Latest Check-Ins

Mida is set up for Backpackers, not campers, but there are small tent pitches. With a car, there is one unattractive spot. But the camp is attractive and has a very welcoming staff. It is a good base to visit Watamu. There is a pleasant walk along the creek. The restaurant food is good.

Camping 500ksh for 2 people. Campsite is a grassy area.
They have several bungalows (two in the form of tree houses) that you can stay in, although I do not know the price of these and I'm not sure if I would 100% trust that the proper maitenance has been done. Otherwise campsite is fine, there was a fire pit with fire going when we visited. Toilet/shower area is not right next to campsite and requires a short walk. Also, abolutions could use some improvements as they are small with nowhere to hang clothes. Shower with good water pressure. Not bad for 500ksh!
There's a restaurant only 5 minutes drive away called Jambo Hamburger House that we ate at. (Location on google.) Hamburger tasted fine. You could eat here if you want a break from cooking.

UPDATE: There is a Mida Eco Camp and a Mida Nature Camp in close proximity. We initially were going to Mida Eco camp when we saw a sign with ”Mida Camp" on it and an arrow pointing right and accidentally turned up here. Above review is for Mida Nature Camp, not Eco Camp. sorry for confusion.

We stayed here for 2 nights. We also opted for the parking lot which ended up having no breeze and far more mozzies than in front of the restaurant. By the time we decided to move our RTT was up and we couldn’t fit down the driveway. Anyway it was quiet and peaceful and we enjoyed our stay. We ordered breakfast for 500ksh and thought it was good value for money. Also toilets were clean and exploring the mangroves was great.

Nice place, campingspot was a bit strange (in front of the restaurant), so we stayed in the grassy parkinglot- the size of a football field. Facilities were clean. We could order from the restaurant without notice, food was good and big portions, with salad and fruit desert included. Price is now 500 ksh pp.

Report Check-In

We were quite disappointed. The people are very friendly, but the toilets & shower are old & smelly. They have no room for an overlander, so you are on the driveway at the restaurant. You can get electricity through the office.

We took a chance on this place and was not disappointed. We camped with our own ground based tents. It would be difficult with roof tent as access to camping area was work in progress.
We ordered food and had a great fresh fish dinner.
Facilities were clean and good.
Walked to inlet, very nice.
This is a community based ownership and deserves support.
