Mexico
Campground (RV only, no tents) offering an amazing view over the town and the Isla Janitzio. WiFi only at the restaurant, a little at the sites. Approx. 400 nightly; ability to negotiate discount when staying longer. Full hookups (30 amp), hot showers, great food at the restaurant, a 20-30 minute walk to the historical downtown. No extra charge for kids.
To find this park, head south on MEX 120 towards Santa Clara del Cobre. When you pass the toll road 14D (between Morelia and Uruapan), keep going south and make a U-turn as soon as you can. As you head back north, right away (behind the big turn with plenty of signage to slow down), slow down and turn right. This turn has 2 roads: take the left one. You will pass over 14D and in another 300 meters, you come to the entrance gate. Note, the restaurant (and gate) are closed on Tuesday so you may have to honk if you're in front of the closed gate.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
We loved this site. The last mile getting in is a bit hairy but worth it! We managed in our 28’ rig going slowly. Once there, there are amazing views, nice toilets and showers, a lovely restaurant and animals wandering around which our kids loved. We strolled down into town but there are collectivos you can take. I’d recommend it here!
Report Check-InWe had a great 3-week stay in June 2024! Lovely weather to fully explore and enjoy the views, followed by rain and thunderstorms for the final few nights. Access instructions are as listed in the other reviews. We were able to negotiate to 380 pesos per night (two adults + two young children) when we paid in week durations. Water pressure was a bit low, so we used the shower stalls or filled our RV’s tank with fresh water and used the water pump. Our sons loved (!!!) all of the free range playing and exploring on the grounds and with the animals. The donkeys would even wander over to keep them company during homeschool lessons :) Details for longer stays: you can take the combi from down the road through centro to Soriana (10 pesos), then taxi back to the Rancho (120 pesos) with your groceries, otherwise the neighborhood abarrotes and the market in centro may suffice. Refilling garrafones was a bit tricky, but we walked through the chain link fence gate near the bathrooms and traded our empties at the neighborhood abarrote. The walk back with full garrafones was a workout!
Report Check-InWhat an amazing place. We can recommend it. The last mile is a little bumpy but it's worth.
Dunkies, Horses, Goose and chicken and even some friendly dogs are running around.
Speedys pizza deliver delicious pizza and if you need a taxi driveezor tourist guide just call José on WhatsApp at +524341473461. I asked him if I can post his number here and he agreed.
I payed for a one and a half driving service to Pátzcuaro just 250 pesos.
We loved camping here. Plenty of flat grass for overlanders to camp on. RV & trailers can turn around here no problem. Two big gates across property from same road. Water, & electric at all but about 4 spots. Two hot showers, 2 urinals, and 10 flush toilets with seats! Lights in banos hut. Outside sinks. Fantastic view of Lake Patzcuaro.
Pet friendly. Know that farm animals are around. 4-5 dogs live here & they were friendly with us.
About 30 minute walk to zocalo called Plaza Vasco de Quiroga. Tons to see & do in town. We stayed 2 nights so we could have a full day to squirrel around town.

We paid 400 pesos per night for Toyota 4runner. He would not negotiate on price
Report Check-InSuper relaxing spot, very quiet and clean. Spacious with animals roaming freely, which makes this place even more delightful. Groovy and clean toilet area but no toilet paper, so go prepared. 😉 400pesos per night per vehicle…a little on the pricey side. Overlooks the colonial town of Patzcuaro, the lake and mountains. Sunrises and sunsets were very nice.
Report Check-InBeautiful spot. The view is amazing and the place has all services, with lots of open space. The campground itself is certainly big enough for all sizes, but the road in from hwy 120 is a bit tricky. You have to do a U-turn, go over a tiny bridge and drive down a pretty bumpy road. Can be done in a bigger rig, just need to take it slow and easy. The place is on the left, it has a very large gate (as you drive, there are some big gates... but thiers is very big, you'll know it when you see it). Google directions we're spot on. The town was lively and the people we met were kind. We only stayed one night and wished we could have stayed longer! Definitely worth the stop!
Report Check-InBeautiful view! Nice campground. We only stayed one night, and had the place to ourselves. The campground is definitely big rig friendly, but the drive in might be a challenge for larger, longer rigs. You will need to do a U-turn off route 120, there is a small, one way, steep'ish grade bridge you will need to go over and the road gets pretty bumpy as you get closer to the gate. The campground is on the left hand side. Google is spot-on for routing.
