire rings were already there which was handy. No surf when we were there and a few big blue jellyfish on the beach. Driving out in the morning the locals were very friendly with big smiles and waving hello.

Report Check-In

Great location at the beach. Free. Quiet. Just some fisherman arrived before sunrise.

high clearance vehicle needed, beautiful spot. but we couldn't get to it on our van.
