Highly recommend! Fili is an awesome guy that can fix or fabricate just about anything you need for your vehicle or trailer. Guys like Fili are rare!

LOCATION
The location of the property is on Highway 1, S out of Loreto, heading towards La Paz... Heading South, a left turn off the highway would lead you to the airport... although it is here that you can see in the distance Fili's building on the right side of the road.

During our time in Bahia de Los Angeles, I discovered to my horror.... a clicking sound any time I put my Jeep Wrangler into 4x4. After researching this, I felt pretty confident, that the clicking was a bad CVJoint in my driveshaft... and driving in 2-wheel would be fine, although I did have limited reliability with 4x4 before becoming incapacitated.

Anyhow, I had searched out Jeep Dealerships... as I do not speak the language and honestly... who else could I possibly trust to the work correctly.

So, I had a Jeep Dealership in La Paz identified and it was just about then... that I noticed a Facebook post on Talk Baja, where mechanics were being discussed. It was under multiple suggestions on this post that I researched Fili's on iOverlander.

To my surprise, as I was still a long way from La Paz on my itinerary, that Fili was located within Loreto, our very next stop!!! I ventured over to his property knowing what was wrong with my Jeep, although would allow him to do what he does to identify the problem and see if all information aligns.

Setting my expectations (as per previous reviews) I allowed File all the time he needed to start and complete discussions with multiple people whom arrived before me. He is thorough and therefore believed if I wait long enough... I too with get his thoroughness and therefore a quality repair.

Once I was able to secure his attention, as suspected I had his full attention and he spoke with me (English), lifted and looked at the Jeep and identified what I had... a bad CV Joint.

He had his girls research obtaining the part and within minutes, had me a price and timeline.

I set my appointment for a few days from now, arrived and it was then that they offered me a ride... to wherever I needed to go... if I did not want to wait. Well, thank you very much, I accepted.

A few hours later, I got the call, was picked up and brought back to his property.

I paid American dollars for the part... pretty much exactly what I found online myself... although the hourly fee for his mechanic to fix was penny's on the American dollar. Almost to the point where even typing this out, I feel guilty... to have paid so little.

I did question Fili's girls, although they reassured me this was the correct amount.

I would ABSOLUTELY go back to Fili if I needed some work performed for me to continue my journey. I would at this point, go out of my way, traveling back to Loreto just for the privilege of feeling safe and secure in regards to the quality of the work and more importantly what appeared to be an honest working atmosphere.

I had quite an experience with the various mechanics in Loreto. I had a motor mount issue. Fili was one to make a full assessment and judge that the biggest problem in my motor mounts was that there was one component that was missing a bolt and the other was loose. Through town, Nino and other mechanics had pointed at one or another motor mount and insisted that was the one to replace, but yeah Fili charged 200 pesos for about 20 minutes work, while others would have been up to 2000 pesos.
... +/-'s of Fili's place... Very well equipped for more complex jobs, but also very busy. It can be 5 days booking on a 4 hour job.
...pricing, like the whole approach, can be more professional,, but still well less than the US.
...I'd definitely go here first if I have an issue in Loreto. He may be busy, but he makes a point of stopping for drop-in diagnosis.
.... hopefully he gets one or two assistant mechanics soon, to match the fantastic facility

This place is great if you need any fabrication, suspension work and brake work done. We had a sprinter and an astrovan blow out parts and his staff quickly fixed everything. $80 to fix and fabricate a new bushing for a sheared rear shock bolt. $60 for new front pads and turned rotors. $80 for new shocks up front from autozone. $60 for a new engine mount that would have probably been $800 in the States. Great experience, not your usual Mexican mechanic.

We cannot recommend this place! They might do good work (maybe) but they will charge you way too much. We were three traveling couples (in three vehicles) one of us lost a nut of the wheel suspension (faulty design of Toyota Tacoma) Unfortunately we didn't join them to this garage, we just sendet them over and meet again later on the road. They payed 600,- Mx for about 15 minutes of work, just to fix this nut. They have been the first time at a Mexican garage and didn't know how much it may cost. Just as a orientation for all of you: we payed in a garage in Guerrero Negro 600,- Mx for changing a wheel bearing and fixing a tire and the tube. That took 3,5 hours!

Stopped in to have our land cruiser looked at due to a check engine light. We have a code reader, and had a good idea of what the problem was, but wanted to make sure any alternate causes weren't overlooked. Fili seemed very helpful, and spoke good English. He said he fixed the issue, however, the same light (and codes) came back 10 minutes down the road. We turned around to have him look at it again, but he said he didn't have time. So we left with the same problem, and a lighter wallet.

Full service auto repair, Fili, the owner speaks very good English, free wifi while you wait. Closed Sunday, otherwise open at 8AM. Business shows up on Google maps as "oil change"
