Latest Check-Ins

We just left this morning after our third stay in the last 3 years. Great to see it is getting better each time, and it was already good! The level camping area is up a few steps from the kitchen, toilets, hot showers and general chill out area with books, board games, hammocks, and good WiFi. You will be given information on anything local that you might need, soda, restaurant, bars, shops, things to see and do etc. Lots of activities can be booked here, which we didn't do this time, but tried horse riding a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. We loved sitting by our camper with a cold beer, watching the howlers settling into the tree above us for the night. A great stopover if you want to go to very quiet beaches, or on the way to Santa Teresa area.

What an amazing place this is! Very nice and helpful owners (Dutch), superclean facilities. Pretty much of the beaten track. Had a great stay!

Report Check-In

Really nice hosts and grounds. Cleanest on the Nicoya. I spent several nights here on my bike tour and rode day trips up/down the coast without packs. And they have a super nice common area with great breakfast and cold fruit drinks available for purchase.

Best campsite we visited during our 3,5 week trip to Costa Rica. Owners are very welcoming, extremely relaxed. Owners are dutch and, no hard feelings to campsites owned by locals, things are just perfectly clear and well organised. We ended our trip here and stayed for 5 nights, perfect for easing up after 3 weeks rushing from highlight to highlight through the country. Nice green grass flat spots with beautiful view and sunset. Swimmable beach nearby. Sanitary is the best and cleanest we have seen. Supermarkets at 10 min drive. Communal area has all cooking facilities you need.

We stopped off here for an iced coffee and milkshake and saw what a beautiful setting it is. After checking out the campsite we decided to stay . . . Great idea!
Five minutes to great almost empty beaches, hikes to view points, shops and sodas/restaurants a short drive away, and everything you need from a campsite.
Very clean toilets & warm water showers, wifi, electric at sites and at the communal cooking & seating area, complimentary coffee, board games . . . the list goes on.
Definitely one of the better places we have found on iOverlander.

Report Check-In

It was the most pleasant stay in Costa Rica. The owners are super friendly and helpful. The place is very relaxed and the kitchen provides a place for fellowship. The entire grounds and buildings are very well kept and clean, there is a perfect selection of music playing and the hosts whip up the best milkshakes and more. There is space for several campers or tents. It takes 3-4 minutes to get to the beach by car and 15 minutes on foot, but during the week you usually have the sea to yourself. 5 minutes away by car there is a small village with a supermarket and restaurants.

Attention: coming from Santa Teresa you should only take the road along the south/West coast if you have 4x4. Otherwise, you should drive via the main roads in the north of the peninsula. Last 45 minutes you drive a Good dort dirt Road.

This place is beautiful! Make sure to stop here! If you don't have enough time for a longer stay, take at least the chance to enjoy one of the really delicious milkshakes. Misha and Yen know the area very well, rent surfboards and serve great breakfast. Everything is made with love and they make you feel like home. Highly recommended!

We had the best 2nights in Costa Rica here. The owners are lovely people from the Netherlands and speak perfect English. The campsite is very nice and mostly flat you have a couple of spots witch look out over the ocean. Misha (one of the owners) just installed the heater for the showers so we had nice warm water. They have a very nice kitchen and you can use it or you can order something and Misha or Yenkim makes something nice to eat. They have a book with things you could do in the surroundings. And down the road there is a very nice quiet beach with one restaurant where you can eat snapper with or without garlic and it is delicious!
We want to thank you again Yenkim en Misha hope to meet you one more time someday!

Hello everyone! We just opened our doors again since a week. On iOverlander we are still marked as closed but we changed it already a while ago. It may take some more time to get it updated. Anyway, we are ready and are looking forward for another great season! Bienvenidos!

Super friendly couple/owner that have this place for 4 years now and we’re building it from scratch. They offer tents and camping spots.
We only had shakes and decided to continue but still we received helpful information and felt very welcome!
Side note: they told us they’re only open from November to April only.

Great place to stay. High up, looking down over Playa Coyote, a sloping site with camping pitches, furnished safari tents and communal area.
Feels like it’s yours for your stay and very nicely laid out. You can make use of a full kitchen, play board games, make use of the strong WiFi and chat with the owners or other campers.
We met some lovely people on our stay and the owners are especially accommodating and genuine. We loved chatting with them and actually ended up spending many hours chilling out and conversing.

Thoroughly recommend Hostel Alouatta.

We stayed here for two nights and absolutely loved it. Especially the clean bathrooms and hot showers. The kitchen and common area is fantastic too. The owners gave us fun hiking tips and help us wherever they could. The have enough space to accommodate bigger rigs like our truck/camper. We can highly recommend this place.

¡Hola!

We are Misha and Yenkim, the owners of Hostel Alouatta. We checked into our own place, because this is the only way to put some photos on iOverlander. This to show you what our place looks like.

We created camping spots with ocean view in our jungle/fruit tree garden. In the middle of the terrain, at about 20 meters from the camping spots, we have a communal area at your disposal. Here you can find a fully equipped kitchen, warm showers, toilets, chill out area/terrace, books, boardgames and free Wi-Fi.

We are located in a very beautiful, quiet and still undiscovered area, 1km from the beach. There are a lot of local activities to do, like hiking, horseback riding, fishing and turtlewatching. The unspoiled beaches of Playa Coyote, Playa Caletas and Playa San Miguel are definitely worth the visit.

We also have a juice bar, so if you don't need a camping spot, you are always welcome to stop for a drink.

Hope to see you soon!

We loved this place and stayed ten days in our small camper! There is a lot of space for any kind of car. Or if you like to make a new experiance, just book one of their nice tents with oceanview. Yen and Misha, the owners, are such a nice couple and became friends during our stay. Everything at their place is new. You'll find a good equiped kitchen, hot showers, fast WiFi. Also try their fresh drinks. :-)
If you like to surf (beginners and advanced) or have the beach for your own, than Playa Coyote will be perfect. You also get very good fish at Carlos' Restaurant called Tanga. In the small town, which is 2 km away, you'll find two supermarkets and two sodas. If you like untouched nature and a relaxed atmosphere with nice people, this is the place to be!

The CUTEST little juice/smoothie bar and campsite. Brand new. A couple of options. Car camping is 8 USD PP with a view of the ocean, wifi, bathrooms, showers and we forgot to ask about hookups. Or they have these canvas glamping-style tents that are beautiful inside - they are 48 for a private tent and 17 for a bed in a non private tent. Juice was yummy. Very happy chickens on site - they have a lot of local info and assistance available, too for tours, transport, etc. r