The town is amazing, wish we could have stayed longer!
Report Check-InWe stood here for 2 nights. The animals that run around freely are relaxed. Unfortunately we were the only guests in the camping area. You have a great view of Patzcuaro, the lake and the surrounding mountains. You can walk to the center, about 2.5 km. The way back is a little more difficult. The restaurant is highly recommended. 400 pesos/night and vehicle.
Report Check-Inpor favor llegaremos sábado o domingo por la tarde, 2 personas, 1 Autocaravana y un coche. ¿encaja? Gracias

Fantastic place, great restaurant and has an amazing view. 400 per night but has water, electricity, dump station and firewood. their staff, dogs and Geese are really friendly. Worth the 400 per night. oh and it's super safe.
Report Check-InFantastic, quiet, scenic location overlooking the city and lake. The grounds and facilities are tidy. There is still no hot water at the campground showers but I was offered to shower in a cabana. The restaurant is open from 1:30-6:30pm. The place is family run. I paid mx$400/night for 3 nights.
Report Check-InReally cool experience with all the animals, chicken, rooster, geese, dogs galore, donkeys and horses (which were pretty aggressive). The sites are great with water electrical and dump. The washrooms were nice, hot shower didn’t work by RV park so they let us shower in hotel room. Fire pits and firewood available for free. Fantastic view and really nice restaurant view as well.
The only thing to note is to always go up the 120 to do a uturn to get back, google maps took us on some really sketchy dead end roads when we were trying to get back late from town (we thought it was only going in). Also glad we came here versus the in town RV park as the owner has some really bad reviews on this app and google maps!
We had good data there. Wifi only worked near restaurant.
Report Check-InWe stayed 3 nights here.
Amazing vue on the lake. Very quiet (except roaster and dogs but like everywhere in mx) and clean
Évry morning the animals come to say hello
My daughter was so happy. You can get a combi In the street to the center for 10 pesos and 10min.
400 pesos per night. Wifi is very good.
Nice restaurant and very good margaritas
Very nice location overlooking Pátzcuaro and the lake. Due to construction work in toilet and shower building they offered us a hotel room for toilet and shower. Nice restaurant and fryendly staff.
Report Check-InVery nice huge Ranch with a lot of animals. 1 bull, 3 horses, 1 mule, 9 dogs, a lot of chicken & ducks.
They are most of the time free. wonderful. WiFi only for texting usable, so very very bad. Staff super friendly. but: mask fetishists. Please wake up, Corona is a fake, a lie, a plan! Restaurant very good. Margaritas fantastic, food also.
Fantastic view. take the road from above, not from the town!
Stellplatz mit allem was man braucht. Leider kein Schatten. Sonst alles Bestens.Very nice view over Patzcuaro, very good restaurant. Pitch with everything you need. Unfortunately no shade. Otherwise everything is fine.
Report Check-InRancho La Mesa has also a campground.
With our truckcamper we were on the field and had a good diner at the restaurant.
Second time here. Went here again because of the good experience.
- Full hookup for a fair price.
- Our dog could run over the whole field.
- You can walk in to town, go back by
collectivo or taxi.
- Beautifull vieuw over the lake & town.
back to this great camping place. just 2 other campers. negotiated 300p.p.night for 2 of us. still hard to find and rough road to the entrance. great view of Patzcuaro
Report Check-InA large field lined with full hookups. 30 amp, 15amp, water faucet and dump stations. Hot strong shower. WiFi works in the campsites for us. Superb views excellent restaurant closed Tuesdays. Several friendly campground dogs and lots of farm animals. 360 pesos.
Access is complicated the first time. Either from downtown following Google mapping on a rough road. Or from Highway 14D carefully reading the map. Luck and persistence help. This place does exist! We’ll worth a visit.
we cam in today Sunday and paid for two nights, he charged me 360 pesos a night. The shower and restroom are more or less okay, a bit more clean would be nice. The view from here over Patzguaro is indeed awesome.
Report Check-InThis place has a spectacular view over Patzcuaro. We drove to Morelia with our car, and it was only 45 minutes.
320 pesos per night with hookups.
