This place is absolutely amazing. There’s six sites at the actual campground but if you go down further to the left of the campground, there’s more sites in the woods they have drinking water and portable water and a pit toilet there are lots of flies however they’re not to much of a pest. Mosquitoes come out around 730 at night but otherwise you have all day without them. Absolutely no service but you don’t need it when you’re in such a gorgeous spot please take your trash with you and do not use the bathroom next to the camp and keep this place nice because it is one in 1 million find.

Oh, you have to see this little slice of paradise! It is listed as a designated campground but it is free. Trees for shade, a little stream running through, good road in, fire pits, picnic tables, takes any size rig and four miles away from the road. This place is as close to perfect as you can get. I see about 10 sites and there is plenty of room between you and neighbours. It has been well treated with no rubbish and no shells so this ranks a 10 out of 10.
UPDATE. The last mile, or so, in is one lane so take caution. It has a pit toilet and has a tap too but unsure if it is potable water. No phone reception at all.

Lovely free campground on the Susan River and the Bizz Johnson bike trail. 6 very level sites with pic nic table and fire ring. Tent friendly and at least 3 of the sites could accommodate larger rigs or trailers . There is a loop at the end of the camp ground so easy maneuvering Lots of big trees so shady. Sign coming down the road says you need a permit to burn , presume you have to get this on line and there is no cell service here so need to do that a head of time. Two water taps with clean good tasting water. One pit toilet closer to the bike trail. Google maps will get you here , it is about 5 miles down a well maintained dirt road. Use google and perhaps day light as there are many roads off this one. We drive in our 2,wheel drive Sprinter easily We rode the bike trail back towards Susanville as far as the first tunnel (about 7 miles). This was all down hill (about 3% rail trail grade) so our return trip was up hill. The trail is in excellent condition so this was easy to do.

5 campsites plus 1 across bridge on left. Bizz Johnson Rails to Trails Bicycle Trail is downhill to Susanville about 12 miles.

absolutely beautiful place. Free. We had it to ourselves on a Thursday night in April and over the weekend so many giant rigs showed up. A large 5th wheel scraped and punctured the side of his rig and awning so maybe larger vehicles should stay away The day we were all alone was absolutely peaceful and still and amazing.

We stayed at the campground and had it to ourselves. However, there is also a dispersed site on the other side of the creek. Cross the bridge and make a left on the narrow dirt road. Our 24 foot RV would’ve made it fine. Fire ring at Creekside. Bizz Johnson trail is beautiful hike or ride in either direction.
