Guatemala
As stated in the description of the hostal, overlanders are more than welcome here. We were referred by a fellow overlander and stayed more than a week and we had a perfect time. We paid 50 QTZ per bus and per night and we could use the showers, bathrooms, wifi and the relax area. Christian (the owner) helped us with a great volcano tour and his wife bakes the most delicious cookies. The fridge is well equipped with both local and international beers and the chef can prepare a decent meal. Well recommended for small to medium-sized cars. He will even try to fit in bigger cars on his spacious parking space in the future. So call or email when in the neighbourhood: [email protected] +(502) 42506511
Update November 2022: 50q per person
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
This place is a reasonable spot. Just FYI, you camp along the main road, not in a campground or anything like that. And it can be LOUD. Starting around 6am-8am there was endless motorcycle noise, loud big trucks and people yelling. Quieted down around 830am. The hostel is nice and clean, but lock the doors for the night between 9-10pm, so if you need the bathroom in the middle of the night you need to knock loudly to wake up the night guy, or have your own solution. That being said, we stayed for 3 nights @ $50q/person
Report Check-InYes! Highly recommend. Q50 per person per night to park our van there. We were one of 4 vans so call ahead to make sure they have space. We were able to plug in to electricity, we used the showers, the kitchen and the lounging areas. The location is perfect and people are nice. We felt very safe and it was fairly quiet.
Report Check-InWe stood here for almost a week. The staff is super nice and very helpful! As already written, it now costs 50Q per person, but all the services of the hostel are included (showers, internet, relaxation area, etc.). It's a quieter corner of Antigua, so it's nice and quiet to sleep at night. For the night we were on the volcano we were able to leave our van here and paid half, which was a completely acceptable deal for us.

Report Check-InThis is *the* spot to camp at when in Antigua. We stayed four nights, met some lovely people in the hostel, lounged around inside the hostel as you get full access to everything there. The coffee is excellent and the breakfast is cheap but very good; perfect to start the day with. The folks that run the place are all very amicable and kind. They do laundry too. We slept quite well. It's just a hair outside the main area of the city so it's perfect to walk to but quite enough during the day or night.
Report Check-InWe have increased our prices to Q50 per person, this is for the use of space (internet, Kitchen, drinking water, games, hot showers and use of towel, also wifi). You can park in front of the hostel (space for 4 vehicles). Check In 1 pm and check out 12pm iif you stay after check out has an extra charge!
Report Check-InGreat option to stay when in Antigua. The staff is extremely nice. We can recommend the tour operator they are working with in case you want to do the Acatenango tour (Soy tours).
Parking is safe and the street is quiet at night.
Laundry took only half a day, 6Q for half a pound, so not the cheapest option in town but convenient and everything came back clean, dry and folded and without any holes ;)
Report Check-InPerfect stop for overlanders to enjoy Antigua. You can park in front of the hostel (space for 4 vehicles) or in the next street (Callejon del Rubio, but ask the police if you need to pay a parking ticket) and use their facilities for 30q/pp. Internet, Hot Showers, Patio. They offer a delicious (and cheap!!) breakfast 25q and lunch 30q, the staff is super friendly and you will meet many fellow travelers and overlanders. Finally, they are pet friendly, there is a nice small park right before the Hostel, and overall the location is great to explore Antigua by foot.
Report Check-InThis is an awesome hub for exploring Antigua and a great deal, we ended up there for 2 weeks! 30q/pp. There is room for 4 van-sized vehicles, best to call ahead and they’ll save you a spot. Kitchen, hot showers, drinking water, games, cheap and delicious breakfasts and lunches. Wifi reached the car on my computer, but not my phone. The water generally turned off by 9pm, which was annoying for no night showers, and I don’t think they cleaned the showers in the 2 weeks we were there, but still totally worth it.
Also, warning, a girl staying at the hostel was mugged in the park next door one night. She was alone at 12:30am on a Saturday night in the park. Dumb, but best be careful if you’re walking back late, especially on the weekend.
Amazing stay! 30Q per person. 25 for delicous breakfast. Would definitely recommend to anyone!
Report Check-InNice hostel, lovely garden, friendly people. But it is only a dirt parking lot right along the street with little room. Our van camper just fitted. Unfortunately people and dogs also pee here so the smell is bad.
