Worked well. Made an appointment online and paid around 71k cop for a month for our Chilean moto. Debit card payment only, foreign debit cards work fine, no cash or credit options. Also cheap breaky at the supermarket cafeteria while you are waiting or after!

The lady is sitting with her laptop at the back of the supermarket, in the cafeteria section. The guard can point you there. You need an appointment, reservation at the link below - it’s only for the same/next day. We paid 307.000 for 90days for our Kombi (as it’s a camioneta). Only debit card. Just bring your passport and car papers, no need of copies, she doesn’t need to see the car in person. Quick.

Got our SOAT here without any problems. 2 month for 30€ for a VW Crafter. Payed with Debit-Visa Card. So only needs to be a Debit.
The woman who sells it, is really sitting IN the Exito IN the café (added a photo, hope it works).
Very easy, friendly and helpful. Open until 4pm and lunchbreak between 12am and 1pm.

Btw at the red ATM (also IN the Exito) we got cash without any charge with our DKB Debit Card.

It is still possible for foreigners to buy SOAT here. Things to be noted:
1. You have to go INSIDE the Exito, find the Cafeteria and near there is a small desk where they sell SOAT.
2. The small desk may only be "open" from Monday to Saturday until 4pm.
3. You can ONLY pay with a debit card from Mastercard system. NOTHING else.

October 2022, any chance to get a SOAT here or in Ipiales. We tried 6 shops and any sell soat for foreigner car.

After 20 minutes the unfriendly lady told us, that is not possible for the system to find our Fiat ducato. We think it took to long for her. We asked very friendly but no chance.

We paid 159K for 2 months for our Dodge Sprinter. She said we can not extend one month because there is no SOAT if you go north. I'm not sure I can believe that.

We paid 182.000 for our Defender 110 Land Rover brazilian plate. SOAT was made as "microbus", because at our original car document is written 9 passengers. They said there is no issue on it because all data of the car is at the SOAT (Plate, engine number, chassi number, my passport, ecc...). We just got into Colombia and did the SOAT, if we have any issue, will come to this Check-in and update information. You have 1h of free parking due SOAT and can also withdraw money. We paid with VISA, no extra charges.

Go past the registers to the yellow counter. Give your paperwork. Get price. Go line up and pay. Return with receipt to yellow counter. Issued papers. Listen to pounding reggaeton throughout process.

Super easy SOAT, a little cheaper than what we would have paid at the border. They insured our 40 year old US plated van. Took 5 minutes. Definitely worth coming to Exito instead of doing it at the border as there’s so hassle, you can get cash out at the ATMs inside, and do your groceries while you’re at it. Easy to navigate streets and big parking lot.