I have a 33 feet class A
300 peso 2p. Could choose a spot
ourselves on a big grassy field with a great view on the lake and Patzcuaro. Full hookup. Had a good meal at the restaurant.
Really great place to stay awhile. Parking on grass, toilets, hot shower, sinks, restaurant with WiFi, collective into town not far down the road. We arrived on a Friday when the gates were closed. Drove to the top gate (very bumpy) and honked, and someone came out to let us in. Price is currently 300 pesos with no hookups and 350 with hookups. We stayed three nights.
Report Check-InThis place is in wrong location - it is located at 19.50195, -101.59346
Report Check-InBeautiful place with a great view to town and the lake. Very friendly owners how will give you all information you need. Restrooms are at the moment out of order. He offered us that we can use a bathroom in one of the cabanas. Restaurant on this place is awesome with the same beautiful few as you have from the RV sites. It's also a working ranch so you have different animals around you. We walked down to town and had no issue, felt safe.
Report Check-InWe were here a total of 5 weeks. After 1.5 years of our trip, it is the perfect campsite! We travel with our 5 year old son - just because of the many animals there is no boredom. All animals and people (hosts) were super friendly. The course itself is beautifully laid out and has a fantastic view of the city, the lake and the islands. We often walked into town to shop and if the shopping was too big a taxi would cost 45 pesos. A great city, great space, hot shower, WiFi .... I find nothing negative.
Report Check-InAs others have said a lovely peaceful campground with spectacular view of Patzcuaro and the lake below. Excellent shower and toilet in one of the rooms. Very good restaurant on site. 20 minute walk down hill to the charming town. Take the Amarillo collectivo back for 9 pesos. 320 with full hookup or 200 for dry camping. Loved it and spent 6 days. The restaurant is closed Tuesday so the gate may be closed. There is a number to call on the upper gate and you can open the lower gate with a bit of muscle. Recommended
Report Check-InHello
So great place with a lovely view.
We pay 200 for a dry site because a big group of Canadian traveller in rv (24) was there so it was full for the hookup place.
But the full hookup price is 300.
You need to follow the indication of Ioverlander to come here, don't take the road through the town if you have a rv....it can became your worst nightmare
Friendly crew, hot and clean shower, a lot of animals, and a so lovely town to visit (20 mn walking).
Enjoy your trip
Nice rv park with a great view. The park has 2 entrance . We took the one without a sign and we went through bumby streets. One there we learn about the other way witch is from the carretera.
Report Check-InWe stayed 5nights for 1000Pesos without power/water; wide open grassy area with a breathtaking view at the lake; so many lovely animals around- we had such a great time; had some good lunch in the restaurant and fantastic Pina Coladas; we walked from there into the village center,
Report Check-InGreat RV park with amazing lake views. Large grassy area with full hookup sites (30 AMP electricity if needed). Big rig friendly. Hot showers in one of the hotel rooms. Lots of animals roam here (keep your dog on a leash). Friendly staff including Sacramento, the grounds keeper! We paid 2000 pesos per week (and stayed 2 weeks).
Report Check-InVery nice place. Convienent to walk down to old town. Important! Follow the cordinate as mentioned before by others! Otherwise you will not find it!
Report Check-InNice views, lots of animals including their droppings all around. Horses, cows, turkeys, 10 dogs, sheep, etc. Wifi only sometimes and slow at the restaurant. Water at hockups needs to be filtered as it has lots of particles in it. Some road noise at night, but ok. Roosters in the morning. Price raised to unreasonable 325 Pesos a night.
Report Check-Inno tent camping!!!!, only self sufficient RV. rooms start 1500pesos...
Report Check-InBest campsite we’ve been to in Mexico. Insane view of the town/lake/island, beautiful and delicious (albeit pricier) restaurant on site, and they let us use the restroom and shower inside of a really nice room/cabin during our stay. Bathroom access was 24/7, and we walked 30 minutes down the hill into town. Make sure you take the 120 to access from the right side. Animals from horses to turkeys to sheep to donkeys, cows and dogs everywhere! We also were allowed to have a fire right on the grass at one of the farm workers’ encouragement. They have firewood available for purchase.