Report Check-InWe enjoyed parking out front and ended up staying a week. The staff are incredibly friendly and there is always someone keeping the place clean. They said to knock if we need to get in late at night. Great to have kitchen, showers, bath and common areas to use. Left our camper while doing volcano hike and felt completely safe. Great location for exploring Antigua. Highly recommend and would definitely stay here again.
Report Check-InBest place in Antigua!30Q pp in the tent in the garden or in the Van in front of the Hostel. They offer delicious lunch for 25Q inclusive free drink and organise volcano tours too. Free Wifi, hot shower with pressure, free coffee, shared kitchen and nice garden to chill with volcano view. If you need a ride to Guatemala City, call or write Whatsapp Mario Garcia, 24h Uber driver, 3272-5142. (150Q) Reliable, fair price and super friendly.
Report Check-InGreat place. Ended up spending two weeks here. 30 quetzales per person/night. Fit our camper truck fine
Report Check-InExcelente lugar para parquear
Aún que el espacio es limitado me sentí como en casa
30q por noche con derecho a todo el hostal
THE BEST! Comments can't do justice to this place! Iris and Christian are fantastic hosts... location cannot be beat... safe! room for a couple rigs! we are 23 feet long and 10 feet high... any bigger might not squeeze in! wifi good, shower pressure great, shared kitchen fantastic, volcano viewing from the garden!!! Just stay here!
Report Check-InBest option in Antigua! It’s a beautiful hostal with a big kitchen, garden inside, clean showers, toilets and amazing hosts! We arrived to stay a few days and ended up 2 months sleeping in front of the hostal and left with friends for life! Highly recommended, Iris and Chris are the best!
Report Check-InHave spent a total of 7 nights parked outside this hostel. 50q gets you the use of all the hostel amenities. Amazing hot showers, and delicious breakfast included. Super chill environment in a fantastic location. Only a 15 minute walk up to the view point of volcan de Agua. Super friendly staff. Laundry service.
There is also room to pitch a tent.
Stayed here for 5 lovely days at 50q per person per day. This gets you nice hot showers, towels, toilets, fast WiFi, a simple breakfast (fantastic pancakes and coffee!), and best of all, the hospitality of two wonderful hosts. Just note that the parking isn’t secure, no fence/gate. It’s simply off the street in front of the hostel. That being said, it’s a nice quiet part of town, there are cameras, and we felt very safe. Perfect location. They do lock the hostel at night between about 10pm and 6am... we had to pee on the car tire a couple times 😬
Also, have a chocolate chip cookie! So yummy!
Report Check-InFantastic place to explore Antigua.
Camped out front (small to medium vehicles only) and could use all facilities of the hostel for 50Q ppn.
Including Breakfast and towels provided. Nice garden to hang out and relax. Stayed here twice, would definitely stay here again.Highly recommended.
Awesome place to park you van ( our 19 feet fit perfectly not to much)
50Q pppn breakfast include. Coffee tea juice pancake or egg.
The bathrooms are super clean.
The owner are very kind and helpful, they also speak English.
You can eat there (not tried), laundry and shuttle service here.
WiFi ok
I recommend this place if you want to enjoy Antigua.
We stayed here a total of four nights. The owner is incredibly friendly (fluent English for whom it matters) and has very helpful tips on what to see, what to do. Not as busy as other places so nice to chill out in the courtyard and relax. We definitely preferred this over the police station as it has sanitary facilities (hot showers with towels provided), is in a good location and breakfast included. Oh, and good WiFi when we were there (not many guests).
Report Check-Incan't speak highly enough of this place. Christian, the owner, goes above and beyond for you and knows how to welcome overlanders. 50pp pn with great facilities including breakfast, kitchen use, hot showers, laundry services, wifi that reaches to the carpark etc. would highly recommend this place!
Report Check-InThe perfect place to stay in Antigua. The owners are very nice and helpful.
Still 100Q for a van with 2 people. This includes a small but good buffet breakfast.
There is also a electric plug you can use for your car, if needed.
Really recommended.
We agree with everything said below. This was the perfect place for us to explore the city and the area around. We felt very welcome and safe and Christian and Iris were incredibly helpful. They organized two volcano tours for us and gave us a lot of tips what to do in the area. Wanted to stay only a few days, ended up staying two weeks here and enjoyed every single day. 50Q pp/n incl. Breakfast!!
