Description

Very good mechanic. Knows where to get all the parts which are difficult to find. We got a part within one day which we searched for a entire week on other places. They work fast and good. Good for Ford and other US cars. It's a grey building without anything written on it.

!!! BE CAREFULL !!!!!

Despite all the good comments about Mauricio, we had a bad experience with him and he ruined part of our trip with his dishonesty.
We went to his garage after a breakdown on our vehicle. He diagnosed us with a problem with the cylinder head gasket and the water pump. We had the naivety to believe it when he told us that he was having a new cylinder head gasket delivered from Santiago, that he would fix the problem in a short time, and for a frankly cheap price. In fact, he lied to us. Its young and incompetent employees kept the original seal and simply added a rough adhesive to it, when they should have put a new seal and had it corrected by a specialist. They did not realize that several engine hoses were damaged and needed to be replaced. We learned this two weeks later in Argentina, after a 2nd breakdown (which could have screwed up our engine), by going to another garage that explained what had happened and showed us what the engine was like...

By reviewing the previous opinions of other overlanders, we better understand how his business works: he makes tourists believe that he can "miraculously" get parts that are hard to find, in record time and at a price that defies all competition. The reality is quite different: he only "repairs" these parts or perhaps even takes them from old cars (his garage is filled with several dozen cars...)

So before you go to his house, think twice about it....

Diego's mechanic fixed our diesel return connections professionaly (Fiat Salfa in Antofagasta used superglue and did hide the fact that they had damaged this complicated plastic piece). We would go to Mauricio again :o)

the best mechanic experience in South America so far. I had here general check, filter change and some repairs done. They are quick, Mauricio is really good at getting extra parts that are usually not available and I paid like half price for double amount of work compared to other services in Chile or Argentina. a plus at the end...the car came out cleaner than when I bought it :) highly recommendable. as already mentioned, grey building without any name on it - the work speak for them...
