Incredible view from this camping/bungalow place! wanted to stay 3 days, ended up 2 weeks! we love also that it's not too fancy, but very good built. way up/down easy with bikes, other guest came with 2wd also easily... even the owner is not here atm, a friend is running the place, so all good.

Report Check-In

It was technically closed when we arrived as the owner was abroad but his friend let us in. We had the whole place to ourselves. The shower didn't drain and was smelly and the light in the toilet didn't work. The road is also a bit tricky. It's uphill and gravel to reach the gate then it's downhill with some loose stones. Contact the owner before +593 98 151 0939. His name is Christian.

We spent 4 great nights here. Arrived on a Thursday before Easter and left Monday morning. There were a few folks around on Friday evening, otherwise by ourselves.

Nice covered pavilion with a light, electrical outlet and six seater picnic table. Nice bbq grill with a running water sink. Cold shower, clean flushing toilets. Tremendous view of the ocean. A bit on the hot/humid side but generally a nice breeze and a fairly easy walk down to the beach.

Christian the owner has spent 30 something years making this place great.

Others have commented on the road. We came up literally after 2” of rain the night before. A soon issue with a 4wd. 2wd might be fun after a rain.

Great place and we’d definitely stay again.

It doesn’t get much better than this! We arrived the Saturday before Semana Santa and had the place to ourselves the whole time. So quiet! No music, no dogs, no roosters, it’s a miracle! The view is incredible, the bbq is awesome with a sink next to it. We invited a bunch of overlanders for Easter weekend and easily fit 5 of us spaced far apart with some privacy. The road in was fine even in the rain, just muddy, we used 4x4 just to be safe. On a dry day, no problem for any car. It’s a big brown gate with no sign, and the Swiss flag on the building beside the gate. Make sure you do some shopping before you arrive, Salango doesn’t have much and you’re going to want to stay longer than you think! We paid $10 for the island trip, didn’t see anything snorkeling but still a nice swim. Enjoy! $6pp

Report Check-In

We can confirm that this is an excellent place to stay! 360’ views. An outdoor kitchen and palapa to hang out in. Owners are very relaxed and give you a key to access the beach. 10 min steep walk up and down. Then a further 10 min walk to town along the beach. The ocean is fine to swim in. Happy memories for our Easter weekend spent here with other Overlanders.

Report Check-In

One of the best campgrounds during our trip! The view is absolutely incredible. Amazing!!
Christian and Ana are such friendly hosts, we would have liked to stay longer. 6Usd pp/pn

Report Check-In

We only spent one night because our visa and TIP were running out. It’s a beautiful peaceful spot with an incredible sunset. We paid $6 pp to camp including electricity. It was hot so we turned on our A/C for a while and the electric outlet was able to handle it. There’s only one toilet and shower so I don’t think you want to come here on a weekend if it’s full. The road up is steep and some tight turns. A big American RV might not make it. If it’s wet at all I wouldn’t attempt it. We have friends with very capable 4x4’s that couldn’t make it up when wet. You have to wait until late afternoon when the road is dry to come up. A rainy day would be impossible. If you’re tired of loud noisy trash filled camping, this place is paradise..

Report Check-In

Outstanding place. Owned by a Swiss guy. My very favorite place in Ecuador!! We were here when it was bloody hot but here was always some wind (on the big flat area)
No mosquitoes at all, love it. Jan was taking care on the place when the owners were on holiday. Great guy!!

Report Check-In

rainy day, road very muddy. could not reach the top even with 4x4 reduction

Report Check-In

Absolutely stunning place (as mentioned often before), one of the best places to stay that I know. Not too much infrastructure, but really nice, peaceful and calm.
The whales are almost gone further south (best would be August and September). 110W in some parts available, Wifi only around the owners house (but good 4G net with Claro).

Report Check-In

crazy views. tons of whales! unfortunately it was 50 shades of grey when we were here, but the manta rays we saw at Isla de la Plata were worth it. we stayed here for 5 nights while waiting for an opening for a dive boat. it's a steep but easy walk to the beach, but there isn't much going on in solango. the road up here is very steep in one spot and the rain turned the concrete hard clay into playdough, we barely made it in 2wd (with a locker in the back). when it's dry it's not a problem. don't fill up your water tank here! tested over 400ppm which is dangerous to drink. the owner offered us the use of a concrete slab to allow us to do swap out brake pads and rotate the tires. b

Report Check-In

Beautiful place! $6pp. Whale watching and amazing views of the ocean.