Report Check-InVery cool place with amazing people. there's place for 3-4 campervan in front of the hostel. You book tours, order food... and breakfast is include ! (50qtz/p/n)
Report Check-InAgree with previous comments. Great place. Especially nice if you have a dog as they have a nice garden and the hostel dog Luka is really cute and friendly towards other dogs. Still 50 pppn.
Report Check-InGreat place to camp and explore the city. We went there twice. Facilities are clean, hot showers, friendly staff. As said, 50 Q p.P. Incl. breakfast (pancakes or scrambled eggs, coffee, juice)
Report Check-InReally nice place and a great chance to meet people. We camped in our truck in front of the hostel and felt safe. Breakfast is wonderful, showers hot and decent wifi. Plus it's a bit away from the busier streets, but still an easy walk.
Report Check-InStayed here for 3 nights without issue. Fairly quiet at night and in morning. Hostel sometimes get large groups of loud teenagers but they leave by 9 am or so. Excellent breakfast adds great value! We booked Pacaya Volcano trip with them - ended up on a bus with about 30 people but even with that the hike and views were worth it!
Report Check-InThis is only a parking spot on the public road in front of the hostal. (I didn't realize this from the previous posts). It felt relatively safe, but you're definitely not going to set up your table and chairs and stuff! You get access to great facilities inside - full kitchen, hot showers, lovely garden with chairs, etc. And includes breakfast!
Report Check-InGreat place to stop. The city looks pretty safe but if you are not full self contain and you want a nice hot shower, good internet and nice chill place to stay this is the place. Everything super clean and well managed. You can wash your dishes, wash your clothing , for us easier than in the truck camper.Pay 50qz for per person with breakfast included. We also manage to leave the truck under their supervision when we left for 2 day volcano hike with no additional cost.
Report Check-Inpaid 100 Q for the car and 2 ppl. Worth the money: hot showers, nice relax area, breakfast included (pancakes or eggs, good portions), walking distance to downtown but very silent at night.
Report Check-InGreat place to stay. Paid 100Q per night for two. Possibility to plug in to electricity. Nice breakfast. Helpful and super nice staff. We booked the Acatenango tour through them and it was great. We left the car parked in front of the hostel while in Acatenango and paid 30Q.
Report Check-InCool place to stay, every local told us that it's not safe to park on the street during the night, to leave the car in a parking is 50qtz. So for 100qtz you sleep in your car, assure that is safe, use bathroom of hostal and have a nice breakfast. Staff is great. Enjoy
Report Check-InNice place. Nice people.Close to everything. You can plug and the price includes breakfast and Nice hot showers. stayed with econoline converstion., parking in the door.
Report Check-InWe stayed some days at the Hostal Antigueño. Christian, the owner, let us camp in front of the Hostal for 50Q per person including breakfast and the use of the kitchen and bathrooms. We felt very comfortable there with Christian and his team helping us to organize activities. A nice, segure and central place to stay to visit wonderful Antigua.
Report Check-InChristian is awesome. We parked sideways under the tree out front and found it very level. Our dog was welcome inside (keep in mind she is very passive and the weimer inside is very protective. Price was $50Q per person per night with access to wifi and bathrooms/shower. Perfect spot for Antigua!
Report Check-InWe originally planned to stay in the police yard, but wanted access to bathrooms.
It was obvious we were near the place when we could see roof top tents and another Four Wheel Camper lined up next to the quiet street.
Parking is on a grassy lawn between the street and the Hostal. No fence or guard, but the street is quiet and seems very safe. One family has been living there over two months and only had an aluminum ladder that was left out walk away.
Wifi is pretty good, and the night guard will let you in to use the bathroom between the hours of about 10pm and 5:30 am. All other times the doors are open.
The owner Christian, his wife, and their staff are very friendly and welcoming. The price, 50q pp/p night seems a little steep, but the included breakfast and coffee in the AM definitely makes it worth the extra money.
When we were there, Christian made us a new breakfast everyday, based on what sounded good to everyone the day before. He took it on as a fun challenge, and each breakfast was better than the last!
Report Check-InGreat place to stay in Antigua. We could use all the amnenities: showers, bathrooms, fire at night and even got breakfast. We payed 100q a night for two people. Great recommendation
Report Check-InVery stiff staff. Other overlanders (as two weeks ago) where paying 60 per rig, now Christian raised to 100 (to stay in our rig, not camping). Better options out there.
Report Check-InWe actually put out tent inside the hostel area. It was Q50/person/night. Christian is a very welcoming host. He asked us to share his other number: +502 3019-5387