Beautiful Ranch - quiet, full hook-ups. Can walk to town. Owners are very welcoming. Be careful, the entrance to the park can be a little complicated when it's your first visit. To get to the entrance, you have to make a half turn on the 120 (after the big curve) to retrace your steps (no worries, a lot of room to do it - we are 53 'long with the car) Here are the GPS coordinates of the beginning of the entrance (near the new bridge that was redone and overlooking the # 14D: 19.494777, -101.590158 After crossing the small bridge, continue straight ahead (about .5km) and you will see the entrance arch of the Ranch.Arrive before 6pm, because the entry may be barred then.
Report Check-InWonderful campground. My favorite thus far. One nice, clean bathroom. Great restaurant. Walk to the city (20-30 minutes). Gorgeous view.
Best part all the wildlife: cows, horses, chickens, turkeys, dogs and babies of each.
We followed the iOverlander coordinates and had quite a bit of trouble finding it. I wouldn’t even know how to help someone else now.
The new access starts at these coordinates: 19.496757, -101.598932 From this point on it is well signposted.
Wonderful place. If you don't need the hookup, you can camp at the front of the place with an undisturbed view, which is also closer to the bathroom, and the price is even lower.
A footnote if you want to explore the area and hire a private taxi. Jose Aguilar, speaks excellent English and was born here. His # is 434 114 1433. You can hire him for a tour around the lake. Negotiate the price. Approx 6 to 8 hundred pesos.
Report Check-InPatience on the way in, and you are rewarded with a fantastic place. The view and restaurant are worth the trip. Paid 370 per night.
Report Check-InCame back this year for a couple weeks. I’ve been here a couple weeks already, probably stay a couple more, love it!
Report Check-InAwesome spot! Beware of weekends, the ranch has an event space for weddings and it can be really noisy at night if there's some event happening. Still, the place is totally worth it. Highly recommended!!
Report Check-Inyou can't take the entrance from the Mex 120 anymore: they are building a new bridge. You have to go through town. It is not to difficult but still some cobblestone roads and not for the real big rigs. Still a great place to stay for a couple of nights!
Report Check-InEntered correct coordinates for exit from MX 120 libre. Follow dirt road to gates (2 signs) over cuota road. Accessible by any length, height, clearance using this route. Paid $250p per night for 2 with full hookups. Decent bathroom. Hot shower. Lots of farm animals. Taxi to town is $60p or can walk it. Good restaurant in site with odd hours.
Report Check-InThese coords (see photo) are the entrance to this location. Other coords will not allow access to the RV park.
Enter off libre road MX 120. Short dirt road to entrance. No access from cuota road to here. Access through town is inaccessible.
Absolutely fantastic spot to stop. The grounds are beautiful, sites plentiful and staff very friendly. I didn't use power or water but they are available. Google maps steered me astray. Best to try the approach from the north East side. Some gravel road required to get in, but if you take your time it's fine for all rigs. The burrows, sheep, dogs, and even the bull are friendly, and were very relaxed around my puppy. Given that it was her first time seeing all of the larger animals, I would say it should be no issue with any dog that is relaxed in the presence of large animals. The grounds are very quiet at night, with some distant road noise from the highway that is very acceptable. All in all, well worth the 280 pesos per night. Oh, and did I mention the view? Stunning!
Report Check-InGreat campspot! Great views of the town, lake, and islands. We stayed 2 nights and were the only ones here. Tons of room and many campspots to choose from. Great private bathroom and shower. Would highly recommend. 280 pesos per night for 2 people and a dog. Nice walk to downtown. Be sure to check out La Tradicion restaurant for Purepeche meals. This place was so good! Its just west of the plaza de basilica on Arciga street. Also check out Velma's art shop on Quiroga street a few doors catycorner and west of the Museo de Arte's Populares. She speaks English and is super nice and just opened her shop.
Report Check-InWhat a view, you can't put a price on it!
I loved this place, came for a couple days, stayed 18! The owner Beto is terrific and it has the best restaurant in Patzcuaro seriously 4 stars. I can't forget the chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, burros , and horses! It took my dog awhile to get use to the other animals but once he got the idea he was just one of them. I'll be back next year if not sooner.
Campground offering an amazing view over the town and the island at 280 pesos. Full hookups , hot showers, great food at the restaurant (10% discount for the campground clients!), at 15 min. walk to the historical downtown. No extra charge for kids and negotiable price if you stay longer.