Report Check-In

Private, quiet place with lots of space to roam and different areas to pick from for camping. Amenities are few and as described, but the views and whale watching in season make it worth a stay. There are 5-6 nice looking, inexpensive cabanas for rent through Airbnb. Friendly, helpful, and non-intrusive hosts. We paid $6 per person.

Report Check-In

Wonderful campground, the owner (0981510939) has a lot of land with viewpoints to enjoy the landscape. During the season you can observe humpback whales from the viewpoints or even from your car. It's a dirt road but you can easily make it with a 2-WD. there is everything you need, toilet, shower (cold), sink and the owner is very nice and tells you were to go when you need something and has a lot of stories to tell. It's a few km away from Puerto López, but it's easily reachable (5 $ for a taxi, we can recommend Rene 0984536404).

Report Check-In

Lovely place! The view is amazing, you can see a lot of whales in the season. Several spots to camp and several viewpoints. Kitchen available, a stove and a cold shower. The owner Cristian is a really nice and friendly man. If you see the gate, ring the doorbell and wait a little minutes. The property is really big. Best place camped in Ecuador, sad to leave. Don’t miss this place!

Report Check-In

Spectacular view to the island and the sea, free whalewatching in season from campspots. Very friendly reception, Christian gave us the tour through his very special place. One of our favorite spots in the last three years on the panamericana. You should really check this place out, otherwise you miss something.

Report Check-In

Precioso lugar y mucha amabilidad de parte de sus propietarios.
No dejen de visitar este lugar

Report Check-In

Christian is at the time in Swizerland. A young couple is the householder. We payed 16 USD for two people camping in our car. The toilets were clean, but the cold shower is VERY basic. The other amenities seemed not to be very often used. All in all it is too expensive for that what is offered.

Report Check-In

Despite the fact Christian is not investing anymore as he wants to sell his property, it is still a wonderful and a real amazing place to stay. Especially the views from the cliffs and the platform above including barbecue place are spectacular. Every overlander is still welcome.

Report Check-In

Big cerrado sign on the gate. Noone around. its not really a reliable option. Although there is a lovely mirador up here that is worth a stop.

Report Check-In

The Hostería and restaurant are officially closed. All signs have been removed. The camping is still open and Christian still welcomes overlanders. Drive to the house with the Swiss flag and ring. Wifi only works up at the house.

Report Check-In

Super endroit avec une super vue sur l'île de Salango et la baie de Salango.
La partie camping est située au bord d'une falaise. Douche, WC Wifi.5$/p

Report Check-In

Christian is very helpful and invited us to his house for new years eve. Beautiful camp site overlooking the ocean, decent bathroom and shower available close by and fast WiFi.

Report Check-In

increíble vista. gran área de parking. muuuuy recomendable. 5 us p/p X noche. quincho y mirador con asador. duchas. baños. wifi excelente. muy seguro.

Report Check-In

The hosteria is officially closed. Means no people at the cabins, no good at the restaurant and could be that the Swiss owner isn't at the side so nowbody can open the gate. The owner is still welcoming overlanders. So don't hesitate, just come here! It's a very beautiful spot with an amazing view. Hammocks and bbq place. Just bring your own food!

Report Check-In

Loved it here. Patricia made us feel very welcome. At the gate, ring the bell for 10-15 seconds then wait up to 10 mins for them to open the gate (it's a big site & sometimes they are far away). Nice food in the restaurant. If you want wifi, park at the restaurant by the path to the mirador. It's quieter here than at the camp-spots overlooking the beach/town. There is a path down to the beach but ask for the gate key before you head down there. $5pppn & well worth it!

Report Check-In

Very nice and quiet place on the cliffs with a breathtaking view over the ocean. Toilets and shower (cold) are ok. Payed $5 per person. We enjoyed our stay here very much!

Report Check-In

A place to relax. Nice view! Good for big rigs. During whale season, you can see them from your campsite. Pat is a great cook!

