Latest Check-Ins

I talked to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commision. This campground is permanently closed. Day use is still available.

Report Check-In

I was looking to stay here this weekend, but noticed a few place said it was closed, so I made a few calls to verify. This property is now controlled by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and is no longer a campground. I asked if it was a temporary closure or permanent. I was told it was a permanent closure.

Report Check-In

Haven't stayed yet... Would love to though!

Report Check-In

Talked to a ranger which said that specifically this site which is marked is closed until next year because of hurricane damage.
The other one „bayou“ has 4 sites and is still open. Also for free. And really nice campground.
If you come to the junction take a right turn

Report Check-In

NOT CLOSED!! At the end of the road there are two campsites, this one the bayside and the bayou campground. Bayside was closed but Bayou was open to use. Small site, porta potty, picnic table, fire rings. FREE. Right by the water.

Report Check-In

Temporarily Closed until further notice.

Ranger will come by to check your permit! Just adding a note about the campground next to this one - called bayou campground. Very small (3 sites, close to one another). One portapotty. Beautiful view of the marsh, and we were the only ones there on a Wednesday so it was perfect if you’re looking for more seclusion.

Fantastic campground! Although it was closed for “COVID” we still spent the day and evening there. Access to the beach, quiet, 2wd is fine. Full cell service, fire rings, pic nic tables. Close to navarre beach. Be prepared for bugs. Will definitely be staying here again.

Report Check-In

Site as described in previous posts, but wanted to add the following. If you are coming from the South (Navarre/FWB), DO NOT trust Google maps. We showed up in the late afternoon and ended up going down 4+ miles of rough that had we stopped would have most likely swallowed the RV up pretty quickly.

After finding a piece of solid ground we pulled over to reassess the situation. At that point the sun had set and thankfully one of the local Law Enforcement officers from FWC saw our lights and came to find us and point us in the right direction. The officer mentioned that this happens all the time and that people were towed out as recently as the previous night. Pretty grateful that he showed up when he did.

So if you’re coming from the south, DO NOT trust Google Maps. Follow the route that takes you up and around the Choctaw Navy Outlying Airfield (picture included) and make sure you follow the red hard packed road. Do not venture off the red road and do not take the Google suggested route south of the airfield as the situation declines very quickly with no easy way to turn a rig around.

BEAUTIFUL view, right off the beach.
definitely one of our favorite spots yet!

Report Check-In

Quiet campground, spots tidy, with picnic table under trees. Porta-potty toilets, one clean, other needs some attention.
Only one other vehicle in campsite.
12 sites, need to register on-line, but free.
Be prepared to do some miles on dirt road.

Report Check-In

Very, very, very buggy, decent cell service. There are portable toilets but not emptied often. I found that the trash bins were always full with flys swarming them. Rangers patrol at all hours during the night and check permits. The first night I was there police were called and unregistered campers were removed.

Report Check-In

Very nice campground, next to the water, with fire rings, table and trash bins at every place. Pit toilets, they are not emptied/cleaned often. A dirt road leads to the campground, but it is in very good condition, there were some pretty big RVs there as well, it seems to be a popular place for RVs and there generators were quite noisy and running all the time. We styes on the bayside campground, I don’t know how the bayou looks like. There are some nice hiking trail on the forest accessible from the campground.
