cute little town if you pass by but not worth a detour. the lake is stinky馃あ never see a water so green....
ok to park and spend the night there for free ( friday to saterday). cars with loud music from 1 to 3:30 in the night馃槵 and when i left in the morning the " parking guy" ask me for a tip.... no gracias amigo!!
** water spigot on the left side of the mercado close to the bush**

Report Check-In

Free public parking. Good location and safe. Police cars were around all night.

We spent two very restful nights here. One guy asked us for a little tip and got us water. We were able to put our shower without any problem. The place is very cool, it's not very Mexican, but it's beautiful.

ATTENTION

This place is free of charge except weekends. Don't pay to some aggressive guys who ask for 50 peso and smell for alcohol.

we talked to police and an official of the city.

no parking fee except weekends with an official paper.

very quiet during the week. Friday night disco nearby until 3 in the morning

water tape on the west side behind the house with the toilets (5 peso open from 1 p.m, beforetake the restaurants).

Restaurants are only good for the toilet. food is worse. better go into the City or malecon

We arrived during carnival so the parking lot and all the streets were absolutely jammed full but somehow we found a spot to park! We moved again after dark to a spot with a little more privacy and had a great sleep. The parking lot attendant was very helpful and asked for a tip so we gave him $30 pesos on top of the $50 pesos we paid to park for the night.
There are bathrooms in the lot but not always open. The lot attendant let us use the one in the orange building where the restaurant is - hence the tip!
We moved for breakfast and parked along the malec贸n and walked to a bench along the water enjoyed all the bird life and the fishing boats while we drank our coffee! Perfect.

Good place to overnight when there aren鈥檛 many other options. It was Monday night so pretty quiet around but I guess it would be noisier on the weekends. The attendant Jose is super nice, he only asked for a tip, we gave him $70 pesos

Report Check-In

Great place to overnight. No other service than parking but it feels secure and apart from the noise but pretty close to restaurants and Malec贸n.

Perfect place for a RV class C

Came down here as a last resort as wouldn鈥檛 find anything formally (we have a 7 month old and 3 dogs so our rule is no informal camping). So glad we did! We found another couple with their baby staying so felt safe. Town itself super safe. Paid $50 and police all night. Would recommend to anyone.

Really nice place! it's now 50 pesos 24h but worth it. there is water for free.. you can take as much as you want. Chapala is very good, huge market on Sunday. police patrol around here, felt very safe.

Report Check-In

Was a quiet night. Last two nights we parked on the park side of the street near the entrance gate to the park. Police patrols came by regularly. Safe and quiet.

We stayed overnight in this parking lot and it was wonderful. Lots of nearby restaurants. Police patrol the lot all night. We felt very safe

Big dirt parking lot close to the Malec贸n. Since we arrived on a Sunday afternoon, we paid $50mxp. Town was packed. Lots going on. Music was going until about 10pm then it quieted down. Cops knocked on our window at midnight to see what was going on with the parked van but they said it was fine to park here overnight. Public banos on the south side of the lot but not open after 7pm. I would expect it to be much quieter and to not have to pay during the week.

We stayed 2 nights here, from Thursday-Saturday, was OK, not to much noise. Police was passing several times a day, they didn鈥檛 bother us, all in all a good stay.

Report Check-In

Pretty awful really. Horribly noisy. Inspected by Police at 6pm. Then told to move by Police at 8pm. We moved to a spot outside the gate. Then we thought they came around again at 10pm as they shone their torches in through the windows. But no, it was a couple of thieves who stole one of our camping chairs. Inspected by Police again with torches through the windows at 4pm. At least the really loud music had finished by then. First and last time I'll be car camping in a Mexican urban environment. Scary and not safe. Almost as bad as California is now!

On the Sidewalk of the Chapala Red Cross, safe parking, with connection to electricity and free water, you can drain your waters into the grids on the street!

En la acera de la Cruz Roja Chapala, estacionamiento seguro, con conexi贸n a la electricidad y el agua libre, 隆puede drenar sus aguas en las redes en la calle!

We actually stayed on a side street. Maybe halfway between this large parking lot and the main road. After staying at public parking lots several times, we鈥檝e found better nights of sleep in neighborhoods. This community seems very safe.

We got here on a Friday night and had to leave at 1am. A dozen of cars with full blasting music parked around us, but we weren鈥檛 in the mood for partying... terrible.

Report Check-In

Arrived on Monday and stayed 3 nights. The tap water is still there. The swimming pool next to the parking was closed (because of the season) but you can pay 5 pesos and use the bathroom they told us that the shower is only with cold water. We went to the park on Wednesday and nobody was there to pay the 5 pesos.

A little noise because of the restaurants at the malecon but the stop the music at midnight.

The police patroll the area very often.

We were the onlyones parking here. Great location to visit Chapala

Report Check-In

Didn't stay here as slept at the spot in Ajijic, but stopped off here for water. Tap is there, slow flow but free.

Report Check-In

Arrived on Sunday afternoon and they were charging everyone 50p to park with no time limit. I鈥檓 sure if you came on a weekday you wouldn鈥檛 be charged. We stayed the night with no issues. We could hear the music from the Malec贸n but it wasn鈥檛 bad at all. Good spot

Report Check-In

very large flat parking. we paid 30 pesos and we stayed for two nights. if you arrived on a Saturday, it is better to be a music lover. ideally placed to walk on the malecon. At the second exit, at the foot of an electric pole are two faucets, we filled up with water.

Report Check-In

It is a perfect spot.....just not on a Friday night during carnaval. Unfortunately around 9:00pm, the mariachi music started up so loud we could feel the reverberations through the truck. We stuck it out until 2am when we moved just down the street a ways where it was still audible, but not vibrating our vehicle.
Would probably be great any other non-festival weekday time of year as the location is great and not busy.

Report Check-In

As described, a great free place to park while exploring Chapala. Right on the boardwalk with lots of bars and restaurants and a playground and skate park nearby which our children loved.

Got here on a Sunday afternoon, paid 30 pesos, spent the night with no problem. Quiet and empty on Monday morning.

Report Check-In

totally free parking. safe, quiet, shade under the trees, non potable free water, just in front the park. Quite good!

Report Check-In

Quiet, secluded car park near the lake with a cooling breeze and shade.

It鈥檚 free on weekdays and then 30 pesos at the weekend. We were pretty much undisturbed for the 4 days that we stayed there.

The ground is level gravel and the adjacent park has a swimming pool and shower you can use for 50 pesos. Friday night was a bit noisy from the sound of distant bars, but it didn鈥檛 keep us up.

Report Check-In

Great public parking to stay for day (30 pesos) and night. Pretty noisy during the evening but night is Ok.
We arrived during the day so we paid 30 and stayed the night, the day after and another night. Water is available from the colored houses.