Report Check-In

These are the wrong coordinates. The right place is Hostal Salango Islamar!

Report Check-In

Beautiful, quiet place to stay.
In the right season you can do whale watching directly from the cliff.
The temperature is very confortable because of the little wind coming up from the sea.
We can really recommand this place.

Report Check-In

best camping on the coast with a magnificent view over the beach and the islands. unbelievable birdwatching spot. lot of privacy in the huge area for camping. if necessary oilchange and small mantainance on the truck can be done at the workshop. if the owner is around, he is happy to help.

Report Check-In

Amazing views, but very basic facilities for what you pay.
USD$15 for the truck + 2 people.

Report Check-In

Wonderfull place with a great view, showers, good wifi and a view on the ocean and the Salango Island. We really liked this place very much. We paied 7,5$ per personn and also had a very good diner there for 10$ pps.

Report Check-In

Access road is very steep and after rain it might be a problem to make it with a 2WD. But location is still pretty nice with a 270 degree view down the Pacific. You can see whales from here! We did a day tour to Isla La Plata from Puerto Lopez, ask the staff, with pick up at the Hosteria for $40 p/P.

Report Check-In

Just amazing view, whales watching, perfect !

Report Check-In

wunderbarer Campingplatz direkt auf einem Felsen mit Blick auf die Bucht.Kleiner Weg zum Strand ca. 10 min. Strom und Wifi vorhanden. Restaurant und WC mit Dusche. 15 US pro Nacht.

Report Check-In

Awesome place to stay! Amazing view of Pacific. USD 7.5 per person. Good Wi-Fi and Vera Nice shower (cold) close to the parking area. Very quiet and invite you for a relax. Easy access by the Panamericana.

Report Check-In

We weren't in love with Puerto Lopez so came up here even though it was expensive. We were originally quoted the $15/pp but a Swiss couple came and they were quoted $7.50/pp so we were able to get that price. It is very nice here, hammocks & picnic table in the shade, wifi at camping spot, nice outdoor shower, beach access, and Patricia runs a really nice restaurant, plus the view is amazing! The only downer is the toilet is a bit far but if that's important you can park next to it.

Report Check-In

Great spot. Only adding: It is $15 /pers now. Plus a nice hike down to the village, take a short cab drive to Puerto Lopez to buy fresh fish from the fishermen.

Report Check-In

Probably one of he most spectacular campsites we have ever visited. Spots are all along a cliff overlooking the ocean with a trail to the beach. It's a shame that the shower is pretty awful and the only restrooms are by the restaurant. Still, highly recommended. $15 per night.

Report Check-In

Beautiful place overlooking the ocean. Various spots to park all with a great view. There is a restaurant with tasty food and laundry service is available. Only downside: shower is very rustic and lacking of privacy. We paid USD 15 per night.

Report Check-In

- officially $15 for the two of us
- wifi
- this one is a mixed bag - it used to be $5 per person, now we were asked $7,5 and had to talk it down at least to $6
- the fish in the restaurant was realtively cheap and pretty tasty, but drinks are rather expensive
- the view is really nice, but there is only one bathroom which wasn't really clean
- shower is also rather interesting, but works
- all in all we wouldn't say a word if the price was $10 or less, but asking for $15 because they "had to build a shower" etc. seems too much for what you get.

Report Check-In

Magnificent Wohlfühlplatz , enhanced with superb views of the Pacific Ocean. Electricity, toilets and showers available. Muffled engine noise of fishing boats and a factory, otherwise quiet. WiFi and WiFi. Laundry 10./Night U.S.

North of the village Salango, right up the hill, gravel road with deep holes. driveway is well signposted

Report Check-In

A better view is hardly possible. Located south of the village Salango up on a peninsula. Clean and nice toilet at the restaurant, cold water shower in an iron ton. Free WIFI (not always available). Fantastic common area at the Mirador with a 270 degree view of the two long sandy beaches and offshore islands. Small climbing park. Direct access to the beach. 10 minutes walk on the beach to the village.

Good starting point for whale watching trip. We booked a trip for 6 people at the restaurant "Pelicano" and paid 15$ / person for 1.5 hours. Really recommended.
