Centro Ecotouristico "Otulum" | Established Campground

Arrived at 7-8pm in our small converted van, having been asked to leave Misol- Ha. Spoke to a neighbour for directions (v. friendly/ helpful). Doesn't look like the ecotourism centre itself is functioning, but we followed the grass track and parked up.
Flat, grassy, quiet, and safe. Greeted by a young shy couple who were very OK with us staying the night. They did not ask for money. We left early the next morning before seeing anyone and didn't use any facilties (did see an old concrete block so I think there are toilets...)
Saw a family of howler monkeys in the morning in the trees above us, which is a great way to start the day. The town seems very friendly. The road all the way here from the main Carreterra is very bumpy and then turns into a narrow grassy track with a steep turn that I do not think possible for Very Long Campers

grand spot! quiet and loads of fireflies. they asked for 50p.p. No amenities, but I heard plenty of howling monkeys in the late afternoon. not for big rigs

The moment we arrived 3 man of three generations came out to welcome us and settle us in. We wanted to barbecue and Cristobal Senior (4 years old) brought fire wood and even started it. It is a simple campground withba creek next to it, a water faucet (which does not have always water because the minicipal water network isn't that good) a big Palapa and very nice welcoming family.

Cristobal's wife is in a wheelchair since 5 years caused by a emboly!? He asked us which vitamins and food can make her walk again. Additional to the 50MXN for camping we left vegetables and as requested a list of food they should eat for a balanced diet.

Experiences like theone we had here is the reason we travel.
For Camping better spot then MisolHa where people are not that welcoming.

Glad previous users gave clear directions.
Literally get to the tiny bridge and turn left. There it a bit of a rough drive in so try to dodge the mud (easy to avoid)
The owner seemed nice and tried to charge us 100 peso's but we told him we read it was donation and he was ok with that. We paid 50 pesos.
The howler monkeys make the craziest noises and this was the first time we heard them would have freaked out if we did not read it on here first haha.
Also fireflies, look outside at the ground at night you will see them glowing randomly. It was a little intimidating getting here (2 girls in a foreign van driving past a basketball court filled with men there for a meeting) we copped stares but once we made it we had a good sleep and felt safe.

Amazing place to spend just a night or a couple days. Beautiful spot and amazing family. Great little river to swim in. Great directions with the adjustment of RIGHT just after the basketball courts and now the bridge is completed. If you need a great place to sit back and relax, come here. They asked us for 50 pesos.

Nice place, friendly owners (one of them is an artist, doing really nice paintings and sculptures in his workshop).
If it's rainy, watch were you put your wheels, some place can be very muddy (we got stuck with our 2WD Chevy van). Hopefully, the owners and the kids helped us, and, 10 minutes later, we were out of the mud.
Regarding this experience, we left 200 pesos (two person in a campervan, and one in a tent).

Beautiful spot right next to a creek, with howler monkeys hanging out nearby. Emilio and his family were super nice, and the kids from around the ejido were very friendly and interested in us and our rig. $50 pesos to camp. Note, the GPS location is pretty accurate, but the directions posted previously led us to the wrong side of town. You should turn RIGHT just after the basketball court. The land is on the left side just before the bridge construction. Great experience overall.

As described below. I Would not drive a very big rig downthere though. Our children played and did some fishing with the local kids. Had a nice time.
Drove down there after the hotel reception at Misol Ha wanted us to pay a ridicolous price of 300 M$ for staying the night at the Misol Ha parking lot.
We paid the family 70 M$ for the night but payment is cuota voluntario so as you like.
Very nice family. If you go say hello to Cristobal from the danish family.

There's no tent camping at the Misol Ha waterfalls, but this campsite is about 1km before the waterfall turnoff coming from San Cristobal. A little sign on the main highway to Palenque shows this off the road to the right. Drive down the road until there is a basketball court on the right then turn left. drive down untill there is a bridge under construction. The camping is down the grass road on the left. Emilio the owner is super nice and there are lots of friendly kids. The Price is "cuota volentario" so you just pay what you can afford. There's bathrooms and its right next to a beautiful River. Perfect for any vehicle.
